Game win points are completely independent of match win points.

There are separate game win points, but they only matter insofar as that affects the total percentage of game win points earned out of the total number possible for the purpose of determining third- and fourth-tiebreakers.

A match win gives 3 match points, whether that match win is 2-1, 2-0, 2-0-1, 2-1-1, 1-0-1, 1-0, or anything else. The game win points do not in any way, shape, or form, in any circumstance, change that a match win awards three match points.

The exact same holds for a draw, which gives 1 match point. It doesn't matter if you earned 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, or any other number of game win points.

In short: Match win and game win points don't convert into one another. You can lose every match 2-1 and get 3 game win points each round. However, you will still have ZERO match win points.

A win of 1-0 (win game 1 at time, do not start game 2), 1-0-1 (game 2 drawn in turns), and 2-0 (win in two games) all count as a match win and award three match points. There are differences as far as tiebreakers are concerned, but all match wins count for three match points and the differences only matter if third tiebreak becomes relevant.

0-0-1 (do not finish game 1) and 1-1-1 (do not finish game 3) both count as match ties and both award 1 match point. Again, they have different implications for game win% as far as third tiebreak is concerned, but do not differ as far as match points are concerned.

Snapcasters and shocklands are slow to move, so if you have some of either to dump, that would trade really fast. Also, Abrupt Decay, Aether Vial, and Cavern of Souls seem to be in demand. Won't have too much trouble dumping a Thoughtseize either, I don't think.

Have two Tropical Islands and a Bayou on their way.

I don't actually need the second Trop since I already have three, but dual lands are the best sort of trade fodder.

Seems fair enough, although 3 1/1's is probably weaker than 3 cards, particularly in Eternal formats. May make a G/W Vial deck more of a thing, though. I guess it makes sense since those are two of the weenie colors (green not so much, but it gets more oomph at lower CMC). Definitely the token colors, though.

    Planar Clash 2WB

    Enchantment (R)
As Planar Clash enters the battlefield, choose Angels or Demons.
    * Angels - At the beginning of your upkeep, put two 1/1 white Spirit creature tokens with Flying onto the battlefield.
    * Demons - At the beginning of your upkeep, you lose 1 life and draw a card.

Yeah, you can. It's either a "save a creature from being blown out by a combat trick" or a one-creature fog. Neither is complex enough to not be common, and there are nice implications with Inspired and other stuff such as Ojutai's or Tromokratis's hexproof-if-untapped/not in combat.

    Counterstrike 1RW

    Instant (U)
The next time damage is dealt to target creature you control this turn, prevent that damage. If damage is prevented that way, that creature deals damage equal to its power to target creature or player.

    (Too similar to Deflecting Palm?)

I don't go out and buy hundreds of copies of a card, but I don't mind picking up 2-3 playsets of a card that I feel has significant upside. Thragtusk has seen some of the lower-priced copies bought out - there's naught but damaged and moderately played copies under $2 on TCGPlayer, and the number of sellers has dipped from 220 to about 150, so there's a bit of a trend.

Will definitely be a Modern powerhouse if WotC decides to take an approach re:ban list of "ban everything until Splinter Twin is best deck, then ban Splinter Twin". We'll see tomorrow morning.

I have my speculation targets, but they're not fetchlands. I'd rather speculate on $1-2 cards I think can go to $5 (right now, I'm long on Thragtusk, Rattleclaw Mystic, and Savage Knuckleblade and have money where my mouth is on these) than try to arbitrage intertemporally on fetchlands. The ones I want right now are to finish playsets of them for future use.

Although one wonders why send them to me instead of someone else who wants them.

I noticed. Figure now's the time to bite and make sure I have a full playset of the fetchlands before they start trickling upward.

I just got done writing a thirty page research paper. I'm really tired and out of it. Think I'm going to take a nap now. I can already feel my eyes getting sore and my body all achy. On the plus side, six months worth of work has finally produced something tangible.

There's no way in hell I can write more than a one page paper that wasn't double spaced in size twelve font. My papers usually went, "I was here, something was said/done, things happened. The end."

I wish it were double spaced. On the bright side, however, I have now taught the world something new and interesting.

Power 9 only exists in Alpha, Beta, and Unlimited. If you are buying Revised Power 9, it's fake.

If you mean to say unlimited, though, and you have had it authenticated, you really can't do wrong if you have the cash (i.e are not taking out a loan to front the money). Short of Magic going belly-up, power prices are only going to drift and sometimes spike upward.

I've parted off a huge portion of my collection that I've been actively trying to unload, and now I have to figure out what I actively want to keep, and what I would like to have, but don't have a pressing need to hold on to. Of course, at the same time, there's nothing pressing that I am "needing" to acquire at this time, although I'd like to finish my playset of dual lands at some point.

Wasn't that basically the same for Dragon's Maze - the other set that had bonus lands in it? I mean, for a great deal of its time in Standard, that set had Voice of Resurgence, Blood Baron, Ral Zarek, and basically nothing else of merit. Thankfully, I think we all agree that Fate Reforged isn't nearly that bad since it has multiple playable rares and Mythics - Tasigur has proven its viability in Modern/Legacy for one, and there are some other widely played rares.

With that said, I can only see prices on FRF cards going down because of the fetchlands and because FRF will be drafted twice as much as DGM was - FRF being drafted as FKK and as DDF means packs will be opened for roughly six months instead of three, and fetchlands in the packs will ensure that people continue to want to crack packs at a higher clip than they would in their absence, meaning that prices on the actual FRF cards will have to go down that much lower to compensate.

In short, I expect pretty much every card in FRF except for maybe Ugin to take a 20-30% haircut in the next couple of months. Thankfully, the set isn't just an Ugin lottery, but if it does become that, expect prices to crash utterly. I think that's less likely because you can't jam 4 copies of an 8 drop in really any deck except maybe Modern Tron, and even then, Karn being 7 instead of 8 is something of a big deal as well.
