Trying to find somewhere good to preorder this. My LGS is being unresponsive.
SCG is "out of stock" at MSRP, there are several BIN for 170 on eBay, CFB has no copies listed. I can always pick up for MSRP at target, but I'd rather not shop there and would love to preorder (esp for a discount).
so when do we think real spoilers for this will start? October 7 maybe? A week after the real theros release, about a month from C2's release, and the first monday of October?
I'm salivating and staring at the $150 in my pocket hoping I can just easily snag all 5 at once for at most their MSRP....
most of these seem wrong. thanks for the contribution and all but...
people are going to open this set by the truckload.
for example, thespian's stage is played in a t2 legacy deck and actually goes into every edh deck and it's .99. even if nykthos sees marginal standard play it will be a $2 card. compare also to township, which saw tons of play as 2-of in standard and modern and is ridiculous in edh, and saw a peak of $3.
to be fair no time frame was stated for a lot of these, so it's conceivable that the dragon and a few other mythics will go up a bit in week one and two before they crash.
Countering wouldn't be hard because the spell you are countering wouldn't resolve until next turn anyway. It does completely negate combat tricks though.
I think you're confused. This means it's impossible to resolve spells except during your upkeep. So counterspells are completely dead cards.
also, I find any line of conversation that includes EDH, a tournament-based meta, and the RC patently ridiculous. Not only does the RC not care about competitive EDH, it isn't relevant to discussions of the RC's abilities because every TO who runs a (air quoes) sanctioned EDH event has to make his/her own decisions about what cards are allowed (although they do tend to just stick with the RC list, I imagine if this kind of thing continues to gain a following, there will be a "competitive banned list" split).
I guess some people on twitter agree that anyone who is in a position to commit "insider trading" in the secondary market by knowing about RC decisions ahead of time should be employed by WotC.
Not sure I agree, but that's mainly cuz I'm bummed by the idea of having to police my casual-format rules suggesters.
I got in a twitter argument about many things with this one guy. I am sharing the basic content of the things he said that I argued against (I left out my stuff cuz it was too big but you can find it pretty easy with the #cmdr #edh tags). I wonder if community thinks as I do that he's nuts, or if I've just drank too much of the cool-aide.
So is this guy crazy or what?
I tend to think unbanning staff was good, inline with their stated policy on the format, and not a problem. As some will be jerks with it, most won't, and it's up to you to help create a play environment you enjoy. But who knows. Maybe I was being a jerk when I called him out and said basically everything he said was preposterous, impossible, unnecessary, or contrary to everything beautiful and good about EDH.
do you just drop them in the mailbox after this?

So has anyone found a sweet deal?

Are they still accepting applications for that? I have a few primordials I could sell if I need new interview clothes.
wishing the forum had a retweet.
and also, it wasn't "worth nothing" been a solid $7 card for over a year (http://www.mtgprice.com/sets/Fifth_Dawn/Staff_of_Domination), which is less than vedalken orrery, basically a casual EDH staple. So foils will spike, but duh. Regular copies won't break $10.
