Geaux posted a message on [[M15]] Genesis Hydra Art Hides something? (Speculation)At the very least Edmund McMillen is an experienced magic player though all he plays now-a-days is cube, so we might have a chance at something cubeable either providing an interesting effect or strong power-level.Posted in: Rumor Mill Archive

Geaux posted a message on [[JOU]] WotC mothership spoilers (April 17)Weaver is a house for Green limited. Chumps like a champ and then you can sac it and get another creature that has reach out of it? Very strong for a common.Posted in: The Rumor Mill

Geaux posted a message on [[JOU]] WotC mothership spoilers (April 13)The demon is strong in mono black aggro, weak everywhere else. If you're playing mono-black aggro the card draw ideally won't be enough for them to stabilize and you have a 5/5 flyer ready to swing into the redzone by turn 4. At worst, he eats removal as a must answer threat. This card can do work in the right context of a deck. People doubted desecration demon and then the meta shifted and people recognized it as a good card. I think the same may happen with this. It may not be instantly successful, but I think it'll find a strong home in at least a niche deck in standard.Posted in: The Rumor Mill

Geaux posted a message on [[Official]] Unreleased and New Card DiscussionWhen something dies it goes to the graveyard, when it goes to the graveyard Athreos's ability triggers, causing the card to return to your hand unless TARGET OPPONENT pays 3 life. I think while not nearly as powerful as in standard or modern, Athreos will be a fun EDH card because of the politics you can play with him. Need to recur your removal on a stick creature to take out a valuable threat? Target a different opponent who will let it return to your hand etc. Lots of opportunity to play politics with him in multiplayer while also playing to the strengths of BW dies trigger decks.Posted in: Commander (EDH)

Geaux posted a message on PAX 2014I think the trailer is suggesting that Elspeth dies and is immortalized for her sacrifice and courage by the people of theros. Also this trailer was much better than the past ones, normally they come off as cheesy to me but this one really did a good job.Posted in: The Rumor Mill

Geaux posted a message on [[JOU]] Interpret the Signs (Wizards Organised Play: Australia and New Zealand Preview)Good for limited, might see some fringe EDH play for CMC matters or blue decks that really want to dig. Overcosted for any other form of construction though.Posted in: The Rumor Mill

Geaux posted a message on [[JOU]] Keranos, God of StormsReally powerful for EDH. Makes me want to build a UR topdeck manipulation deck for *****s and giggles. Could be good in control mirrors if that ever becomes relevant in standard.Posted in: The Rumor Mill

Geaux posted a message on [[JOU]] Iroas, God of Victory (reddit preview)It prevents them from chump blocking just to prevent damage. The abilities aren't anti-synergistic, nor are they "a fancy way of saying unblockable". Boros aggro got a serious push right here towards standard playability.Posted in: The Rumor Mill

Geaux posted a message on [Event Discussion -] GP Beijing and GP PhoenixMono blue tends to do that, especially with thassa on the field scrying away everything you don't want. if you get thassa down early you get to see double the cards and all the scrying really smoothes your draws. Plus on such a small curve, mono blue only needs so many lands before they can just start jamming permanents in your face.Posted in: Standard Archives
