ISBpathfinder, what are your thoughts on Ruinous Ultimatum? I know 7 mana is a lot but it destroys all nonland permanents your opponents’s control and I know you’re running Austere Command. It’s probably an easy replace, right?
Edit: Also what are your thoughts on Savai Triome?
Why is there always that one vote for twin unban. Its not going to happen, its a way overpowered strat that can lucksac into winning way too easy and is very hard to hate successfully against without dedicating lots of space to defeating it and only it.
Twin was never around with Fatal Push. The fact that the deck hasn’t done anything with Kiki-Jiki who dies to bolt shows that the strategy isn’t overpowered. And after Twin was banned we had to suffer through the worst period of modern history with the Eldrazi winter.
It’s not hard to play enchantment and creature removal or counterspells in modern.
Also, so many cards have entered the modern pool since the Twin ban. Fatal Push, BBE, Jace, Teferi, Eldrazi, AT, veil of summer, cards in modern horizons and M20 that seem like they were printed specifically to be Twin hate, ect.
Hoping for some unbans in modern.
Possibly Splinter twin? Preordain?
Maybe artifact lands?
Banning veil of summer would be nice too.
wouldnt be too crazy to see a tron piece go too.
Artifacts lands do not need to be unbanned in modern.
However, I’m surprised they didn’t unban splinter twin with all the hate they’ve printed for it since it’s been banned:
The first plan is to go infinite, but if that doesn't work the deck can win via beatdown and value. I made this deck mainly for laughs, but I'm excited to see how it plays. What do you guys think?
With 70 new legends we better get a legendary Kavu. Also, I hope they reprint Idyllic tutor. It’s just silly that it cost more money than Demonic Tutor.
I run tutors in my Tymna/Ravos Cleric tribal deck, but depending on what I have in hand and what my opponents have I may tutor for different cards. Same with my Captain Sisay deck who is a tutor on a stick.
In my Edgar Markov deck I tutor for Necropotence, so I still have variance for cards that I draw.
My Niv-Mizzet, Paurn deck uses Gamble for combo pieces, so it still has variance, and the blue tutors I use for answers.
I've never really thought of my tutors as unfun or oppressive, but I try to play a deck that's at the same power level as the rest of the table. If someone at a table wanted to play a game with no tutors I'd be down to try it out.
Cavern of Souls is the best way to prevent creatures from being countered. Both Phage and your commander are minions, but you could name horror as well.
Warriors:
Rouges:
Wizards:
The only one of those that I run is Purphoros, who is never a creature in this deck.
I don’t think any creatures who cost 3 mana and aren’t vampires are worth it.
