I'm doing one now, don't really know the format but I'm about to play the finals of a Swiss. I was just able to Mogg Infestation all my creatures so I could Overrun the next turn, so that was fun. Also had good luck Spiking counters onto a swampwalking Bayou Dragonfly. Puppet Strings is good to lock down a creature. I opened Torture Chamber and it wheeled, grabbed it and it is insane. You might take a few damage but repeatable removal is so good.
They've tweeted it will be down until 5PM PST, longer than expected. I would like to think they'd warn us, but I can't shake my paranoia that this is the Beta switchover...
Just wondering as I was passed a P1P2 Archangel of Thune last night online, and it got me thinking what common you would possibly pick over it. All uncommons were present and there was a foil still in the pack as well so it wasn't like there was a mythic foil to take over the Archangel.
Damn tick tock tick tock just heard from my friend at Comic Con that they were gone. Can grab for 250ish online but I don't think I can justify that for personal use or investment. Damn yo.
Yeah 20 minutes were not enough. I didn't realize I had sound off so didn't hear the ticking down, managed to add Suggested land quickly but not enough. So I wound up with 29 cards and 11 land, and got screwed by an opponent's cheap equipment both games. Dropped in frustration, on me for sure but wasn't a great experience
I am beyond excited for both of the Primordials. Rasputin is my first EDH deck, just put it together a few weeks ago on MTGO. I am loving him so far, lots of mana and lots of blinkers. I'm considering adding Eldrazi but scared of Bribery... Here's the latest list, any thoughts?
I tried an M13 (so sick of RTR, did a million drafts and 4pks, finished my set and was done with it) last night, was glad not to have paid full price because I don't care if I get another Clone, Talrand, and whatever the 4 junk rares were. Unfortunately my ISP went down for the whole effing city as the first round started, so I didn't get to play at all...
Gotta say even just deckbuilding I enjoyed the Phantomness of it all. I'm sure there will be times when I open a pricey mythic and kick myself, but most of the time if I want the cards I can just buy them for cheaper than the difference between this and a draft/6 pack sealed... Really coming around on these.
Nice! Four tickets is insane value just for playtime and sealed experience. Although yeah, if there are no prizes out of the finals people might drop a lot of the time after one loss. I foresee many a bye.
It's also good to have the option to play real 6pack, although it's probably too pricey to do all the time. Good on Wizards for listening to the community and/or realizing that removing an event tons of people play for one almost no one does isn't great for their bottom line.
EDIT: For some reason thought 3/1/0/0 meant only the top 2 got prizes at all. Disregard my "finals only prizes" comment.
A funny thing happened in the Holiday Cube... I loved some of the card interactions (Venser and other blinkers with various ETB effects), and it turned me into an EDH player. So I think most of my MTGO budget is going to go towards building Commander decks, and I'm more interested in value for my money when doing limited rather than grinding drafts and 4 pack sealeds.
So I've sort of come around on these running the numbers, for the same price as a 4 pack sealed I can do two of these and maybe even come away with more prize packs. The phantom element is still a bit of a sticking point, I do love collecting and building sets, so I'm still not quite sure how to reconcile that. If these ever do start firing reliably though I might give them a shot.
I think it's super lame that they're killing 4 pack, I love it for the sealed play with good prizes. I'm not going to play Phantom, I want to keep what I open and build my collection! I was thinking maybe if they kept the prize structure at 5/3/1/ I'd be ok with it, but even then not really.
Bottom line for me is that I won't play this format, and I wouldn't be surprised if I end up spending less money on MTGO.
