Guys, Congratz on your good results at GP Boston, I'm glad that 8rack is poping up at big events and doing great. I just have one question, none of ur SB have cards to solve burn matchup, either with creatures or without, how do you manage those matches?
Hi guys, a fellow 8rack player here ... I wanted to ask if someone recently tried a version with a small blue splash in form of either duals of darkslick shores, to run academy ruins, spellskites main (to make it easier using it's ability / life-wise) and maybe 1 piece of Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas?
One of the match-ups where I tried my luck with "one lander" - first 4 turns no land but I managed to get out all my Vials - my opponent played Zoo ... this is the end of the game :0
always welcome more Knight players, so I'm glad to see more people ... and now my opinion about your list (I play Vial G/W Knights in paper and recently I build up Vial Mono White Knights at MODO) ... to your list
First of all you "must" play vials or better said there is no reason to not play them ... the advantage you gain from this little costly artifact is unpayable: let me mention just few things you can do with them:
1. It saves ur mana for other purposes and you can all the time flash in some creature at the end of ur opponent turn ... avoiding sorcery kill spells
2. Avoiding counter spells - huge benefit ...
3. Instantly place blocker to represent first striker's team to kill opponents creatures
4. Flash in Exemplar - either during attack or block for protection or saving your creatures or simply boosting them
5. Flash in Metamorph to copy legends for eg., flash in creatures to kill artifacts or enchantments ...
The list goes on and on, it's usually very unpredictable for ur opponent what will happened when he attacks/blocks with ur vial untapped ...
Creatures you want to play:
- 3 up to 4 Student's I play 4 and in some match-up's I side 1 or more out ...
- full set of Knight of Meadowgrain - in ur list only way how to get some life (Basilisk Collar is nice option for first strikers and also Sword of Light and Shadow works very nicely)
- 3 up to 4 Knight's of the White Orchid
- Sigiled Paladin is not good enough - at least for me - no protection, no benefits, Exalted ain't not worth it, another 2 drop I would consider is Thalia, definitely at least 3 in SB if not main
- full set of Knight Exemplar - must
- Silverblade Paladin might looks cool but he is way worst than Mirran Crusader, another good 3 drop knight for main or if you prefer SB is Paladin En-Vec
- Hero of Bladehold is awesome but 4 is too much - you usually want to keep your vials at 3 rarely go to 4 I would play 2 Heroes and 2 Phyrexian Metamorphs - those represents 5-6 Exemplar, if you got them you could also play Wilt-lief Liege - great booster as well, better in GW build
- Path to Exile - auto include 4 - your main remove spell
- Brave the Elements is awesome trick - I play 2 in main - sometimes another 2 in SB
- Condemn ain't no Swords of Plowshares - not worth it
- Wrath is nice SB option but against some decks it's simply useless card - and those decks are numerous - away from Christmas land imagine you have army of creatures against army of ur enemy ones for eg merfolks or zoo you got ur knight exemplar out and wrath in hand - you are happy and thinking I wipe the other side of table and keep all my creatures alive, you play wrath boom in response ur exemplar is removed you just killed all ur creatures ... as I said i think about wrath more in context of killing/wiping table in terms of quick decks than killing only half of table
- OR is all the time OK but just OK
definitely I would play at least 2 Honor of Pure in main if no 3 and maybe consider Light from Within and some swords. lightning greaves are also very nice ...
SB: Celestial Purge is ok in 2 pieces I guess, I would play 3x Rest in Peace, 2x Wrath,4x Leyline of Sanctity,3x Thalia, 2x-3x Kataki or Stony Silence is fine, 2x-4x Pithing Needle helps a lot, 1x-2x O-Ring maybe ----> those cards in some combination... Rule of Law is interesting card as well ...
Most important while playing Knights, maybe many other decks is to realize what role you want to take in particular match up, sometimes it's down to one bad decision and you loose match up ... Vial makes many difficult choices easier, keeps your opponents in momentum of surprise and speed up your deck even if it cost you turn one with no real creature drop ...
With those cards keeping aside:
1x Brave the Elements
1x Celestial Purge
1x Stony Silence
1x Elspeth, Knight-Errant
1x Phyrexian Metamorph
1x Pithing Needle
1x Rest in Peace
1x Sword of Feast and Famine
Or trying to get:
1x Sword of Fire and Ice
1x Sword of Light and Shadow
Wanted to ask you, what changes would you do - especially in terms of lands maybe, I proly need to get more fetches which I don't own atm ... based on some advices I will know what to try to obtain I traded out 2 Caverns for a nice price, maybe later I will try to get em back ...
My current modern meta at LGS is Affinity, Zoo, Splinter Twin Combo (Kiki, Exarch, Vendilion Clique kinda), nice R/W land fall burn, Black Discard etc.
