I don't know if the seller you got this from would be willing to say, but I am curious who the dealer is that he got these from. If possible, I would love to know who to blacklist...

In regards to your tagia, lines like that are of no concern. Quality control wasn't exactly the highest at that time so things like that are pretty common.

I would need higher res scans to confirm, but the black line on the front strikes me as odd if you say it is different(and it looks different from the pics to me). That should be a solid line rather than have any pattern to it. As stated though, high res scans would be needed. Have you done the light test on it yet? From my experience, very few fakes will pass the light test(and it is super easy to do, so why not). If you look at the back border, the boundary between the brown and black on the real one shows it to be uneven whereas the suspect one is straight. All of mine are like the worn one you have. At least from these photos, the dot patterns appear to be different. Again, the worn one looks more correct to me. Have you checked the dot patterns in the mana symbols and tap symbol themselves? Sometimes that can be a giveaway. This is just my two cents, but I would say it is worth your time to get some higher res scans.

anyone feel free to correct me on this but it looks as if Serum Visions is about to become the first $4 common in modern. Already is on SCG and is creeping up there on TCGplayer.

I can say for certain that this has been rising. I sold multiple playsets on ebay earlier this week for about $11.50/playset. I listed some more playsets earlier today and have already sold one at $14/playset. I won't be surprised if the rest are sold by morning.

As far as reprinting, I wouldn't be surprised to see it. It was one of the un/commons that was eligible for reprint in Modern Masters but wasn't included. I would imagine that the price would decline quite a bit if it was reprinted, but it would probably remain a ~$2 card since it would see standard play as well.

You can add Magic and Monsters to the list. Here is the email I got last night from them.

    Dear ------:

Thank you for your order. Unfortunately, we will not be able to fulfill this order. As you know, card prices are highly volatile, and our policy states that we may not honor orders where card prices have drastically changed. We try our best to keep our prices with market rates, but at times may be unable to change them quick enough. Sorry for the inconvenience. A full refund will be refunded to you.

    Regards,
    Kevin
    Magic and Monsters

If you take a look at their policy, it pretty much states that they can cancel the order for a pricing/typographical error. To me, this means if they plug the wrong number in while initially putting the card up for sale, not if the price goes up. As has been stated many times before though, it is up to each store what orders they honor/dishonor. Its their reputations on the line.

Edit: I had ordered 7 of the card for reference on the size of the order.

This is kinda resurrecting an old thread, but I think it is relevant with the reprint. What are people's predictions for his price(both foil and non foil) with FTV sets being of a reasonable size(in terms of print runs)?

This certainly looks like a fake as far as I can tell. Between the high res scans and the light test, I can't see how you can legitimately say otherwise. I also agree with the above post of not letting the card back on the market. It is a surprisingly good fake and I would care to bet that it might fool quite a few people. If the seller does agree to let you destroy it on camera or something of the sort, I would be interested to see if it passes the bend test and some of the other tests that are often considered to be a bit more destructive. On the same note, I wouldn't blame you if you just took a sharpie and wrote "fake" on the back. That would be a really nice black lotus to put in a cube...

I know I am going to be looking extra close in the future when trading for high dollar cards. I often just look for the distinctive "dot pattern", but apparently that isn't enough now. Thanks for the post and updates! I wish you the best of luck getting things settled.

    Hello!

I was reading this thread and bought a AVR Box (made in Belgium) just to try.
I opened the Packs and tried to guess what to open. It worked a little, but some were predicted wrong by me.
Can you tell me what the missing cards could be?

Attachment is in Microsoft Excel (*.xls)

    Thans a LOT!!

First off, since you box is made in belgium, you will have to use the Belgium map that is posted earlier in the thread than the map I posted(which is for USA boxes). I will start off by saying that I am not a master with the Belgium map and it seems to be somewhat off, but I am not sure. I know the Belgium boxes can vary quite a bit as well. I looked at your box and I am not entirely sure what is going on in it. Would you mind opening a few more packs for me. In particular, could you open the packs in the left column, rows 7 and 9. They are on either side of Craterhoof. It is possible there might be a Bonfire or Temporal Mastery in there, but I am not sure. Could you also open the packs from rows 5 and 11 from the center column? Hopefully I will have a better idea what is going on after that. I am guessing that row 2 of the center column is Slayers' Stronghold, row 5 of the center column is Spirit Away, and row 12 of the center column is Herald of War. I would also guess that row 3 left column is Conjurer's Closet, row 1 left column is Descendants' Path. I am not sure about any of those, but they are educated guesses. Hope it helps and hope that with some more information I can tell you what the rest of the cards in the box are.

