Not sure where to actually post this but for the past week ive been slamming my head on the wall like playing dark souls for hours about
my legacy DnT sideboard. everytime i take something out to switch it for something else it only takes me an hour before i go back and go,
I really needed this. So like dr.house i need to bounce the ideas off of people.
I'm basing this sideboard off of the last three star city opens for worcester, ma (there's one coming in may so im testing now till then)
2 Enlightened Tutor(one drop able to pick through virtually ANYTHING in my sideboard that i may side in along with tutor)
1 Council's judgement (one-of, the 'truename' killer)
2 Spirit of the labrynith (if my op. has brainstorms, jace's, library's, etc)
2 Ethersworn canonist (she hates elves shenanigans)
1 Rest in peace (grave hate pt1)
1 Grafdigger's cage (grave hate pt2)
2 hushwing gryff (true name, goblins, some elf cards)
1 circle of protection red (i had 9 matches every year, and everytime 4-5 of those matches were burn)
2 oblivion ring (show n tell, all around removal)
1 runed halo (clean up for anything that gets around me, esp. if it's sulfuric vortex, had a funny ass match, that's all im gonna say) flickerwisp it for lulz, etc etc
mind you, kinda running on a budget, but it's your standard DnT, i have access to any of the cards listed, thorn, fiend hunter, etc etc
i would LOOOOOOOVE opinions of any kind, im just worried im going a little heavy on the removal, i rock 3 swords, 1 path, and in the S/B there's another 3 removal. And with storm in mind (even though i've seen virtually no high tide, it's all tendrils now which makes me sad, i really liked high tide) i was bouncing the 'should i go mindbreak trap or 2 drop that gives me hexproof that i can vial in after he's done combo'ing out' plus if i can keep him safe with mom
so yes, educate me oh mtgsalvation, i need your help
correct me if im wrong, but it plays out like this (in order):
Cloudshift (naming Mage)
Mage (naming bridge)
Bridge (which is now can't be played) Fizzles
I could just Cloudshift mage whenever i needed to keep anything away?
2: My opponent has a big ol' nasty Tarmogoyf or what we call it on the broadcast i do "the green meanie" LULZ and i declare blockers with my Halimar Excavator before combat damage is assigned i use Curfew or Peel from Reality. No combat damage assigned, correct?
please tell me this isn't magic's attempt to attract a more younger crowd.
they're more interested in yu-gi-oh and pokemon, just leave it to the mature gamers. i don't need to pop into my next legacy tourney and sit across from a 11 yr old
So, i was lucky enough to fall into a large sum of cash due to unfortunate circumstances, long story short, im jumping from Goblins (made a couple of top 20 at a couple of GP's) to Jund
(*reasoning: Jund, in my opinion, is more aggressive and has more answers than my goblins*)
now after pricing from other areas, starcity has less of this in stock at the moment but other sites run (no beta lands....im not that boss LOL) but runs at the most 2414.00
now a couple of questions before i dive into this (before you ask, i've tested the deck out in proxy's during casual legacy games and MWS, fits my play style, i was never a counter guy otherwise i'd rock U/W Miracles or sneak and show)
1: how do you think the Jund deck would run against counter decks? (example: show and tell, etc etc)
and
2: With the popularity of Jund, do you think any of the cards on this list are in the cross-hairs of magic's ban list for legacy
reason for the questions
1: Just curious on the match-up
and
2: because i don't wanna dump the money for say, tarmogoyf and magic be like, Oh, we've got a stick up our ass, we're gonna ban it.
Yea, i play in worcester's legacy events, and you'd be sick of all the delver decks in the first 3 games of play. it happens ALOT
usually it's either
Delver / Merfolk (FoW's) / or storm (counters galore)
i slapped 3 in there, and i can always sideboard it
i did that because frankly, i be a poor magic player, and cavern is kinda expensive, aether vials though, would be damn good in it.
Edit - i ran into the issue of first turn, lackey, second turn instigator, swing lackey, drop commander, then swing drop krenko, or chieftain, then 5 turns in, im out of cards, since red sucks at card drawing, i needed something to feed my hand, hence why it got shoved in there
My goblin deck has been seeing some massive wins in legacy due to Vexing Shusher (you should see the face of counter delver decks when this card hits board, then they know they can't keep up with the damage)
Which brings me to this question
I LOVE Browbeat and i've rocked in goblins since day one (paired up with 4 Goblin Gernades, it's beast)
Should i replace the four browbeats with Goblin Ringleader, i've always used browbeat as a way to fill my hand back up with burn (either they take 5 or take a chance that im NOT going to draw three burn spells)
It's a hard decision, but im thinking i'll get some feedback before i proceed.
Im even surprised im asking, but it is something that seems very basic but im not sure, and just to clarify, it came up in a casual magic game my friends and i play every saturday.
First Question: The defending player controls Stuffy Doll (it's 'target player' is not important really) and the Attacking player controls a Primordial Hydra lets say, it's a 100/100. In combat i know the Doll isn't going to be destroyed, but does the trample damage still go through? or does the doll soak up 100 damage?
Second Question: Also about Stuffy Doll, there was a ruling not too long ago that infinite loops result in a draw, so if the doll is enchanted with a Guilty Conscience does that create an infinite loop. ( i said no, because once the targeted player is dead, the loop is over )
Player A: Plays Coalition Flag on a Storm Crow in a game vs legacy infect deck
Does the infect decks creature/spell pumps only target the flagbearer or does the infect player get to pump his creature as well

1: I cast Meddling Mage to stop my opponent from casting that pesky blue card *insert any blue card* on his main phase he casts Ensnaring Bridge , i then Cloudshift the mage naming now, Ensnaring Bridge
correct me if im wrong, but it plays out like this (in order):

And finally
3: this one im clueless on, when can i activate Isochron Scepter Orim's Chant
please tell me this isn't magic's attempt to attract a more younger crowd.

i mean
1: i can go tap the other guy's wasteland, and, oh in response he'll use it anyways
and
2: i mean, i could tap the other guy's mana, if i go to tap his mana, he can just tap it in response right?
Rishadan's port 101 is in session and you are my professor lol help me understand the card
say if i had Halimar Excavator and i activated Mutavault
does this count as an ally entering play. please for the love of god say yes
Just found it actually, looked for it, but after you mentioned it, i looked some more and boom, found it, thanks
(*reasoning: Jund, in my opinion, is more aggressive and has more answers than my goblins*)
I'm going to buy this as a starting point and alter it as i play with it

And yea, i just read in another thread about the stuffy doll targeting thing. So my artifact friend will have to fear the green player now LULZ
