I am very interested in how this is going to play out with Zulaport Cutthroat.

I'm just glad they won't be playing together with Rally the Ancestors

Wouldn't matter even if they would. While Rally would trigger some life gain on the Pious side, Cutthroat and the Wayward side rely on creatures dying and Rally exiles all the creatures it brings back, which does not cause death triggers.

I think it's so that you can use the main effect on the land you are awakening. Since targets are chosen on cast, and the land becomes a creature on resolution, you wouldn't be able to awaken and put the counters on the awakened land if it said creature.

    So...
Were the vampires Eldrazi creations now? Shaped and formed from some desire to consume and gain energy so they could create the spawn and scion who can absorb and consume from non-living sources?

It does seem to be strongly suggested that the Zendikar vampires used to be a type of Eldrazi drone that somehow managed to become something else.

You will consume. You will scour clean. The remnants of the broken must be consumed and cleansed.

Is it just me or is that suggesting that the multiverse is not the original state of Dominia? That there was at some point a single universe that somehow turned into the various planes. If so it suggests that the purpose of the Eldrazi is to somehow return the various planes into one.

I figured Ugin named them, as he's more familiar with colorless magic. Either way, or like Hurricanes, they were named. How do planets have names? It's not like anyone called Ulamog by name and got a response in the story anyway. These could be the functional names given to them by the three. Or names that the inhabitants of a dying plane gave to the phenomenon that was occurring. The same way the word hurricane for example is DERIVED FROM the name of the Caribbean god of wrath, Hurricun who was responsible for the hurricane phenomenon.

This story was, again, a whole lot of nothing. Where is Kiora? Where are Ugin and Nahiri? Sorin? What are the characters planning to do besides evacuate settlements and get into trivial fights that accomplish nothing with the brood lineage? It feels like I'm reading novel-length filler. Just ugh. I expected interesting Jace and Ugin discussions about the intellectual battle against the Eldrazi. I expected Kiora, Nissa and Gideon to discuss tactical force against them, to keep the Eldrazi at bay as the plan was set into motion. I expected Nahiri and Sorin to bring to the table what had been done before and how to revise things. And to let us know what has happened between them all these years.

Instead, a few character show up, hack some things, and discuss Eldrazi corruption.

I think the issue is that they don't want to start with that until the set is actually out otherwise they would be eating into too much of the set's story before it even came out. So for now they can only give us lead-in/filler stuff.

He targeted my creature, I paused time, tried to activate the sac to kill him, would not let me select the ability on the enchantment. Fubar. :/

Are you sure you are actually clicked on the enchantment and not the creature? Mine works for me, but I have to point the cursor away from the cards to actually highlight the enchantment.

For a while I kept forgetting to click the pause button to do stuff like that which is infuriating.

Yep. Had it selected, then clicked to bring it to big picture and there was no red box around the ability to click. Who knows why. I had red mana available and was paused in time.

That actually happened to me once during one of Jace's story matches and twice in Lilliana's final story match. I don't know what triggered the bug, but earlier in the matches I was able to activate abilities but after it did, for the rest of the match I couldn't activate any abilities. I forget what it was in the Jace match, but I know in the Lilliana matches I couldn't activate the zombie lord's fetch from graveyard ability or Rogue's Passage. Both cards had the red glow around them signifying that the conditions are right to activate an ability on the card, but once I zoomed in, I couldn't use the ability. I'd hoped the bug was isolated to the story matches, though.

Atm theres a quest where you have to counter spells. Can I do this with my own decks or do I have to do that with the premade decks too just like the archtype quests?

I'm pretty sure that as long as it is not an archtype quest, you can use your own deck. I know I've completed the +1/+1 counter quest with a deck I put together myself.

The only thing I've seen affect which cards the wizard suggests is mana cost. It seems to have a particular mana curve it wants you to stick to, so if you pick a bunch of low cost cards it suggests more higher cost cards and vice versa. Doesn't seem to affect the card types it suggests, though.

Has anyone else randomly lost the ability to activate their cards' abilities. I haven't had it happen vs another player or the solo battle (yet, anyways), but one time in the Jace campaign vs the white deck, and at least a couple time during Lilliana's 4 demon fight it happened. The card would have the glow signalling it had an ability to activate, but when I zoomed in, the ability text would not be highlighted and clicking on it would do nothing. Was very annoying since I couldn't use the zombie lord's ability to bring back my zombie cards. There was also one time in the last Jace fight when I cast Jace's Mindseeker, it only milled one card and I didn't get to cast the one spell it did mill.

So with us having 5 Elves now (I am going to assume we will pick the trapper) and it being somewhat safe I think to assume we can get at least another 3 or 4 across the next two packs, I wonder if that is a sign that forcing G/B elves is actually a reasonable idea in Origins drafts.

My initial pick was the throwing knife, and I still think it won't be a bad pick if we end up going with it, but I have changed my mind and think the Foundry is the better pick.

Went with Read the Bones. We're not exactly committed to white (and it looks like we are going to be out of it at this point), and it looks like Black is fairly open. The recluse is a decent card but not as good as Read the bones.

So, I think I am going to wait for the Steam version to come out (was going to make that the one I play mainly once I heard no cross play, but now I'm not sure how much I'll bother playing the iPad version now). I downloaded and played for about two hours, during which, there were the following issues:

    1. Laggy play and long load time. When I selected to start a match, there would be a fairly lengthy load time before the match would start, there would also be a 15+ second load time between switching most screens. And when it wasn't loading it would feel like the app is in some sort of constant slow mode. It's pretty obvious it is rather horribly optimized considering the device requirements they set for it on the app store, but this is kind of silly (I'm on an iPad Mini Retina, btw).

    2. At least 3 times, the app just sort of locked up. I would have to minimize the app and open it again before I could continue (one of the times it went back to the loading screen when I resumed, so I am pretty sure that one at least was a crash). One of the times it happened when I selected to open a pack (fortunately, did not lose the pack), and another was just when I was navigating my collection.

    3. The touching seems to have some issues with functionality or responsiveness, mainly noticeable when I tried selecting which lands to tap for a card, which just really did not work at all.

    4. Finally, one time when it was switching from a game to one of those skill quests, it completely locked up my iPad. I could not use the home button to minimize or anything. I had to force my iPad to shut down and start it up again before I could do anything with it.

I'm still going to play this, and I'm sure the app will get the bugs ironed out eventually, but yeah I am waiting for the pc version.

I almost want to take the Pilgrimage, but considering Leaf Glider also ramps us and considering our current pick, we'd probably rather have more creatures, that is what I went with.

I think the Elemental is the pick here, though I can see either the Throwing knife or Stratus Walk working.