It is looking great! Good to know that a map is soon to come. I won't bother making one myself since you already seem to have it under control, not to mention I am a little burned out after the AVR one. Great job so far! I will take a look at the finished product and look for mistakes. Maybe even buy a box and try it out. Planning on looking into how the flips are packed as well? Not sure if it would be possible though since the flips might go into packs on a different basis than the rest of the rares. I would guess they also have their own print sheet. It is probably worth taking a look at it after completing the rest of the map. I am guessing the best way would be to look at the flips on each track within a box and start putting the pieces together if possible. It would be similar to just putting the other tracks together. Great Job so far!

n144mann, comparing your tracks to mine. Here are my notes:

Track A: Agreed on the Sigarda/Slayers' Stronghold spot. I just flipped a coin there.

Track B: The only cards I was a little unsure on were the Descendants' Path and Rite of Ruin at the bottom of the track. I had them in reverse order of your list, but I had them marked as "unsure" as I didn't hit a lot of real solid data on that aspect of the track compared to others.

Track C: Only differences I had are the Champion of Lambholt/Killing Wave and the Divine Deflection/Demonic Rising. Had those flipped.

Track D: Dread Slaver/Dual Casting and Angel of Jubilation/Reforge the Soul were only places my work differed. Same deal, had them flipped compared to you.

I had much stronger data on certain parts of the tracks than others.

The thing that made the process take as long as it did was the amount of data that I believe was incorrectly recorded. I just threw out boxes that made no sense at all. Of course you have to assume those providing the data are correctly recording it, but a number of times it was clear that was not the case.

I checked in on the M13 thread now that we have the template for RTR and AVR. Unfortunately there seems to be almost no data provided.

    Track A: We agree, cool.

Track B: I have multiple boxes supporting the order I have on the map, so I am pretty sure that it is correct.

Track C: I am going to change the Champion of Lambholt/Killing Wave spot as long as you have good data there. I was going box by box for the entire thing so I also had some spotty data. That spot was my last hole to get filled in and the box happened to be a rare box that was missing a card(killing wave). For the Divine Deflection/Demonic Rising spot I have multiple boxes supporting the order on the map. If you can find the boxes that have it in a different order, I would love to take a look at them.

Track D: I have multiple boxes supporting the order for Dread Slaver/Dual Casting so I would once again love to see the boxes that support otherwise. I only have 2 boxes for Reforge the Soul/Angel of Jubilation so it would be easier to sway me with that one if you can send me the boxes that say confidently otherwise.

As you can probably tell from my post thus far, I also have much stronger data in some places than others. I think that is just the nature of the beast though. I went through about 20 boxes just trying to fill in the last 4 card hole I had in the C track. I was almost ready to just put them in a random order since I knew what 4 cards it was and call it good. I finally found a single box that spanned the gap though.

I also noticed some boxes that seemed to be recorded incorrectly. If they were correct, they sure were screwed up anyway. I know there was a few that I ended up just tossing to the side as well. Glad to hear I wasn't the only one.

I had the same thought to check the M13 thread and was very disappointed at the lack on data. Maybe we will try INN instead though.

Here is the completed map for Avacyn Restored boxes made in the USA. The set is packed just like Return to Ravnica so please refer to that if there are questions.

    There are 4 tracks total:

    Track A: 15 Mythics appearing twice + 6 rares appearing 4 times + 1 Alchemist's Refuge = 55 Cards
    Track B: 13 Rares appearing 4 times + other 3 Alchemist's Refuge = 55 Cards
    Track C: 16 Rares appearing 4 times + 2 Moonsilver Spear = 66 Cards
    Track D: 16 Rares appearing 4 times + 2 Moonsilver Spear = 66 Cards

The track sequence is 22 packs long with tracks A and B appearing 5 times and tracks C and D appearing 6 times. The track sequence is read from right to left, top to bottom and is:

    A B D A B D D A A B C A C D C C B D C B D C

There is almost always 2 rows displaced and those are usually the first row and the seventh row. They tend to be displaced my 1-4 rows, sometimes 5 or 6, but that is rare. 2-3 rows is most common.

