That dinosaur feels like it would have been better if it were slightly pushed. Like drop the cmc by two and make it rare. Alternately, I wouldn't hate it if it stayed uncommon at 7, but it gave your dudes +0/+1

that's precisely what's happening. Just the fact that we're banning cards in standard again attests to that. The goal was to print cards that wouldn't need to be banned. I remember when the stoneforge/jace ban happened. Same story. They're starting to get a little lax in r&d. Hopefully they get it under control in the next few sets. We can't have standard unhealthy. Or rather they can't, that's a good chunk of revenue

This is why I miss core sets. All the fanboys and girls got their new jaces and such, and we had room for more plane specific walkers in the block cycles. Don't get me wrong, Gideon is my dude, but does anybody really need 7 of them? I kind of wish they would just focus on new walkers exclusively for a while. There are so many walkers that have 5,6, even 7 different printings. I don't even get excited by new versions of walkers except in cases like sarkhan, where he essentially became a different entity

I'm a horror geek, so I'm really digging the mummies. I like everything about this set, save for the art. This art is sweet, but the gods are reminding me of that cat/Sphinx thing from mirrormask.

So far the art in the set is really disappointing. That God just looks goofy. That crocodile is one hell of an uncommon, though. Possibly too similar to the art from emperor crocodile, but I'll take it.

A couple years ago when I was still grinding this would have annoyed me, but I'm a filthy casual, now. This just makes the confusing, murky rulings on split cards cut and dry. It basically treats the split cards as one card, whereas before they were treated as two.

I love this card, and the artwork is sweet, but I'm getting more than a bit tired of upshifting rarities. Especially if this ever gets reprinted at uncommon again. I can get the justification, but sometimes we can have powerful uncommons. At least we could at some point

I don't really like the idea of changing the card backs. It just kind of invites a level of cheating. The Arabian nights back was originally going to be the same color as the packs. They were really inconsistent with the printing back in the day for a number of reasons. Back when type 2 was a thing, and had a restricted list, people used to cheat their opponents strip mine to the top and pray it was their only land. There was a point where playing alpha cards was frowned upon for similar reasons. And unless your sleeves are black or brown, you can still make out the back of the cards. I stopped grinding after the third time I thought mtg was going to die. Now I'm a filthy casual, so I don't really care much either way, it just wouldn't be a good idea to change the card backs of a 25 year old game. People had fits each time the front of the cards changed, and that has zero impact on the game. Changing the backs would wreak havoc on organized play. Even with sleeves most pros still used the checklist cards, and I doubt it was their choice. The new invocations don't even look like magic cards. If that's the direction they're going in, I could see a full card overhaul, including the back. Those things are mad fugly, though so I hope it doesn't happen.

I feel like the commander 2016 cards had something similar going on. Especially with the foils. They have about the thickness of the Chinese counterfeit cards. And the majority of mine came out of the box warped. I hope it's a fluke. They like to change their process every few years. I feel like they've caught failures in the past (the super saturated mirage printing process comes to mind) I hope that's all it is. Mtg is teetering very close to losing me again. If this block is equivalent to urzas saga (combos galore, artifacts everywhere) then we need to prepare for amonkhet to feel like masques. If anyone was playing back then, you'll know what I mean

I don't know that I dig that kaladesh looking wurmcoil. That war and peace tho.....

Know what this card's problem is? It's not looter scooter. It's a sick card, but it doesn't loot whilst scooting. Kinda wish this one came first
