Just FYI, Cloudpost is banned in pauper.

Please understand the rules of a certain format before making blatant posts. This format falls under paper, paper Pauper is an unofficial format thus it has no such restrictions officially. The only official form of Pauper is online. However if a playgroup wishes to enforce a ban list they can.

Found it! Razor Barrier does this. It costs 2 mana instead of 1 though, but it gets the job done.

And if you face matchups in which your Equipment is being destroyed options like Mine Excavation, Leonin Squire and Salvage Scout can help.

I also saw a sideboard worthy card that can wreck this deck: Strip Bare! If equipment decks were a thing in my meta I would run it. Razor Barrier or Apostle's Blessing can stop it in its tracks.

One last thing: Would War Report be a good sideboard option against some aggro decks and mirror matches? This could gain you a lot of life to lock in a win against certain matchups.

Those are some good options! Strip Bare is a pretty beast card and War Report is a pretty bonkers sideboard option for anything artifact related.

I thought I would post up my current delver deck and see the communities thoughts on refining it. The deck runs very stale, I don't really have much fun playing it anymore. I will say I made the switch from Phantasmal Bear to Zephyr Sprite and that made a difference for the better.

Just as a friendly reminder, let's not turn this into a banned or restricted discussion. That is how a few other threads got locked because they flew way off topic. Let's keep this primer about the arch type. Some light discussion is okay from time to time but I think we all get the point that until this paper format is sanctioned officially, everything is legal. This paper format has no bans, no restrictions so everything should be included in the primer as a suggestion for use if it is relevant to the arch type. Thumbs Up Nodding the Affirmative

As I have said before, if a discussion must take place on the matter please direct it to the corresponding thread HERE.

I am sure you saw this deck within my Soldier primer, but I figured I would post it in here to be added to the primer as an example deck, tweak it, and or just talk about it.

    XBM Yosho's Pauper Equipment Soldiers

Pretty straight forward, slap down your creatures and rely on your equipment to activate the abilities. Use your fetch lands to double proc your Adventuring Gear for a deadly strike or massive life gain.

You're running a pretty mana intensive deck, I would consider running Dark Ritual paired with Sign in Blood so you can drop your guys out quickly and get some continued card draw for yourself. This change alone will dramatically speed your deck up.

As I explained in my last post, even though this is paper pauper with no official banlist, I still don't like to include cards from the online banlist in my decks. They're pretty busted and I agree with the bans.

I could add it for educational reasons as a possible (definite, that's how you roll) include for the decks. I probably should anyway since my tastes shouldn't effect the content of the Primer, which is supposed to educate :/

I would agree that they should be added. Regardless of personal tastes the fact remains that this format has no ban list thus all information should be available for people to do with as they wish.

The primer is coming along nicely, some spoiler tags here and there to shrink it a bit and it'll be great!

Is there any reason why Cranial Plating is not on the Equipment list?
Starting with Metalcraft this card beats every other available equipment on the list Smile

You make a good point, it is easily the best equipment available. Perhaps since it employs black mana it wasn't added.

Though this also further expresses my point of branching out a bit into other colors. Decks like my Equipment deck that feature both Cranial Plating and Horned Helm make for a lot of fun. A deck that has green mana in it makes Horned Helm even better.

Flickering Ward could also be a nice simple protection card. It also has the ability to save itself so that is a plus.

Added a bit to the Peasant section. Hard finding good tech for the deck. Golem-skin Gauntlets was a big find Grin

Also considering re-naming the Primer since we already have a soldier primer like Dark Ninja said, and it feels redundant even though it's a completely different deck. But I'd still like it to be catchy..

Well considering as this is more based off Equipment then soldiers you can always just rename it [Primer] Pauper / Peasant Equipment.

My Soldier Primer focused more on the tribal aspect and each soldier helping and pumping the other. This one basically has nothing to do with soldiers if the truth were known. You're not using Daru Warchief's in Peasant, you're not using Ballyrush Banneret's or Veteran Swordsmith's in Pauper.