The map should be mostly correct, but there might be a few cards switched around. I have also found a few boxes that do not seem to follow it and will be looking into those boxes more. There is also an occasional skipped card, but that is not common.

All feedback is welcome and I would love if people can post any corrections they think they find. Please supply box data to support any corrections. I am sure this map is probably not perfect, but it should be pretty close. I will update it as I feel necessary and I will try to add an explanation of how to use it shortly. Enjoy!

An Example of how to use the map.

To use the map, start by opening an entire row of packs. I suggest using row 6 since it is very rarely displaced. Make sure to keep track of the original placement of all of the packs. I use a spreadsheet to record data and suggest anyone new to this uses one as well.

After pening and recording those packs, locate each card on the map, in particular in what track it is.
For example(using a real box from my data sheet from mapping), lets open the 6th row. From right to left, the rares are Zealous Conscripts, Treacherous Pit-Dweller, and Somberwald Sage. Look these up on the map and Zealous Conscripts is from Track C, Treacherous Pit-Dweller is from Track B, and Somberwald Sage is from Track D. This means that this part of the sequence is CBA from right to left. Next, open a single pack from the 5th row. For simplicity, let’s pick the center pack in the 5th row. It is a Cavern of Souls. Cavern of Souls is from Track B according to the map. At this point, we can produce a theoretical map assuming the box has no displacements(which is very rare). This would be the theoretical map:

    A B D
    D A A
    B C A
    C D C
    C B D
    C B D
    C A B
    D A B
    D D A
    A B C
    A C D
    C C B

Remember that this is right to left, top to bottom. I used the track sequence above to make this part of the map. The bold letters are the packs we have opened thus far.

We now have 2 cards out of Track B which means we can identify where we are on the track. Look at the map and locate where Cavern of Souls is followed by Treacherous Pit-Dweller. It is in the top half of track B. According to our theoretical map, we have 2 more B’s above what we have opened and 4 B’s after what we have opened. According to the map, the 2 above will be Gallows at Willow Hill and Restoration Angel. The 4 below will be Descendants’ Path, Alchemist’s Refuge, Captain of the Mists, and Revenge of the Hunted.

We obviously want to open the Restoration Angel, so that is out next step. According to the theoretical map, it should be in the very first row, middle column. So, we open that pack. It is a Terminus. This means there is a row disruption which is not surprising since row 1 is almost always displaced.

Now, look up what track Terminus is from. According to the map, Terminus is in Track C. Looking at our theoretical map of the box, there is only 1 time in the top half of our box when there is a C in the middle row. Yes, I did say top half for a reason. The first row is almost always displaced within the top half and the seventh is almost always displaced within the bottom half. Because there is only 1 C in the top half of the box that is in the middle column, we can assume that our first row is displaced by two rows. After making this adjustment on our theoretical map, the new theoretical map of the box looks like this:

    B C A
    A B D
    D A A
    C D C
    C B D
    C B D
    C A B
    D A B
    D D A
    A B C
    A C D
    C C B

Looking at this new map, our restoration angel should be in the middle column of the second row. We open the pack, it is indeed the restoration angel. Great!

We now have 2 packs from Track C which means we can identify which cards from track C should be in the box. Look on the map of track C and find where Terminus and Zealous Conscripts is separated by c rares(3 comes from the number of C’s between them on the theoretical map). Unfortunately, there are two spots on the map when Terminus and Zealous Conscripts is separated by 3 rares. In Situation 1, the 3 cards between them are Exquisite Blood, Desolate Lighthouse, and Druid’s Repository. In Situation 2, the 3 cards are Wild Defiance, Divine Deflection, and Demonic Rising. Since we don’t really want to open any of these, let’s look at what should come after Zealous Conscripts. According to our theoretical map, there should be 4 C’s after Zealous Conscripts. In Situation 1, these are Stolen Goods, Cathars’ Crusade, Champion of Lambholt, and Killing Wave. In Situation 2, these are Arcane Melee, Moonsilver Spear, Druids’ Repository, and Champion of Lambholt. Since we still don’t want to open any of these, we are just going to leave track C alone.

