So I haven't built a deck in a while but I've really only built a couple successful ones and they were both pretty easy styles (infect and elf). I wanted to try a different kind of deck and also a multicolored deck to see if I could build a relatively cheap (mana and money) deck with cards I've had laying around. I also wanted to make it modern because of all the buzz that's been going on with this format. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
So you're saying, just leave in safe passage? Now that I look at it again, I'm starting to see its superiority to fog, even for the extra mana.
Alright, next time I order I'll definitely use tcg player (which will hopefully be soon!). Channelfireball is actually also very good, but shipping does get pretty high.
Yes, I do agree with you 100%, the only problem is that I got lucky and got one tusk in a pack but my local magic store is completely sold out of tusks, champions of the parish, and a few more necessary cards for the deck. I'll probably just order them from amazon but its still bit inconvenient. What do you think about fog? I personally think its more reliable than safe passage but am not 100% on what to run.
I also took away 2 thragtusks and added a couple timely reinforcements just in case. I'm on the fence of replacing the safe passage I added with fogs, because, if I'm really in a pickle, it's much more feasible to save the mana to play a green one drop than a white 3 drop imo.
Yeah I do have a lot of one drops now that I look at it haha. Also, the original deck list is completely up to date, but the one on this page isn't as up to date as the original one will be.
After re-reading a lot of the replies from this thread, I redid the deck list to make it as practical and as strong as possible. So this is the most revised (but not final) version of the deck. I just wanted to see how this one would play out in contrast to the other decklist.
I'm thinking that the final list would look something like this:
I also added a couple doomed travelers to give me a few more options early in the game, and another cloudshift. Just need a few more cards and I'll be able to playtest it with accurate results.
I didn't want to take out a "last chance" completely, but I like safe passage better. I haven't built the deck yet because my budgets are a little low for mtg at the moment haha (Mostly because I just spent it on an infect deck I'd been working on for a while), This deck is next on my list and I already had about half the cards I needed. I took out Garruk for now, but am going to put in the original Thragtusk I had in.
I think borderland rangers would be a good swap for thraben doomsayer. What about Replacing the Thragtusk in this deck with Garruk? I really do like him, he worked great in my elvish wolf-token deck, great combo with wirewood herald.
Thanks!

Seeing that it is mostly creature based, I think she would be a good addition, what if I took out 1 strangleroot geist and 1 thragtusk to put 2 Somberwald Sage ?
I'm thinking that the final list would look something like this:
3x Avacyn's Pilgrim
3x Borderland Ranger
4x Strangleroot Geist
3x Champion of the Parish
3x Arbor Elf
2x Sigarda, Host of Herons
3x Doomed Traveler

7x Plains
4x Sunpetal Grove
7x Forest
4x Gather the Townsfolk
