Last friday , I played against a simic deck that was based around the evolve mechanic. I stomped him into the ground. That being said, if you are going to use this card, you're going to obviously want other evolve creatures. With bioshift, you can instant speed draw a decent chuck of cards, have a combat trick, and prevent the fathom mage from being burned. If i was going to take a go at it, I'd use these cards.
I this they could have lowered the P/T and given this haste. I suppose that would have been risky though. I don't like how they this requires other creatures to really use effectively.
Mythic will produce two soldier tokens when ETB, mitigating it's only drawback. Calling it now.

forgot this was the budget forum. derp. gravecrawler and geralf's aren't exactly cheap. but yeah. i like where your deck is going platypus. i think i would go down to 22 land, cuz the deck caps at liliana's shade for 4 mana. or maybe add another underworld or sign in blood.
this thread got me thinking on a trading post deck/ philactory lich / a waty to use volatile rig deck i've been wanting to do for awhile, give me your thoughts on this initial list.
Except for the fact that the 4/1 Hasty flyer gains indestructibility through a sac outlet (or conversely there is a Sorin emblem making those x/1's now x/2's), and Staff of Nin comes at best a turn later. Never mind the fact that you want to be doing other stuff at 6 mana than casting this especially in a meta full of aggro and mid-range. I'd much rather cast Sphinx Revelation for instance, or Terminus in many cases.
Even a Restoration Angel flickering a Tusk + playing Think Twice or another Farseek. Staff of Nin is just too costly and slow for what it does. A nice effect, just costed out of playability.
Sorin Emblem does not increase toughness, pinging the 4/1 removes another creature if they sac so it still has a useful effect. Yes, flickering thragtusk is hilarious, but it a deck that wipes repeatedly, having 2 cards for everyone that they draw is better than flickering thrag. Plus why can't you have both?
I run a similar list, all i can say is dump Restoration Angel and go for the angel that gives all your guys exalted. And run rancor. The trample is just freaking awesome. I can see not running silverblade as he's kinda fragile(just repeating what every else says, I know).
The title of this thread made my day. I run a similar list, and I run augur of bolas over gatecreeper vine so i can find farseek's and board wipes. Plus auger is a 1/3 for 2 mana.
Things Tamiyo does that other walkers in bant don't.

Mana Denial. Not really the most relevant thing, but i liked to abuse it back when frost titan was in.
Doesn't get abrupt decayed like D-Sphere. At least where I play, every time I play D-Sphere or O-Ring, it gets destroyed with in 3 turns. Tamiyo functions as removal as long as you are using her +1, granted it is at 5 mana, 2 turns after D-sphere can come down, but you're paying for a threat represented by the -8, and the utility of the -2.
Her -2 doesn't really on you having creatures.
i'd also throw in dissapate and other counterspells. basically play your things at the end of their turn .

don't really care about the land right now unless i end up running mutilate, but that screws over the indestructibility on the lich.
so i included geralf's and gravecrawler because you can sac them to trading post to get back stuffy doll/ volatile rig and come out ahead.
stuffy doll for the combo with blasphemous act.
staff for the card advantage and the ping.
rakdos keyrune because its the best artifact in standard IMO.
pretty much sums it up.

edit: take away the target player loses one life if it were to cost 1bbb or 2bb