Let’s try to find another card in Track D so we know where we are on the track. According to our theoretical map, we already know where the D’s should be. Pick one of them in the top of the box. For simplicity, let’s open the pack in the fifth row in the left column of the box(which would be the right column of our theoretical map). We open the pack, it is Angel of Glory’s Rise. After referring to the map of Track D, this is correct. About 1/3 of the way down Track D, we find that Somberwald Sage comes after Angel of Glory’s Rise. According to our theoretical map, there should be 3 D’s before this in the box and 4 D’s after them. The three before should be Dread Slaver, Archwing Dragon, and Devastaion Tide. The four after should be Dual Casting, Otherworld Atlas, Demonlord of Ashmouth, and Angel of Jubilation. Since we don’t want to open any of these, we are going to leave Track D alone and move onto Track A.

To find where we are on Track A, we still need to open 2 packs from it. According to our theoretical map, there should be 2 A’s next to eachother in row 3, in particular the center column and left column of the box. Open these packs. The center pack is Hound of Griselbrand, the left pack is Silverblade Paladin. Look at the map for Track A and locate where Hound of Griselbrand is followed by Silverblade Paladin. It is towards the bottom of the track. According to our theoretical map, there should be 1 A above this and 6 A’s below this. Looking at the map of Track A, the 1 above should be an Entreat the Angels and the 6 below should be Tamiyo, the Moon Sage, Dark Imposter, Bonfire of the Damned, Lunar Mystic, Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, and Ulvenwald Tracker. We want to open the Entreat which should be the top pack in the left column of the box. We open it, it is indeed an Entreat the Angels. We also want to open the Tamiyo. It should be in the second row in the right column of the box. We open it, it is indeed a tamiyo. Our theoretical map now looks like this.

    B C A
    A B D
    D A A
    C D C
    C B D
    C B D
    C A B
    D A B
    D D A
    A B C
    A C D
    C C B

There are two more cards we want to open from Track A, Bonfire of the Damned and Gisela, Blade of Goldnight. We know they are in the bottom half of the box, but we also know there is probably a row disruption in the bottom half of the box.

Let’s start with trying to find Bonfire of the Damned. We know it should be the second A after Tamiyo. According to our theoretical map, this would put it in the center column of the eighth. row. We know that the seventh row is probably displaced. This means that either row 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 on our theoretical map is actually row 7 in our box. Most commonly, it is either row 9 or 10. This means that the bonfire is probably in the ninth row instead of the eighth. We open the center pack of the ninth row. It is our Bonfire of the Damned. This means that the seventh row is indeed displaced, but we still don’t know exactly which row from our original map is there. We still have one more card to find, Gisela, Blade of Goldnight. According to the Track A map, she should be the second A pack from Bonfire. This means that she should be in the tenth row, right column. We open the pack, it is Otherworld Atlas. This is because of the row displacement. Look at the map to find what track Otherworld Atlas is from. It is from Track D. According to our theoretical map, there are only 2 D’s in the right column in the bottom half of the box. One is in the same row as Bonfire, the other is in row 9, which is now row 10 because we know that there is a displaced row in row 7. This means that the displaced row must be row 10, 11, or 12 of our original theoretical map. From my experience, the farther down it goes, the less likely it is to be displaced. Therefore, we are going to assume the tenth row is displaced. This is where our Gisela, Blade of Goldnight is hopefully. The displaced row is the seventh row in the box, so let’s open the pack in the right column of the seventh row. We open it, it is Gisela, Blade of Goldnight. We have now mapped the entire box. The final theoretical map looks like this:

    B C A
    A B D
    D A A
    C D C
    C B D
    C B D
    A B C
    C A B
    D A B
    D D A
    A C D
    C C B

Hope this has helped. The displacement can be the hardest thing to deal with in the box, but with some problem solving and careful note taking, it isn’t usually too bad.

I just completed the map. I am going to write up a post and post it as soon as I fix all the spelling and such. The set was almost exactly the same as RtR in terms of how it is packed. Right to left, top to bottom is how my map is set up, just like RtR.

I will try to give a quick intro when I post the final map. It is taking forever to find a box that fills my one last gap in track C at the moment, but it should be up soon. Refer to the return to ravnica box mapping thread as well since have already tried to explain it there.

Track D is done, only a couple more cards to place in track C and then I will post it all for you guys to confirm/correct. There are a few boxes that seem to be way off compared to the map. Not sure what is up with them, but I have ignored them for now.

I am fairly sure that I have tracks A and B done. I am almost done with tracks C and D. I will post them all once I am done.

There appear to be a few spots that a card is missing or there is an extra card. I am assuming this is due to the packing machines being imperfect, but I welcome other opinions.
