Run value, delve your deck, remove chaff no longer needed to both avoid commander tax AND leave nothing but what YOU want in your yard. Seems far better than Dralnu.
So, with the printing of Daretti, Scrap Savantand scrap mastery red becomes a viable color for either running or supplementing an artifact deck. So, I've been entertaining the idea of either Izzet artifacts and Grixis artifacts. I'm thinking of running either Jhoira of the Ghitu or Nekusar the Mindrazer. I have the shells, I have the tutors, I have every expensive card you can imagine so budget is NOT an option. I'm looking for possible commanders and cards from out of left field.
Grixis dilutes the mana base but you get the much needed tutors, but, those tutors come at the cost of other artifact slots.
Deck is based around a package like this:
All the red artifact stuff.
All the blue artifact stuff.
All the black tutors.
All the good artifacts.
So, with the new change my store has taken on I'm branching out and heading up the 1 v 1 French. I'm all about EDH, it's the only format I play, but I'm clueless as to whats good in French. I'm not ignorant to the variant, I'm just not sure about what's good and what's not.
That being said, I've put together a Zurgo list, a Thrun list, a Narset list and an Anaz and Cymede list. Thoughts? Also, who are the best commanders for edh.
White has all the equipment, artifact and enchant tutors as well as all the Weenies to help out. Each of these three is quick to play at 1,2 and 3 cmc, you just have to choose your subtheme:
I just put together a creature heavy Teeg deck focusing on the enchantress package and all its benefits, works pretty well. The only combos the deck runs is winter orb + muse and rest in peace + helm. Otherwise I cast Teeg, weather the hate I get, cast crazy creatures and beat face.
So, I'm toying with the idea of it, also thinking of running Radha as my commander. Help me out, give me all the good land destruction you can think of in gruul like dwarven blastminer, avalanche riders and hate like primal order. I know strip mine, beast within, etc, it's them stuff out of left field that I want, like ravenous baboons.
Another idea that recently came to me was a "reverse assassin" where everyone gets another player at random to try and protect and prevent from losing (while also trying not to lose themselves).
Obviously there are some rules for this, like you cant be forced to only protect yourself, and I'm still trying to think rules through.
We tried a variation of that before, soooooo much fun!
It happens, my group shot it down at first too. However, I got a 3 player going once and the other two guys had such a good time they spread the word. Sad, it's loads of fun, really, especially when you have all the old and new planechase cards!!!
Have you tried a scoring system or even "everyone tries to kill the guy to their right only", those games are always fun.
We play planechase commander, after playing for so long it REALLY livens up the meta.
We set it so that you can only roll planar die on each players upkeep ONLY, otherwise the game would slow to a crawl. Best thing is, ANY deck can win a game of planechase commander and its really, really fun!!
I run Godo in a fairly serious playgroup, Sharuum, Zur, Arcum just to name a few and honestly, he wrecks. I'll outline a match today, as we had a newbie belly up to the table.
Newb: Mono red...so terrible, go ahead, I'll just spell-crumple Godo, lol oh God. People said you're THE guy for edh around here and this is what you play? Hurry up and lose.
Me: (mind you, it's me, 5 regulars and this guy, whom none of us have ever seen) You die first then.
T1: Land into sol ring
T2: Land into thran dynamo
T3: Land into extraplanar lense, into Malignus. Fork omnath players Explosive vegetation.
T4: Land into Godo, pyroblast a hinder, find SOfaf, equip to malignus, swing and cast Savage beating, killing two players with a double striking 22/22 with two combat phases.
