Debating adding some more manlands at 360:

Qasali Pridemage vs Stirring Wildwood ?

Boros Charm vs Needle Spires ?

Lotleth Troll vs Hissing Quagmire ?

Dack's Duplicate vs Wandering Fumarole ?

I'm thinking manlands make the cut in WR and UR myself. Thoughts?

I'm not very active on these forums, but the cube side of MTGS is what got me to make an account. You're all wonderful people.

Merry Xmas and keep on cubing guys!

I've arrived at the conclusion that my black 2-drop section is one card short. I'm running 360 powered an find all of the remaining options so lackluster...
I'm already running Dark Confidant, Bloodghast, Oona's Prowler and Pack Rat.

Are my next options really Nezumi Graverobber, Dauthi Horror or Pain Seer?

We've played all 3 of those cards with very lukewarm results. What are people's experience with these guys? Any other options?

    -------------------

Aside from that, I've also recently cut Earthquake for Fiery Confluence. Am I crazy?
We're running the Wildfire package so we felt like 2 earthquakes + 2 wildfires + Confluence seemed like too many sweepers. Thoughts?

I too feel like I'll be cutting Avalanche Riders for this.

Siege-Gang has always been a very high quality card and after a little thinking, I don't even think this is that much worse, if at all!

Just wanted to drop by real quick to say that I had a double modern PPTQ this weekend. Top 8ed the first one, losing to twin in the quarters on a crazy sequence, and I won the other one!
I'll write a tournament report a little later this week when I have time.

I'm super excited to see this deck picking up steam and winning the MOCS! But I am also kind of sad because I'm anticipate-ing having to play against a LOT more Pyroclasms games 2 & 3 now... :p

That being said, I know some people still love their Craterhoof Behemoths and their Coiling Oracles, but seriously, the collected company version is just so much more stable than the all in summoner's pact lists. Just my 2 cents, but I' ve been saying it since the start and I believe recent results are proving me right.

I really like the states list, looks a lot like mine. I'd probably play a split of 1champ/1perfect though, as I feel forestwalk is not that relevant in modern right now. Also gives you more chord options.

Also, to the people running ol' hoofs : what board state does he Win on where ezuri doesn't accomplish exactly the same? is it just for the thrill of the extremely unlikely turn 2 win (as cool as that is)

I like the nettle sentinels too much vs burn and junk like I said before, but I could understand someone wanting to drop them for more dorks and dudes. Though it considerably weakens the beatdown plan.

As for the person who brought up the dismembers costing 4 life: yes, the cost is harsh, but it is a necessary price to pay for twin/infect/random creatures that hamper our gameplan or ridiculously enable theirs. It helps our game 1 vs affinity a lot surprisingly!

Finally, I will add that I highly recommend at least 2 spellskites and 2 oozes to anyone playing the deck, they have proved invaluable in my testing.

Anyways, I hope people have as much fun running this deck as I do, it is just a blast to play!

I thought about it, but I feel the good heritage druid draws are too strong to give up, even if she is somewhat clunky at times. She also enables plenty of sweet lines company into Ezuri regeneration thanks to 2 additional elves, allows just dumping your hand on turn 2-3, and gives a lot more use to the visionaries and the silver bullets such as warden (which I don't play), and reclamation sage.

Darwing 'em is doubles is pretty bad though, so 3 it is, wouldn't go under that for the reasons I stated though.

Nettle sentinel is also just good as a 2/2. Blocks like a champ vs burn and is crucial in putting up a decent clock vs junk.

Alright, I didn't take any notes during my matches, but I'll try and highlight the important points vs each matchup and my sideboarding.