Sire of Insanity is the right call for Heartless Summoning and as someone mentioned Acidic Slime is pretty amazing too ... Your plan is to complicated and Baron biggest advantage is color protection not the life-link to be honest
Hi guys, I wanted to paste here a picture I took last time playing Knights, but dont know how I just got it stored on PC I draw one land but got 2 Aether Vials so I said I will try it, I got Knight of Meadowgrain and match-up was agians Zoo, until turn 4 I stayed at one land but draw another 2 aether vials I end up at Vial 1 counter, Vial 2 counters, Vial 3 counters and Vial 4 counters ... and won a game with a lot of surprising attacks and blocks thru Vials my opponent is a good player but he was impressed It was awesome
And I got my 4 foil Aether Vials signed by Karl Kopinski
If it helps here is a decklist I put together on MODO just for fun Normally I have 4-5 decks for standard / my favourite atm are Aristocrats, MBC(Conley Wood's adaptation), G/B Ooze (Kibler's toy), G/W Humans and Reanimators ... but got also other ... just wanted to point out that it might be fun to play something different from time to time But for a serious tournament I would take one of the mentioned
I miss little Lilianas

I play WW as a Highlander (100 cards) deck apart from it I play G/W Humans at current Standard environment that said I will give you few advices:
as a WW you want to play 1-2-3 CC creatures (a lot of them in ur 60 u probably want up to 30 creatures: 25-30) maximally few 4 drops and some anthems + removal to clear the path to your victory ... I would play max 22 lands, even 20-21 is fine depends on creatures and numbers ...
Here are some I would recommend from current environment, those with star I prefer, depends on your budget ...
1CC
*Boros Elite
*Champion of the Parish
*Dryad Militant
*War Falcon (great if you stick to soldier/knight theme)
Doom Traveler (better in token decks)
2CC
Cloistered Youth
Daring Skyjek
*Elite Inquisitor
*Knight of Glory
*Loyal Cathar
*Nearheath Pilgrim (SB: aggro)
*Precinct Captain
Serra Avenger
Syndic of Tithes
*Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
*War Priest of Thune (SB: enchantments)
3CC
*Boros Reckoner
*Fiend Hunter
*Frontline Medic
*Mentor of the Meek (SB:control)
*Silverblade Paladin
4CC
*Angel of Jubilation
Odric, Master Tactician
*Restoration Angel
*Rhox Faithmender (SB: aggro)
*Riders of Gavony (if you stick to some theme)
*Slayer of the Wicked (SB: depends)
*Sublime Archangel
Just what came to my mind also you want to play some other spells mainly in SB as:
Rest in Peace
Oblivion Ring
Blind Obedience
Faith's Shield
Purify the Grave or Beckon Apparition (grave hate)
Divine Deflection
maybe Cloudshift, Break of Day, Moment of Heroism
Sundering Growth
Rootborn Defenses
So in my area Modern fever is catching on, no doubt because of the Modern PTQ. Everyone is forming modern decks and snapping up all the modern staples, I'm going to bring along these 2 decks to my LGS during the weekend and get some games against all those PTQ wannabes!
For BR Faithless Darth Knights, I cut out 1x Faithless Looting and added in 1x basic Swamp, as too many Faithless Looting cluttered the early hand and resulted in tempo issues.
My other list is the conventional GW Vial Knights deck. I'm starting to see this deck more and more as a meta deck, with all the protection/color hosers the knights bring with them. I'm expecting lots of cheap W removals with Path to Exile, R removals such as Lightning Bolt or even Lightning Helix. I'm also expecting plently of Jund as well.
I kept Rancor because it allows the deck to race with opponents, and also apply heavy pressure quickly.
I kind of finalized my GW Vial Knight deck and I wanted to ask for some advices especially regarding to proper mana base (I miss Arid Mesa and maybe one more copy of Horizon Canopy so I added 2 more shock lands, I have some more sejiri steppe, bojuka bog and wooded bastion available, how would you compile the mana base with my options, please?) and also maybe pimp a deck in general: I'm still thinking about cards like Elspeth, Hero of Bladehold, Swords, Basilisk Collar, Faith's Shield and Brave the Elements ... for example any advices? Your last G/W Vail list? Any good cards from Gatecrash?
In my matchups against Jund and GW Hatebears, Deathrite Shaman almost usually comes down on the first turn, while my Knight of Reliquary comes in usually on the third or fourth turn. That means by the time KotR is in play, all my previous fetches are either already "eaten" up by DRS, or in response I would quickly see 2 lands in the yard "eaten" up end of my turn and on his turn respectively before my KotR is active. Put it simply, it is not a fair 1 Vs 1 matchup when DRS have a 2 turns headstart !
Maybe one or two Ground Seals or Celestial Purge could solve the problems with Deathrite Shamans? It gives you extra card and protects your grave - other one remove it from game totally - just an idea, maybe there are some better cards to serve the purpose - I've just started to play Modern so my knowledge of all cards might not be sufficient - but hey I completed my GW Vial Knight a week ago - got 4 foil FTV Aether Vials yea - so I'm a fully dedicated Modern Knight Player now :):cool2:
To be honest I like the card and I've been already speculating how to abuse it a bit - and as far as the discussion goes - I understand your logic and arguments why is not good - but don't consider it "only" in vacuum like there is nothing else on the table - it's clear that in a deck where you play this you will do something 4 turns before u play this - I can imagine this in a nice token deck with intangible virtue for example or with burn at the stake as finisher - with Blind Obedience on the table haste creatures would not hurts so much - plus nice removal package ... here is an example of something in my mind - work in progress - all advices are welcome:
4x lingering souls
4x midnight haunting
4x gather the townsfolk
4x intangible virtue
3x blood artist
4x boros reckoner
4x blasphemous act
3x assembly the legion
2x burn at the stake
2x ultimate price
2x oblivion ring
24 lands (including Vault of the Archangel)
with considering other cards as: Pillar of Flame, Searing Spear, Doomed Traveler, Rally the Peasants, Ray of Revelation, Blind Obedience, Rolling Temblor, Rest in Peace for SB
I know it's not a Tier 1 deck everyone would like to play but it might work maybe tier 1.5 just an idea
