thanks guys! how many aether vial can I have out?

Four, but you'll only need one. As for land, I'd run probably 20-21.

I left out Krovikan Mist because I didn't know if he wanted to run more creatures or more spells in his deck. :p There's a ton of options here, lol.

Oh, my bad. I'm relatively new to the site and didn't know where to post this at.

As for the Aggro / Mill thing. . .yeah. I'm new to building decks. I figured it was a good strategy to have a back up. Thanks for the tips, I do have a set of doom blade and some ponder. I can probably get some duress from my friends.

    Thanks, it's appreciated.

You looking for a deck made of cards with the Phantasm in the name, or illusions in general?

If you're shooting just for illusions in general, I suggest something like this:

Phantasmal Image is a bit cost prohibitive but it's got *amazing* utility. Choose Illusion with Adaptive Automaton and bounce their blockers with Vapor snag and just run them down.

Add some more illusions if you want straight aggro or more counters or bounce if you want to play control.

Hey, so I'd like some suggestions on improving this deck; it does decently on simulators, but I know it's not exactly optimal. I tried to find a balance between doing damage, mill and having board control but didn't quite get all the way there.

I'm relatively new to magic and this is one of my first decks (third, and the first I've made without help or input from my friends) and I'd appreciate a critique. I'm sure there's synergies that I've missed somewhere.

The basic idea for this deck started when the friend that got me into magic suggested that I try my hand at making a theme deck. I originally leaned towards making an unblockable aggro deck but noticed a combo with Bloodchief Ascension (one of my friend's favorite cards) and a card called Mindcrank. I realised that if I could find a way to guarantee damage to charge BA I could mill someone to infinity if they discarded, got milled, or took any damage.

The deck changed a lot then, because I thought it was an awesome concept. I went for Invisible Stalker because, hey, Hexproof is pretty awesome and it charges my Ascension. Tormented Soul exists only as a 1 drop to fit the theme of unblockable damage to charge Ascension; I don't think it fits the theme as well as possible.

From there I thought, "The damage is nice to charge the Enchantment, but shouldn't I also try and mill them at the same time? This **** is a mill deck after all, I have a theme to stick to." So I ended up with Trepanation Blade. It mills, charges my Ascension and kills people all by itself with a little luck. Only problem is that my meta runs a lot of artifact hate. Slant

So, I had two win conditions and I had to pick one or the other to theme the deck around from there. I chose to further my Mill over my straight damage so I plugged in Glimpse the Unthinkable and Mind Funeral; they're both low mana and they mill a buttload of cards. T4 Glimpse with a charged Ascension ends games and causes nerdrage (same deal for Mind Funeral).

Since this basically became a combo deck, I needed protection: Counterspell and Vapor Snag jumped to mind first. Cheap removal and protection that don't slow me down *too* much? Yes plz.

They ended up being not quite enough by way of control, so Ghastlord of Fugue makes his appearance. Unblockable goodness for the equipment, and I get to preemptively remove all their hate or fatties? I love this guy!

All that said (or rather explained) the deck still stalls pretty hard sometime. I thought my mana curve was alright but I don't have a solid grasp of it yet. I don't know if it's just terribad luck or I need to mana-set my deck more often but I end up with handful of worthless too often for my taste.

Any help or suggestions would be awesome. Grin

TL;DR I want some last second help to iron this deck out before I take it to the kitchen table as my first self-built deck. Help me impress my friends and I shall reward you with much respect and many interwebs.

Please read the rules to the legacy forum prior to posting. Deck threads in the main area are not allowed. Warning issued due to low post count. -Warden