First of all, it was posted earlier, but here is my list for the 4-0 Daily :

    Round 1, 4c Gifts (2-1) :
Game 1 goes by pretty quickly. I have a hand with 2 lands, 2 dorks, 1 chord, 1 archdruid and 1 CC, pretty much the hands you always want. He play a tapped land on turn one. Thoughtseizes the archdruid on turn 2, plays an island and casts serum visions. I draw nykthos and hold up chord for ezuri on turn 3. He casts serum visions 2 more times before playing a fetch land. I chord for ezuri, play my Nykthos and kill him. I'm not sure what he is on at this point, but it appears to be a controlly/combo deck?
    -1 Vines
    -1 Nettle Sentinel
    +1 Thrun
    +1 Garruk, Primal Hunter

Game 2 Keep a slowish hand, figure out he is on gifts at the midway point of the match. He wraths my board twice, grinds me out with lilianas and then gifts for Elesh Norn and I scoop 'em up.
    -1 Reclamation Sage
    -1 Dryad Arbor
    -1 Spellskite
    +2 Beast Within
    +1 Vines of Vastwood

The removal he showed me was go for the throat, which skite is useless against, and Beast Within is a mediocre answer to Elesh Norn, though I would prefer winning before she hits the board.

Game 3 is pretty unexciting on his end. I draw the nuts. Turn 3 kill. He casts 2 serum visions before dying.

    Round 2, RUG Midrange/Twin (2-0)
Game 1 He plays 3 tarmogoyfs and 2 serum visions. I play an archdruid, and ezuri and 4 more elves. He is overrun by the elves on turn 4. Of the lands he played, there is a desolate lighthouse, so I put him on RUG twin.
    -2 Heritage Druid
    -2 Nettle Sentinel
    -1 Dryad Arbor
    +1 Thrun, the Last Troll
    +1 Garruk, Primal Hunter
    +1 Wurmcoil Engine
    +2 Dismember

Vs decks with a lot of cheap burn I dislike trying to go for big heritage druid turns, and with less druids, nettle sentinel drops in value as well. Dryad arbor is mediocre against red decks as well. We try to add in threats that they can not grind out and a little bit of removal for the combo. Beast within is NOT for this matchup, this is a value matchup, as such, I would never bring in something that gives them a dude.
Game 2 He one again deploys 3 tarmogoyfs, but this time has an Engineered Explosives to halt my early agression. I draw Thrun to block for a few turns, while he bolts my other dudes. I eventually draw collected company flipping double Elvish Visionnaries, draw more gas and win the game from there. I never saw a single twin creature or splinter twin, so I have no idea if he was midrange or Twin...

    Round 3, UW Control (2-0)
Game 1 I mulligan to 5, keeping 2 dorks, and archdruid and 2 lands. He gets stuck on 2 lands, has to deploy a Snapcaster mage just to block and dies in the following turns to my mighty mana dork beats.
    -1 Reclamation Sage
    -1 Dryad Arbor
    -1 Vines of Vastwood
    +1 Garruk, Primal Hunter
    +1 Thragtusk
    +1 Thrun, the Last Troll

Rec sage has no targets, arbor is bad against wraths and vines is a necessary cut since we're adding 3 non-CC targets. We wants value cards vs path and wraths. There is an argument for adding Finks as well, I haven't tested the matchup enough, though they are weakish to path.
Game 2 I set up a kill on turn 4 but he wraths my board. I set up another kill a few turns later, but when he casts verdict, I chord Ezuri out, regenerate my board and kill him.

    Round 4, Splinter Twin (2-0)
Game 1 I mull to 6, keep an average hand with a spellskite in it. Cast it on turn 2 and he rages at me in the chat. I understand he is on twin and play around exarchs by not attacking my dorks into nothing. Eventually he double bolts the spellskite and casts exarch EoT. He casts Splinter Twin on it on his turn, I chord into Reclamation Sage to destroy the Twin in response to the untap trigger and he concedes on the spot, telling me a few more good stories about my mother I didn't know about.
    -2 Heritage Druid
    -3 Nettle Sentinel
    -1 Dryad Arbor
    +2 Dismember
    +1 Garruk, Primal Hunter
    +1 Wurmcoil Engine
    +1 Thrun, the Last Troll
    +1 Reclamation Sage

