  • posted a message on Will Snapcaster still be as devastating in Standard?
Snappy will still see play. Those charms are great to flashback and with supreme verdict you can emergency wrath the board at 6 mana without worry of counter spells(unless they counter snappy, but that means that all it took to lure the counter out of their hand was a simple snapcaster mage.

I hope bonfire is hit by cheaper alternatives, I'm sick of disregarding building red decks because of Bonfire's price.

Ok, so I have heard 2 sides of this, but when you look at the top 3 cards from Augur of Bolas and there are no instants or sorceries do you have to move all 3 to the bottom or may you choose to leave them there on top? Personally i believe the former.

Just do exactly like you do in real life, say "no blocks, any effects?".

That's a good point, but it's still frustrating in the no judge environment when Magic comes down to who can physically react the fastest.

Here's a troll I play on alot of my judge friends: If I'm in rounds in my game and I Karn ultimate, wouldn't it restart the timer?:p

What's even funnier is that one time I did it and the response was "no, but you can tap/attack with whatever you start the game with because all your cards went through an upkeep"...:o

  • posted a message on Will artifact hate still be needed come rotation?
Artifact hate will never be unneeded because artifacts will always be in Magic but this upcoming standard will see more enchantment hate than ever(alot of the hate cards are a 2 for one artifact/enchantment hate package anyway).

Considering that playing against the meta is a big part of standard, this doesn't really work. Playing Caw Blade against affinity doesn't really show you what was the best deck. Their place in the meta is a huge part of their identity.

This. This is a cool thread but "of all time" doesn't really work because we aren't playing the same meta that was around in 1995. However, it's easy to see what decks are the "best" inside their own meta and I believe that Mike Flore's article captures that perfectly.

Miracles are probably on the top of my list, it sounds cool on paper, but all it really does is make people rage at how "lucky" the caster is even though they miracle terminus on turn 6 with no other plays anyway. Affinity is a close second due to the fact that pretty much everything that was from Mirrodin pushed it to be too strong, I mean, artifact lands? Really? Might as well have made all the lands in Mirrodin produce 2 mana. Third fourth and fifth are storm, hexproof, and cascade in that order all for pretty much the same reasons, unbalance.

  • posted a message on Jund or RUG; Which will be more supported?
I'm not too sure about Jund just yet. 3 colors for aggro seems to be pushing it and even though we have shock lands back they are still "shock" lands so getting the perfect mana base for jund could hurt, alot. For now I'm looking at straight Golgari but I'll keep an eye on where jund is going(in standard that is).

Aggro players won't be happy until this guy is 5/5 with hexproof, lifelink, and trample.

Blue players won't be happy until they get a counter spell for 1 blue that says counter target spell regardless of being uncounterable, then draw 3 cards.

This guy is a 4/4 for 3, for years that was unheard of.

Card isn't bad, it can easily blow Bonfire out in the most hilarious way possible.

This is the next Tarmogoyf. And played alongside Tarmogoyf, we have an official pair that can be known as the Toxic Twins.

Whoaaa there, lets not get too ahead of ourselves here. The card is good, but just how good is left to be seen. It's still up for debate who is right: those who say dumping everything for it or those who say dumping 1 creature(cravecrawler in hand)or no creatures at all(no gravecrawlers in hand)but still being played as a solid 2/1 trample regenerator.

R&D's shameless attempt to rope in the bronies. Cool

I like him. I don't think he's good (Even with Haste, the most underrated ability of all time), but at least his first strike and power make him a good enough defender that there is at least a nice tension between using him as an attacker or blocker in limited.

...Wut? Yo dawg, i heard you liked Hasbro, so we put your Hasbro in your Hasbro.

Honestly I'm underwhelmed. Not because of being "spoiled" by titans, I mean by comparing the other top guildmages' cards, it feels like he falls short. I think that with Rakdos' aggro color combination, this guy's curve will be too high for any Rakdos player to consider(assuming that B/R Zombies of today will become the Rakdos of tommorow).

Thing with Elves though is it is losing Ezuri, and llanowar Elves. But yes it is feasible to cast this thing on turn 4 with having 3 Archdruids on the field by turn 3 and not missing a land drop. How ever, I would just rather cast craterhoof Behemoth.

Legacy elves does play emrakul as a finisher. However, why would this card be played in standard elves over say...Craterhoof?

This card is incredibly powerful and will do for delver what midnight haunting did for cawblade post rotation.
