Semantics. You understand the point, I hope.

When entry if $10 and all entry is divided as credit 2/3 first 1/3 second it makes you play to kill. Period. What do you have against getting paid to care about this on a regular basis?

How can I commend them and also blame them for problems a format is facing primarily because hasbro started paying attention to it?

sorry mod was on my phone and wanted to fire off some responses before work.

Ya'll seem to think I hate the RC. I don't. At all. I think they deserve to get paid, and we deserve a full time committee.

I've read Mr. P's article, I'm Arlo from GDC. Great article by the way, and not really at all to do with what I'm talking about. so these are the arguments I'm seeing:

we dont need an official RC like the other big formats because:
The RC was not responsible for FNM EDH (totally irrelevant argument)
most stores won't run much EDH (also irrelevant argument, and not true. Mine already has 3 scheduled in small town, USA)
If I don't like it, don't go ("if you don't support the troops go to Canada!" Fox News much?)

Adding FNM doesn't necessarily mean it will be competitive (true but off point)
FNM's will be full of collusion and bullsh*t (also very true and sort of why I see a need for a real RC)
Leagues are fun, and so are promos (yep, in agreement there. also not the argument)

EDH RC is a volunteer position, for a format with yearly product and now sanctionable tournaments. That doesn't mix. If you want my money, pay somebody to make sure my game runs right. To me, the RC is totally obsolete, because they are from a bygone era of EDH when there were like 25 good generals TOTAL and absolutely no support from WOTC. They stepped into a void, and rightly so. I commend them for it. Now that the game has grown, either grow with it or pass the torch to somebody else with the time and devotion to do so.

Sadly (for me at least) now that there is such a thing as Friday Night EDH I have to adhere/listen to the banlist. In the past whenever the RC makes a somewhat contentious decision they always have dusted off the tried and true "but don't listen to us play how you want to play." Now that there is sanctioned competitive EDH that is a dead response. I've thought for awhile that with the format growing, and card values headed they direction they have its time to take a hard, long look at the rules committee.

I have nothing personal against them, and have typically applauded moves like banning Primeval Titan and Sylvan Primordial, but frankly they are a terribly outdated solution to a problem that has almost completely changed since the RC's inception.

    Then:
    niche format
    cheap EDH staples
    unsupported by WOTC

    Now:
    huge format
    expensive cards, staple and non
supported by WOTC via commander only product AND competitive play

I've said it before, I'll say it again, ONE SINGLE LINE about banning raffi does not fulfill the RC's responsibility to players when in banning said card they massively compromise the value of a power card.

If you (as in WOTC) are going to introduce EDH to the big leagues, its time for some big league rules love. I liken this to a phenomenon very common in professional MMA:

Cagefighting, boxing, basically any form of combat sports are governed by whatever regional athletic commission exists where you want to promote your fight card. UFC is in a period of international growth so they have begun holding cards in places like Macao, China. Macao does not have an athletic commission. That means no licensing, no medicals, no RULES. Thankfully in situations like this UFC has hired the former head of the Nevada State Athletic Commission (universally regarded as the biggest in the world) Marc Ratner to step in and oversee situations like this with the same ethics code one applies to a stateside job.

My point is, time for a BIG CHANGE. Bring us into the official umbrella completely, or not at all.

Sure I am. I'm saving you a bunch of time, since common sense clearly isn't your strong point. Recruiter is a $175 card that WILL NOT BE REPRINTED. Okay? Also, Sol Ring ain't gonna get banned. Duh.

Ya'll gotta be trolling to be believe this nonsense.

Where would Mortify go in this ranking?

Of the spells I'm considering? At the bottom. Of all the orzhov removal, probably still in the bottom two thirds.

Not a bad card by any means, just there are so many fantastic options.

Run all three. Vindicate is the most versatile, Utter end is a side-grade. I've had good experiences with Judgement, it can't hit your stuff, and most people can agree on what to exile.

pretty much my thoughts. I dislike targeted removal costing more than two, but instant exile non land is pretty good.

The more I think about it I really would like to just add Utter End and keep everything else, find another cut elsewhere. Damn Esper has such amazing removal now (and honestly its all Orzhov besides Supreme Verdict).

Yeah path is great, and I probably should have listed all the good removal. So with path and oblation in the mix where does it fit? Looks like everybody values utter end highly.

I'm looking to add Utter End to my esper build. The current targeted removal in the deck is:

    only really considering Dust.

where does this new card rank with everyone? its great removal at instant speed, but non land and 4 cost are a concern.

I'm digging your list. I was really excited for the new Raka general, then narset came out decidedly creature unfriendly. I want to play dudes! after playing a few games, any cards jump out at you?
