I'm hoping to achieve some land destruction with AT, GQ, Wrenn and Six, and Pillage in certain matchups. Sometimes I have to mulligan because of the mana base but with the new mulligan rule it hasn't been too bad in play testing.
I feel like the climax of a story matters a lot, and the invasion block was so much more epic and detailed than war of the spark. In the Invasion block Dominaria was invaded several times, Zalifar warped out, the elder dragons were reborn and died, the Stranglehold was invaded, Phyrexia was invaded, Gerard, Urza, and Yawgmoth died.
In War of the Spark the tenth district was invaded and Domri Rade died.
Also Yawgmoth was defeated by the legacy weapon, which was the past blocks all coming into cumulation. Bolas was defeated by Niv-Mizzet Guildpact using Hazoret’s Spear and then Lily betraying him and Ugin trapping him, which came out of nowhere.
I had come to this topic to talk about that very same card, as well. It's either implying that Sorin currently lives on Tarkir following the events of WAR, or they did mean to have this card be the Atarka warrior from the story, and having him mention Kolaghan instead was an oversight.
Planeswalker decks aren’t cannon. Jace had a planeswalker deck where he teamed up with Merfolk for Ixalan and that never happened.
But the best card against wrath’s is necropotence.
None of the cards you listed deal damage to the face of the opponent, but Eldrazi Monument and Zulaport Cutthroat do, and this deck wants to do.
Winter Orb is best in a deck with a lot of mana dorks and mana rocks, which this deck doesn’t have. I’d compare it to Stranglehold, a solid card that our deck doesn’t run.
How about Zealous Persecution as a combat trick AND potential boardwipe? It basically encourages alpha strikes and once you use it, your opponents become very hesitant to block.
It's too midrangy for this tempo/aggro deck. Other cards that I'd compare it to(that I don't play) are:
It also doesn't help you if you have an empty board or if opponents have a bunch of big creatures. I guess if your meta has decks with a lot of x/1s it could be good.
I’m going to add silent clearing but not sunbaked canyon. Arid Mesa and Sacred Foundry are the only Boros lands I run, since black mana is so important to the deck.
Yeah and there's also Vampire of the Dire Moon - another B 1/1.
With these two (and probably few more to come) I'm recently thinking about cutting Stromkirk Noble to get as close to mono-black as possible - do you guys think it's a good idea to take our decks in this direction? My point is, we already want BBB for Necropotence, which takes impact on mana base so why not go all-in with it?
I think we want to run all the vampire 1 drops, including the 2 changelings; they’re so good with Edgar. I think that the vast majority of our lands should produce black mana, but we can still have red and white:
Vapour Snag, Daze, mono Island mana base, restricted SB options
These are basically the differences of the decks. Which version is better against the different decks of the field?
Personally I prefer the Izzet version, since I realy dislike bounce as „removal“ and the red SB options allow to shore up some weak match-ups.
If you don’t like bounce as removal there’s always Curse of chains.
I actually think the biggest advantage of mono blue is Spire Golem. Playing him on turn 4 for 2 mana while holding up a counterspell is nice, playing him turn 6 for 0 mana is amazing. He survives against Lightning Bolt and wins combat against Delver. He might be worse now though with Defile running rampant.
He also feels better games 2 and 3, as he survives against cards like Scattershot archer, Electrickery, pyroblast, nausea, and Evincar’s Justice. With us adding Faerie Seer to mono blue lists I expect these cards to increase as sideboard cards against us. The other thing is if someone sided in artifact hate for a card that we only run as a 2-of, I feel like that’s a win for us.
But yeah, Izzet May be better right now. I just like running mono colored pauper decks better.
The narrator on the Audiobook pronounced the Z in Orzhov like the S in measure. He also pronounced Nicol as Nee-cole, Parun like Parin, Hultai like What-key, if you pronounced “What” like Hank Hill, and Domri Rade had an Austrian Accent.
Among players I’ve heard Kalitas pronounced like Cletus and Dominaria pronounced like Dominria. Garruck is also pronounced different ways.

M19 was a current story of Temur shamans who heard stories from Ugin about how him and Bolas were born.
Also, sometimes magic stories take place in the past. The Urza block took place way before the set that preceded it.
I also play fetches, shocks, and painlands, so the lifegain is very relevant.
If Cutthroat is on the field the same time as any of these cards and an opponent plays these cards:
Cutthroat can still provide value whereas selfless spirit does nothing. Also Cutthroat can help us get around cards like:
