Blasphemous Act will deal 6 damage to Gisela as she prevents 7 of its damage (13/2=6.5=7 rounded up). The damage triggers Repercussion but before its ability goes on the stack Gisela will die as a state-based action because she has 6 damage marked on her. When Repercussion's ability resolves, it will deal 6 damage to you and Gisela isn't in play anymore to prevent half of Repercussion's damage.
I'm already using Flinthoof Boar (it's too awesome to not play) and I'm trying to avoid creatures with less than 1 toughness. I'll be honest I've been considering 1-2 Skarrg Guildmage MD because there's not much instant-speed removal that deals with the 4/4 lands it makes and it can make everything else trample over spirit tokens. Thanks for your advice
I'm playing Jund Aggro at FNM tonight. I can't decide between playing Falkenrath Aristocrat or Hellrider MD. I'm leaning toward the Aristocrat because it flies over Thragtusk and doesn't get wiped out by Ultimate Price but Hellrider is also just as deadly for it's own reasons. Which matchups is each card great at?
Can you draw the two and play them before the discard happens?
No you cannot because you do not get priority until the spell has finished resolving. You must discard two cards immediately after you draw from the Faithless Looting
I was watching the World Magic Cup 2012 and I saw Gabriel Ortiz try to counter with a mana leak a Falkenrath Aristocrat casted by Yang.
The vampire was a illegal target to mana leak since it was casted with a Cavern of Souls... Then he had put the mana leak in his graveyard.
The question is: Is he supposed to put the mana leak in the graveyard or in the hand? Cuz if the mana leak had a illegal target, it couldn't be casted after all... it wouldn't leave the hand to begin with..
The Aristocrat was NOT an illegal target for the mana leak spell. The mana leak simply did not work on it.
If an object on the stack is uncounterable, it can still be targeted by spells and abilities. Thus the mana leak targeted it and resolved as normal, but unfortunately Cavern says that it simply can't be countered and than leak goes to the GY without doing anything.
In summary, it was not an illegal spell; just a useless one.
i understand that both cards enter the battlefield simultaneous, does that mean that i have to select another target for the Metamorph? or can i have the Metamorph enter the battlefield as the Craterhoof Behemoth that is entering the battlefield at the same time as it?
The phyrexian metamorph cannot become a copy of the behemoth that is entering the battlefield at the same time as it is. The craterhoof behemoth needs to be on the battlefield before the metamorph comes into play in order for it to be copied.
...oh and the metamorph's copy effect doesn't target anything.
I passed my rules advisor exam and my first L1 practice test earlier this week. My mentor told me that the next step is for me to start judging FNMs under his supervision. I read the "judging at regular REL" guide and also an article called Deviate like hell,". Are there any other articles on the net that that I should read about making decisions and other kinds of judgment calls at regular RELs?
Note that adding mana doesn't use the stack thus your opponent doesn't need priority to do it.
That is not entirely true.
According to 605.3a of the comp. rules, players either need to have priority, or be casting a spell/activating an ability, or be in a situation where something is asking them to pay mana (i.e. mana leak). Those are the restrictions to activating mana abilities.
Now that I wonder more about it, I think I'm just overreacting about it. But it just irritates me when that particular guy shoots his mouth off after losing, like he does almost everytime he gets beaten by "noobs". I like playing Magic but I hate disrespectful opponents.
Oh and one more thing. If I'm playing a game and someone sitting beside me is insulting and/or taunting their opponent, is it right that I call out for a judge to be made aware of it even if it's not my game?
This happened a few months ago at an FNM but it still annoys me. Somebody with a T1 deck played against a less skillfull player who had some rogue deck in the last round. The rogue-deck player won the match and it upset the guy who had been playing for a lot longer and with a seemingly better deck. The loser got so irritated that in a conversation at the table he said loudly "...but it's shameful to get beaten by someone like this guy!" The guy that won replied "Hey. I'm standing right here." and the loser said back "Yeah. So what?"
To me that is plain disrespectful no matter where it happens. If someone said that to me or my friends at a PTQ or Grand Prix where judges are working, would that guy get thrown out of the tournament for saying that?
I'm sorry if I seem to be overreacting but I just don't like it when I hear something like that.
If I have a Sublime Angel, Snapcaster Mage, and Geist of Saint Traft in play, and I declare an attack with the Geist only....
Since I'm the priority player, can I place the Angel spawning on the stack and then the exalted? Or does exalted go on the stack?
Since you control all the exalted triggered abilities and the trigger that creates the angel token, you can palce those abilities on the stack in any order you wish. It doesn't matter if you're the "priority" player. Regardless, the attacking Geist of Saint Traft will not receive the exalted bonus from his angel token because it was not in play at the time that you declared Geist as the attacker.

Also I'm looking for a 2 drop creature that can be cast with Burning-Tree Emissary. I'm thinking between Mogg Flunkies or Crimson Muckwader. Any help and suggestions are appreciated.

No. When the arsonist's ability is put on the stack and a target must be chosen for it, the spirit token won't be on the battlefield yet.

You can only help a player out AFTER their match is finished, that is when the match slip is filled out and is signed by both players.

That doesn't matter. If a player presents an illegal deck to a judge. He/she will be penalized.