Maybe you can refocus it a bit and branch out into other types of equipment decks and suggestions not just pertaining to soldiers or mono-W. That way you can also add decks that are little power houses like my Equipment deck in my signature. That deck has some beat face power.

I'm guessing the extra point of power and toughness is more important against decks with tons of removal (MBC) or flying creatures (Delver deck). Carapace goes through a Spire Golem, sunchaser does not.

I agree, normally Auriok Sunchaser would be the choice but perhaps depending on the meta Carapace Forger's extra point of power and toughness are enough to warrant the use of him.

I personally prefer my version of the deck though.

As far as Terrarion is concerned, it fixes two mana and grants card draw, so I can see the benefits.

  • posted a message on Peasant Exclusive Decks
I don't really know of any "exclusively" built around this or that Peasant decks. Most of the time they are traditionally built around Pauper because the Pauper (common cards) themselves are so strong and efficient it really doesn't get a great benefit from being brought into Peasant.

For instance you don't really build a deck around Mother of Runes, you just sort of add her into your already crazy White Weenie Pauper deck in place of Benevolent Bodyguard. The core of the deck remains the same, but she is just a better version of that card.

As for the cards you mentioned, I don't know if I would actually build a deck around those. I would prefer to add something to an already proven deck that would just make it better such as Vampire Nighthawk, Hypnotic Specter or Demonic Tutor. One card you almost always have to consider for the uncommon slot over a lot is Aether Vial.

Not really a constructive response, I'm sure they're decks out there that are built around something though.

I actually really like that card. I may try and run it in my White Weenie and see how it does. It may be even more useful in Soldiers as that is more aggro oriented so some extra draw would be great.

Additions for your Peasant section, these are most likely all you are really going to want to mention seeing as their can be only five uncommons.

    1 Drop:
Kor Duelist Rate3 If you are running Peasant equipment, you may want to consider this creature over some other uncommon equipment cards.

You can basically just copy and paste my support section into yours, they are basically the same.

    Support:
Swords to Plowshares Rate5 Along with the below, it is the best white removal spell in the game.

Path to Exile Rate5 Along with the above, it is the best white removal spell in the game.

Brave the Elements Rate5 You have an army and can deal enough damage to win? Cast this and they can't block you anymore, GG.

Skullclamp Rate4 A nice pump aside from the -1 toughness, worst case scenario you get to draw a card from it.

Aether Vial Rate4 Excellent for Peasant Turbo-Soldiers!

I will add a section into my Primer linking directly over here if they want a more in depth look into what an equipment based soldier deck would be as I didn't really want to delve into myself.

    Quote from Goblin_King16
I have always loved the fast brutal strategies that come with playing Slivers. With M14 releasing many new Slivers I want to bring them to a different format. Namely one I am not used to. Transitioning the creatures was the easy part but the mana is throwing me a curve ball. Any suggestions?

Running three mana in Pauper is going to be somewhat difficult. It will slow the inherent speed and massing ability of Slivers a bit. I don't really see a way to get around it other then using Lotus Petal, Naya Panorama, or the traditional Terramorphic Expanse/Evolving Wilds.

Are you sure you want to play three colors?

I like the primer, and of course as you messaged me earlier it still needs some cleaning up. I will just list off things as I see them in the order that I see them to make this primer "premium".

1: Change the name of the thread. Go into the advanced edit options and change it to [Primer] Pauper / Peasant Steel Soldiers. It will make the section look much cleaner.

2: Under the one drop section you need to put a space in between the rating and name of both Ardent Recruit and Auriok Glaivemaster.

3: Under the three drop section you need a space in between the rating and Veteran Swordsmith.

4: I personally wouldn't undercut Sylvok Lifestaff, I would give it a rating of 3 and a sideboard description.

5: You need a space in between Circle of Protection: Red and the rating.

6: Some of the ratings are lower then others, so you should arrange the cards in each section from best to worst.
