I'm playing this in my casual play group
I used to run more board wipes but it makes games less fun
Essentially a good hand gets you colossus t4 or t5.
Typically monstrousing the next turn.
I have no problem drawing 20 cards to find Formations.
I did end up swinging for 106 with two Colossus one game this weekend.
You can go less budget, but it's not particularly necessary.
It has put up positive results. It's just a light splash for utility and tricks. I went 3-1 in Swiss. Losing to Esper before I put in the Theif. And it's proved good in playtesting.
The Notion Theif is good against control and Black Devotion. The cures are good against Red and Blue Devotions. The Lifebanes shore up most G and W matchups.
Suppose I have an Angel of Serenity on the field.
My opponent casts turn and burn targeting Angel.
Is there a Window of room where I can respond after Turn to make my creature bigger or indestructible?
If not, are there any ways, apart from static abilities and protection from that color, to prevent my angel from dying?
Is Dark Naya still a competitor? Cuz I've been running Naya splash Lingering souls for a few months now. Other creative sb choices as well. Mostly losing to counterspell.america.dec. But I beat up on rites and rx aggro all the time.
I've got a 4c list that is pretty sick. Its loosely based to my surprise Naya Allies that wrecked a few FNMs. I thought the excavator, shapeshifter and image were to good to pass up.
I haven't tested it yet as I barely finished picking up the lands. But goldfishing is pretty nice. Just a little more draw power for better consistency if there's any suggestions
Thanks Itsbrake. I will have to tool around with my manabase a little and that's a good start. I never sided mortars in. as for overloading it. I never had 3 red mana ever. My assumption is that Matthew McIntyre never intended to either, he was prob using it as 1 for 1 removal.
I did like how the deck handled Bant though. I do like 4 charms for Bant. That way they can't use Serenity angel to get their stuff back. I never felt desperate for topdecks except my first selesnya charm for the Serenity.
Went 3-0-1 in the Swiss of a 22 Man FNM. Then went to top 2 and split. My list is a metagamed version of Matthew McIntyre's Virginia State's 3rd-4th place list.
Player/Deck Quality: 5/10
G1: He got stuck on 1 mana for 3 turns and just huntmastered him to death
Sb:-3 Thalia, -1 Charm
+2 o ring, +2 primal hunter
G2: he curved out to t3 primal hunter. Gg
G3: I hit 2 pillar and 2 huntmaster and just killed everything
Round 2: GW Midrange. W 2-0
Player/deck Quality: 6.5/10
G1: I out tempo him and Crusade to victory
Sb:-3 Thalia, +2 o ring, +1 Primal hunter
G2: we stale mate for a few turns until he lands trostani, then goes to 62 to my 12 before u bonfire for 9. I land my single primal hunter and then ultimate for 11 wurms 4 turns later.
Round 3: RDW. W 2-1.
Player/deck quality: 5.5/10
G1: 2 thrag and a resto sweep the game... Draw no red
Sb: -3 bonfire, +2 Charm, +1 relentless
G2:I hit a slower hand than I thought, before long I have a resto and 3 smiters vs 2 nobles, a cackler, shredfreak, chainwalker and a hellrider. I got to 2 with a thrag and 3hm in my hand, no red again. Pray for topdeck land.. No.... Pillar for win
Sb: -3 pillar, +3 knight of glory
G3: he opens with noble, me a knight. Follow with a healer, hm #1 dies, hm #2 flips and then I swing for 5 from exalted trigger pots him to 7. Follow with another swing, no blocks? Charm him up to 7.
Round 4: ID with RW Humans
Top 8: Bant. W 2-0
Player/deck quality: 8/10
G1: play t2 Thalia, follow with smiter. He plays thrag, temp him with bad blocks, 2 Jace and 2 sweepers, a thrag and smiter later i'm pumping gavony into them for game
Sb: -3 pillar, -3 bonfire, -3 healer, -1 visionary
+2 charm, +2 primal hunter, +2 o ring, +2 rip, +1 ray, +1 needle
G2: Thalia and smiter again led the charge. He Serenityed them, I charmed that away. 2 d sphere, 2 Jace, a thrag and 2 sphx revelation. I tempoed him to death.
Both games he did get an abundant amount of land but an abundant amount of card draw. Also in hindsight he did misplay Jaces in g1 attempting to slow me down.
Top4: RW Humans. W 2-1.
Player/deck quality: 7.5/10
G1: 3 Thalia, 1 hm, a pillar, a pilgrim and 11 lands later I was dead.
Sb: -3 Thalia, +2 o.ring, +1 relentless
G2: no red, but I hit a thrag, resto and a few smiter, he got a slow rolling hand after a mull to 6.
G3: arrester tempos me out of t2 smiter. Plays ajani, I play thrag, then silver blade his the board. I rip an o ring, hit paladin, and take ajani to 1 with thrag and pilgrim, smiter again and take control of the game to his dismay

Loved the deck. Having issues pulling red. Hated the mortars. Rip didn't seem as necessary as it should have
Imho best sb cards against delver are grudge for swords and golems
combust for obvious reasons
Daybreak ranger because he needs to be answered
Crushing vines is versatile in this MU but I haven't had much need or desire to run it.
Mortarpod is super good against their spirits
But a lot of legwork in my deck is done by gavony, cavern, combust, huntmaster and resto angel.
Got 4 top 4 finishes the past 3 Weeks, going 16-1 overall in matches with 3IDs
In that span I went:
2-0 vs Bant Hexblade
6-1 vs Goblins
4-0 vs Infect
4-2 vs Humans
0-2 vs Naya WRR (before I put Heroes in)
2-0 vs GW Aggro
6-2 vs Delver
2-0 vs Zombies
2-0 vs BR Vamps
2-0 vs Naya Aggro
2-1 vs Wb Tokens
Still need work on my Gr Aggro and Ramp MU but neither are in my meta
And the mirror matches keep avoiding me, but last night the top4 was 3 naya pods (also my team)

Please use card tags in future posts. The Forum Guidelines explain how to do that. ~ Hendrik