Same as RUG Twin, they can simply not beat a resolved Garruk/Wurmcoil. The extra Rec Sage is for shackles or simply having better odds of still having a copy of Reclamation sage in my library should I want to chord one, as spellskite is not as good post board with twisted image + ancient grudge.
Game 2 He drops a turn one lavamancer and I cry a little inside. He plays exarch on turn 3 tapping my land and forcing me to dismember it and then plays a pestermite, further pressuring my life total. On the last turn, I have both spellskites in play and lethal on board, while he has a grim lavamancer and a pestermite, 2 cards in hand. I am at 5. If he has Twin I'll die because of the life cost on spellskites ability. He swings with pestermite (dodged the twin, now just need to fade a bolt/electrolyze). Then post combat, casts twin on lavamancer and concedes. I am left thoroughly confused as he teaches me the truths of my sexual orientation.

Recap All in all, I will admit I got pretty lucky at points, having 2-3 turn 4 kills, which is nice, but I feel the deck is really strong and can grind out games if worst comes to worst. I can't say I feel like craterhoof is necessary at all, as Ezuri accomplishes the same this, is cheaper to chord into EoT then overrun for the win, can also save you from supreme verdict/pyroclasm effects, can be hit with collected company and is magnet. While the other just sits in your hand should you draw it... While this is clearly not a combo deck, the gameplay vs most decks is really similar : build a board, pressure a bit to put him on the backfoot, then BAM Ezuri all up in your face.

I have since made a few changes to my list :
    -2 Vines
    +2 Dismember
    SB:
    -1 Reclamation Sage
    -2 Dismember
    +2 Choke
    +1 Melira, Sylvok Outcast

The infect matchup was very hard post board with all their answers to skite. They have extremely little to combat a Melira though, and having 5 copies just feels dirty. The 4th rec sage was definately too many, even vs affinity, and the dismembers took the place of the vines maindeck, as they did nothing but underperform. Choke is more tech for twin/delver/Ubased Control, which are not the easiest of matchups.

Overall, I feel this deck is really strong as long as people don't start restocking on pyroclasm/drown in sorrow effects. Wrath is fine, as it costs a lot thus pressures their mana considerably. The difficult matchups are the totally unfair decks, such as amulet and Ad Naseaum, and RG Tron. Everything else is 50+% I feel like. Though elecrolyze + Snapcaster is not enjoyable at all.

This is a pretty chaotic writeup, and I'm sorry about that. If you have any questions or comments, feel free!

    Cheers,
    Londons

Hi Guys, so I recently picked up the deck and rocked 2 dailies yesterday. 4-0'd the first one and 3-1'd the second one (only loss was to the mirror, ironically). I'm running comboless mono green elves.

If there is any interest I could try and do a mini report.

I also really like the idea of fauna shaman, I haven't tried her yet, but I'll be sure to test her!

Alright, so I'm currently trying to put sex monkeys back into my 380 cube because we feel green would like the extra oxidize effect, but I can't find a cut. I'm already running Reclamation Sage, Wickerbough Elder, Acidic Slime and Song of the Dryads as disenchant effects. Do people feel this is enough for green in a 380 cube and I'm just crazy for wanting to add another more restrictive one?

For reference this is my list : http://www.cubetutor.com/viewcube/18101

I also don't know what I'm going to cut for Yasova Dragonclaw, any tips there as well (will be running her in the green section)?

This deck idea seems really interesting to me!

Deck seems pretty light on answers to a resolved threat though, has that been a problem so far? Speaking of which, what's the deck's overall gameplan? Counter stuff while milling your deck and then enter a never ending durdlefest of reccuring griffins and card advantage?

I'm really tempted to sleeve this up and give it a shot, format bores me these days!

I must say RUG delver or the tempo UR list look nice. Just wondering, what about Stoneblade? Is that any good? I saw there was a bant variant that finished top 4 and then top 16 in SCG legacy events, it looks pretty fun, would it be something to consider or is delver just better all around? (I'm fully aware that stoneblade is not a tempo deck Smile )

So my options are pretty much RUG delver UWR delver and UR delver right? What are the major differences? I've only started looking into this format so I don't really know what sets them appart. Though straight UR just looks like a glorified burn deck to me. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing mind you!
