I played Mono Red twice in a row to start with, and they where the most nail bitting, butt puckering, loosing 10lbs in sweat I have ever had.
I then proceded to play against an Abzan Controll and in the finals was an Esper Dragons list.
Against the Esper deck, I had a moment of true joy when he thoughtseized and had to take a den protector, which alowed me to play the Masterie he didnt take knowing that he had no awnser for it.
I will admit that there are some changes I want to make, but will have to do some more testing before I make any final decsions.
Or more helpfully, keep playing. (And maybe go down to 25 lands if needed.) You can't flood forever.
I took a night off from testing to teach my girlfriend how to play Magic. Take a guess what color she likes most!
Blue!
As for the 25 or 26 land debate, even with the agrro shell, I still get heavly screwed more times then I flood out. If you want to go to 25, I feel that you have to have more pain lands or a few confluences rather then have more CIPT lands
Match 1 vs Abzan Mirror 2-1 W
Against a good player who had switched from a real nasty Jund Midrange deck to this. He told me later the the deck was no where ready to be played as he had just put it together that day and needed to be fine tuned like nothing else.
Match 2 vs Abzan Control 2-1 W
This deck I belive was created by one of the top players in our state. It fetures Lilly and Res. Angel and a few other things.
In the end I won the match on a misplay on his part. He had attacked with his Roc + token and rhino while I was at 6 life, he was at 6 life after the roc trigger, I had a taped rhino and a untaped bestowed courser. I blocked he downfalled the coursr after blocks and I pain to gain 3 life with Bow. I go to 1 and he passes thinking that Herald will kill me. I untap gain 3 with bow go to attack he blocks with caryatid and forgets the bow gives deathtouch.
Match 3 vs Boros Agro 2-0 W
This is the one I feared most, as I have played against him before and he usally win out right. It contains Rabble and swift spear and +1/+1 couter raid guy, some burn and titans.
game 1 I actally stablalize with elspeth and and take over from there
game 2 he boards out most of his burn gets me down to 3 before I stableize. He lights and chains my courser and rhinos.
controlling time typically happens in one of two ways, either a machine are though magic.
With a machine, it typically creates a bubble "safe zone" that time flows correctly, and everything outside flows in any direction you want.
As for magic, that also depends on the type of magic. Is it a power to be given or taken, biological like a mutation, or is it a spell that can be cast? Either which way the user should age correctly inside their bubble.
I agree that Brain Maggot does warrant testing, however I also feel that its rather lack luster at this time. Perhaps after rotation, it could be better.
With the bulk of the MBD players thinking about splashing, I wonder what the future holds for the dedicated MBD decks.
As you all know I'm not a big supporter of splashing, but what would you say if you were able to get a Desecration Demon out on T3?
Splash and add Sylvan Caryatid or Elvish mystic and it can be a reality.
