I believe event was sealed, except top 8 was draft. I believe what you are looking at is his draft deck, which was more than likely a D/C, possibly in pack 2?
Regeneration is a replacement effect that replaces destruction with the above, and doesn't use the stack. An ability like the one on Lotleth Troll, on the other hand, will use the stack, and you can respond to activating the regeneration ability by destroying said creature. Since the regeneration shield hasn't been activated yet, the creature will be destroyed.
Just to further that, the creature will be destroyed if you do not respond to the destroy effect. If you respond to the second destroy effect with another regeneration ability on Lotleth Troll, it will live.
@Kahedron: I've been under the impression that "it gains haste" in Mimic Vat is equivalent to "that token has haste" in Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker, and that the haste ability is a copiable value of the token. Is that not right?
I believe in the case of Mimic Vat, the token is granted haste. In the case of Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker, the token itself has haste. The wording is slightly different.
In the case of the token, its granted haste the same way that another permanent would grant it haste (i.e. Racecourse Fury), the token itself doesn't actually have haste.
This was a situation I encountered at FNM this past Friday. I had only Obzedat, Ghost Council out and said pass turn. I began to exile the ghost council but my opponent said before your turn ends I cast Tribute to Hunger.
You were also using a shortcut to get directly to the end step. Your opponent has to pass priority as you declare the end of your post-combat main phase (prior to the beginning of the end step) which was never done in this case. Granted, it wouldn't have mattered in this particular situation since Obzedat is a triggered ability that can be responded to, but it is still important to note (and clarify) if your opponent was casting tribute when they had priority at the end of your second main phase, or while the trigger for Obzedat was on the stack.
In that example, no matter when you cast the unsummon (and assuming it resolves), the Silverheart will die.
If the unsummon is cast after blockers are declared (and before damage is assigned), the Wolfir will be a 4/4 and will die to the damage the goliath does, while you Goliath will live with 4 damage marked on it.
If the unsummon is cast after damage has been resolved, your Goliath will have died taking 8 damage from the Wolfir. If the unsummon on the Elves resolves, the Wolfir will return to being a 4/4 with 5 damage marked on it.
Okay, but by saying that it's someone he knows you are implying that he's being framed by someone else on purpose. Which I guess is possible, but it sounds like something out of a mystery novel.
I'm not saying that. I personally believe he is guilty, but there has been no proof released. His actions thus far to me can either be seen as someone who is simply protecting themselves by not speaking to the police and possibly incriminating themselves for something they didn't do, or by someone who is guilty. I think the scenario of someone using his info is far fetched, but its still possible. All it takes is a simple person with a vendetta.
A large majority of people thought TSG was one of the "good guys", and ruining his name in this community (as well as further job opportunities) is a great way to extract personal revenge.
Again, its far fetched, but not out of the realm of possibility, and definitely not that difficult with a little bit of time and effort.
The arguments that his account got hacked etc is pretty far fetched. No hacker that is smart enough to code and send a key logger is going to try to hack your eBay account (eBay accounts are worthless) and then try to sell magic cards on the same hacked eBay account.
I think the argument people are trying to make is that it *wouldn't*be some random hacker, but someone TSG personally knows. Its very probably that someone that knew TSG's password for any kind of system could have guessed that it was the same on his ebay account.
Also, keyloggers aren't the only way to compromise an account. There are many other, simpler ways to get into peoples various accounts. All it takes is access to a single email account (which, based on most peoples security questions/answers, its easy enough to get into), and from there you can simply filter email and the person who actually owns the account would never know.
If he is indeed innocent, despite the mountain of circumstantial evidence piling up against him, the smartest thing he could do for himself is to not talk to anyone involved and consult a lawyer. The situation might play out significantly different if he was accused of something that didn't involve any potential legal action against him. Silence in that case might be a bit more damning, but when you are suddenly faced with the possibility of being charged, not saying anything is the smartest move you can make.
Each one of the four Excavators gets 4 triggers (one for each ally that entered the battlefield), so you get 4 x 4 = 16 triggers, and each trigger is for four cards. 64 is indeed the correct number of milled cards.
Yeah, that's what I get for not re-reading a card I'm not familiar with. I didn't realize that the Excavator triggered any time another Ally entered the battlefield as well, so that makes much more sense to me now.
My explanation was that revealing four Halimar Excavators with a Genesis Wave would result in 64 cards milled (16 from each, assuming there were zero other Allies on the battlefield).
I'm no rules expert, but I don't think the total milled would be 64, but rather 16 in total.
With all 4 cards hitting the battlefield at the same time, they are each aware of each other. Assuming no other Allies in play, each one creates a separate trigger for the mill, and each of those triggers have an X value of 4 when they are created, making the total amount 16 (4 triggers of 4 cards each).
Someone more knowledgeable than me may want to confirm, but I wanted to make sure that the totals made sense to you before you got confused on how the triggers will work.
Yeah, I was thinking that the multi color was a bit too large for my tastes. I thought with the amount of mana fixing, gold cards would have more use, but I agree it probably ends up too large.
I also just realized I have the Eldrazi under Artifact creatures, which isn't true. I don't think it makes a huge difference in the end on balance, but I should seperate those out.
Hello all, this is my first post here although I've lurked for a while. I'm currently in the processing of finishing my first cube for my friends and I to draft with. I'm just looking for some general advice on my list as far as if I'm completely off on some of the CC's and missing big gaps. I've run the cube list through a deck stats program to try to get a proper balance. Its the first time any of us will have built a cube, so I'm just trying to get an idea if there are things that I'm missing or should be cautious about putting in based on my list. I did include both Sol Ring and Mind Twist, no other power though.
The list is 70 UWBRG, 70 Multi, 75 Artifacts and 80 land.
If I broke the list down with too many tags, please let me know and I'll correct it quickly. I figured a bit more granular was slightly better for sorting purposes. And yes, I know it does end up totaling 576 cards, I ended up with an extra utility land somehow.
Notes
I purposely left out some mechanics in my cube, mainly Morph, Hideaway and suspend. Since a large portion of the players using this cube will have very little to no experience with those mechanics, I tried to strip them all out. I will be introducing them at a later time, but I want them to get a grasp of the how the cube works and have a better understanding of the cards themselves before I start adding extra mechanics. I think Morph will be especially complicated and add a level of complexity that I don't want at this time, as some of the players will know very few of the cards already, and the morph would just end up being confusing to them. I also didn't add and of the "un" cards, and no horsemanship/shadow style effects.
Since this is really the first cube any of us have ever drafted, our main goal is to just have fun. A few people have never had the opportunity to play with a large majority of the cards, so I wanted them to experience some of the more powerful cards available, as well as improve their limited experience and knowledge. Heck, a good portion of these cards I haven't played with myself.
I think there is a few viable strategies within this cube, I just want an opinion from those much more knowledgeable than myself on whether it seems there is a good balance, or possible card changes.
Born of the Gods Mechanics
The actual ruling would need to come from someone much smarter than I, but I don't believe the haste is granted as part of the copy effect.
Just to further that, the creature will be destroyed if you do not respond to the destroy effect. If you respond to the second destroy effect with another regeneration ability on Lotleth Troll, it will live.

Any reason you aren't running the full set of Worldwake Duals?
