On a related note, does anyone have any idea why Deep Analysis was originally printed at common but was reprinted as an uncommon in the duel decks? It's a set with fixed printing so it completely baffles me.
Anyone think a zombie subtheme could be worth pursuing at 360 without being too parasitic? The new black token guy got me thinking that cards like Zombie Master, Undead Warchief, Shepherd of Rot, maybe even Gempalm Polluter could fit in nicely alongside all the zombies in cube.
I'd be more than happy to run them if I could trade for a set, but I'm probably less concerned with staying strictly "peasant" than most. I have Tymaret in my cube ATM just because I wanted a chance to play with him, for example.
A few months ago I found an Italian Daybreak Coronet I thought I gave away and some random stuff from the old unpowered cube I dismantled. I was pleasantly surprised.
I'm normally not into paying extra for pimp cards, but I built a peasant cube a couple months ago and I have to say I'm having an awful lot of fun trading for all these random foils nobody has a use for. It's pretty refreshing when the pimp version of a cube staple is only an extra quarter or so.
The first time I tried to play Cockatrice I opened a Modern room and got matched up against some guy who played a Demonic Tutor and did nothing but tap and untap it for several turns.
Earlier today I traded a Crucible of Worlds, FTV Maze of Ith, foil Master Transmuter, FTV Sun Quan and an Academy Ruins for a Revised Bayou I found in my casual-playing friend's box. He had no idea what it was worth, my heart skipped a beat when I found it in between some Innistrad rares. Easily the most valuable card I've owned, the Maze and Crucible probably topped the list before that. Supposedly he has at least one more dual somewhere.
This one is obviously for you folks that allow custom erratas/don't mind playing Magic under the table.
I tossed this into my unpowered 360 after hearing everyone's horror stories about mono-black aggro, and I'm curious whether anyone else thinks it has legs. We've only drafted twice, and the one time it was cast it led to a hilarious mill victory in Rakdos using Wheel of Fortune, proceed to tutor up some lategame for the win. I would probably side it out against anyone playing red, though.
Red Divination 2R
Sorcery {C}
Search your library for two cards
at random and put them into your hand.
There's Blasted Landscape at uncommon.
EDIT: damn, misread that completely, my bad. I was just thinking about this the other night, actually, id definitely like to try it.
