Madcap Skills will do wonders in this kind of deck. I've seen a lot of cheap rakdos decks around and they win lots of games with it along with Mogis's Marauder. Your creatures should be base black though in order to capitalize with the marauder.
Further question: what if... I got a couple of Temple of Abandon, maybe a couple of Mountains, and Xenagos Planeswalker? Even without red creatures, he still seems to pump out some good stuff, particularly late in the game against a control deck. Good, bad, indifferent?
When I go to splash in a color to my mono colored deck, I don't usually do it just because of one good card. Yeah, that one good card can really do great things but its not enough to justify splashing in another color. Plus, it will be hard for you to pull out that sole Xenagos. Well, it's still up for you to try and see if it doesn't ruin your game.
This one doesn't use mana dorks like Elvish Mystic and it seems you're not a big fan of those. If you've read the reply above this, you'll know how important they are in green decks.
Anyhow, this deck is basically built around Howl of the Night Pack. The goal is to get those lands as fast as you can in order to play Howl of the Night Pack earlier than turn 7. Other biggies are included as alternate beat down win conditions.
Last time I check, this deck is worth less than $10 and very easy to upgrade.
The deck is built around Nightveil Specter which can exile your opponent's top deck and play it when able. If ever that route is not enough to let you win, Gray Merchant of Asphodel can be your bomb or you can slap your opponent with AEtherling.
Returned Phalanx can stop those aggro decks early on the game and it helps you increase that devotion for the merchant. Though Omenspeaker can be used in place of him if you want to. Pack Rat seems also viable.
Since you heavily rely on to Nightveil Specter connecting in combat, your instant spells are basically removals. Also, Dimir Charm can filter the top card of your opponent so you can get what you really want to take out from his/her deck.
The sideboard may vary depending on your LGS meta. I have included more removals and some counter spells that could be good against certain situations.
I hope this helps and may you have fun playing this kind of deck
Thankyou chowdahrogansorah for those suggestion. I was actually looking for a Gnaw to the Bone-ish card on standard and finally got one! Crypt Incursion is very welcome in this deck. I might also try those devotion gainers.
Hi everyone! It's been awhile since I play standard and I have updated my previous Golgari Mill My Self deck to be standard legal. Honestly, I do miss Splinterfright, Ghoultree and Kessig Cagebreakers but its time to move on. Anyway, here's my current deck list:
What I really want to change is Scourge of Skola Vale. It seems to be clunky for me. I don't find its ability very valuable but I may be missing something. It also grows too slow but sac-ing creatures helps to increase the creature count on my graveyard.
I would also want some other suggestions to further improve the deck, the budget way
Hi, I just need some clarification. For example, I have an Arbor Colossus and moved its +1/+1 counters using Bioshift to another creature. I will not be able to re-activate its monstrosity ability and gain the counters then trigger its effects, right? I have read from the rulings that "Monstrous isn't an ability that a creature has. It's just something true about that creature. If the creature stops being a creature or loses its abilities, it will continue to be monstrous." but I'm not sure if removing/moving the counters still makes the creature monstrous.
For the Sideboard, Unravel the AEther is good against gods. Pithing Needle can shut down PW, gods or any other permanent with pesky abilities. Bramblecrush can be used as PW removal if you don't have access to Pithing Needle. AEtherize can also be included as an additional semi-sweeper. You can also add in here those walkers that you cut off from the main deck. There might be some matchups that they are of better use.
Edit: Posted a deck list so you can have a template and get some ideas from it.

Underworld Connections and Read the Bones are your draw engines.
Chromatic Lantern helps you to produce any mana so you can play whatever was exiled by Nightveil Specter.
Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver and Jace, Architect of Thought can also take out any card from your opponent and allows you to also play it.

Honestly, I totally missed that Graverobber Spider.
As for the removals, why the hell I haven't thought about Drown in Sorrow? LOL. I definitely need a sweeper due to our LGS meta.
About the Erebos's Emissary, I may have to test and see if it would do great things than Nighthowler. I'll split them 2 each.
pedrogsena, yep Varolz, the Scar-Striped could also work so thanks!
