Jul 21, 2012BringIT posted a message on The costs of playing modernThe point of fetch lands is that you can fetch non basics as well. The blue in my Dragonstorm is a small 3 card splash. I don't need a full land for it. The fetch allows me to get a red and a blue land. Works every time.Posted in: BringIT Blog

The only way that you can become more confident when playing is simply to play as much as you can. Only after like half a year I felt confident of myself and even then it took another 2 months before I won anything.
For deckbuilding, I suggest picking a card you like or have an idea about. For example, you may like Alchemist's Refuge. Try and build a deck around it. You're not going to rush of and win immediately obviously, but if you stick to the same deck and tweaking it as you go along you will eventually find one that wins.
I would also suggest playing online. You can play on Magic Online (which costs) or Cockatrice (which is free but it is player dependent for change of phases, life totals e.t.c).
If the plaeyrs you play with seem like helpful people, you could always ask there opinion on Card A over Card B for a deck or something. I still do when I'm not 100 % sure about something (especially in sealed or draft).
If you have another question, please feel free to ask and I'll try to help.
If you wish to play cockatrice, hit me up and we could play some friendly games. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Maybe different version of Chinese (can't tell the difference because there isn't a Nissa there) or different print run perhaps after the mistake was fixed?
If you could have an 8 - man draft with any player, and any format, who and what would you pick?
The list of players could be anyone that can play magic, i.e. you best friend, a family member or even LSV if you feel like it
The draft format can be any format that is actually draftable (i.e. you can't pick three random sets; cube is an option however), but it can be any format that you like and for whichever reason you prefer (it's a personal favorite or challenging for example).
Yeah. We haven't had anyone Top 8 something big yet (although we have had some very good performances over the last three years or so)and I'd love to be the first to do something like that.
2) Build as many Modern decks as possible without proxies and have enough to lend to people so we can play large events.
3) Own a playset of Goyfs and at least 2 of each Modern legal fetchland.
4) Finally get one of those damn mats that you get for Top 8 in a PTQ or WMCQs. The amount of times this has eluded me is heartbreaking.
I'd also like to be the first Cypriot player to Top 8 a GP or Pro Tour, but that's not happening any time soon.
Granted, the mot popular sizes are 360 (for 8), 450 (for 10), 540 (for 12) and 720 (for 16). My 1080 cards list on the other hand did not go down that well...
Isn't it 3 THS packs, 2 BNG and then 1 "promo" pack?
'Goyf (Ooh Yeah)
FOIL Sword of Light and Shadow
Sword of Fire and Ice
FOIL Gifts Ungiven
Aether Vial
FOIL Kitchen finks + 2 normal
FOIL PLUMEVEIL (OMG!)
Playable uncommons (Spell Snare, Path to Exile, e.t.c)
Well chuffed.
Also, mill isn't something most people would do in a draft, so it might be possible to make something sick.
Gift of Orzhova is pretty good, but personally I'd take the creature first.
A friend of mine had his Kuldotha and Storm Modern decks stolen (and I mean everything: deckbox, sleeves, sideboard). Real shame, especially when the deck has a borrowed card in it (in this case a foil Scalding Tarn).:-/
