It's a shame Gideon's too much of a hero to play war games with Ob. All he had to do was choose the world and the terms. Would have been an interesting war.

    That cuts both ways.

What cuts both ways? People who are suspended for violating the rules versus people that when they get caught? Sure, that cuts both ways, in the same way that a chainsaw and a rusty butter knife both cut. 99.9% of the time when someone is suspended or punished for something, and they run to the internet proclaiming their innocence and victim status, they are absolutely full of *****. Are their mistaken suspensions? Sure. But not many. I'm I'm not terribly inclined to believe the person with a clear motive for lying vs. the organization with no incentive for fabrication.

Haha, the organization with no incentive for fabrication? How about the fact that they **** up all the time and need to cover their own asses? I mean, it wouldn't look too good for them if they just outright said "Yeah these people didn't leak anything, but they were also present at the time so to hell with them too."

Geist of St. Traft is about to get a lot cheaper.
But that most likely isn't the CARD Geist of St. Traft... I mean, it clearly is the same CHARACTER, but I imagine that massive sword means his abilities will be different.
Considering that Duel Decks have consistently been "Reprint vs New Card" for a while now I have little doubt it's a reprinted Geist.

Okay, maybe the full art version of Barry's land could not have a reminder text for the Barry's mana color but Kozilek should have a rimnder text? (See Phyrexian mana symbols.)

    Mythics don't have Reminder text.

    I hate it.
    I hate this.
This feels like them just trying to push UG away from what it currently is. And they're doing a bad job.

Goddamn, it's a Phyrexian version of Ezuri, how do you **** that up so badly.

And what UG is currently about, according to you?

Prophet of Kruphix, untapping, Deadeye Navigator, and generally being the most un-fun person at the table.
Problem is, this doesn't make me want to play UG in any sort of different way. This looks completely uninteresting in my opinion. At best, in the 99 for Edric.

oh no! they didnt make a introductory product as "unfun" as a mentos and coke enema, how dare they.

They also didn't make a second UG Commander that was, you know, good on a basic level. At least not for this product, from what I've seen. Oh well. At least there's the cat.

Anything pushing us away from Prophet and Deadeye is doing a good job in my book.
We really don't need more Prophets and Deadeyes.

And they couldn't make something good to push people away from that? Something interesting? Oh boy, I can go infinite with my Sage of Hours. If I wanted to go infinite why am I not just playing a regular, actually good, UG Commander?

Just got back from FNM, drafted an absolutely, horrendously stupid deck.

Terribly synergistic. Catacomb Sifter + Smothering Abomination/Brood Butcher is disgusting, and adding From Beyond into the mix is pretty much game over. Sludge Crawler is MVP status for winning me a game through 2 Dampening Pulse from my opponent and taking down multiple 3/3s and 4/4s along the way. Sided out the Sludge Crawlers once all night, against a BG deck that was also spamming Scion tokens, put in Culling Drones. I remain of the opinion that UB or UBx (usually R or G) is where you want to be in the the Limited format. It takes some work and a bit of luck but when it comes together it just makes something beautiful.

Goodness, that's a lot of multiples. Coupled with the wide array of different cards you have for the archetype, I'd imagine that the others at the table were fighting each other for RG Landfall or Allies or something. That's good news for you, of course, because it would mean all of their decks are weaker as a result.

Yep. I sat at one end of the table and I think the two other Blue players were sitting on the opposite end, fighting between each other (one opened a Lumbering Falls and still elected to not play Blue because he was getting cut so greatly. He wound up going into GW because of an Emeria Shepherd). It helps that the Devoid cards are all very narrow in what kind of deck they can go in outside of the obvious Devoid decks. I got a last pick Sludge Crawler and was thrilled to see it. Quickly becoming one of my favorite cards, next to Eldrazi Skyspawner.

  • posted a message on BFZ Draft is so boring (discussion on BFZ's contributions to Limited and Constructed)
This set is terrible monetarily (open a Battleland, an Expedition, a Planeswalker, or walk away with pretty much no value) and I'd normally avoid it like the plague after one or two drafts on release day but this set is so good that I'm willing to continue throwing money into the pit just to keep on playing. I've done several draft, spent at least $150 in cash, made back maybe half that if I'm lucky, and I'm still going to keep going just because this draft environment feels like a breath of fresh air.

I've drafted UB Devoid (no Process, just small, evasive guys and then close out the game with Swarm Surge), UB Ingest Process, UR Devoid, RB Devoid, GR Landfall, BW Lifegain/Allies, RW Allies, UW Fliers, UW Awaken, and a few other archetypes and each one feels exciting to me.

Eh, the fact that it exiles instead of dies at the end of the turn is kind of bad unless you run a significant amount of sac outlets.

I'm surprised by the lack of Siege Behemoth in this thread. I've been using it to great effect in my Omnath deck to force through damage after making a lot of tokens with Ant Queen or Wolfbriar Elemental.

As an aside, I've had now three people try to cancel trades on me because either PucaTrade updated how much a card was worth or the card the deck went into was rendered irrelevant. Voice of Resurgence, Golgari Grave-Troll (Duel Deck: Izzet vs. Golgari], and Bloodbraid Elf (Shard of Alara).
