Yeah those three are the females while Ojutai and Silumgar are male. I thought they were all female at first too when they kept talking about broods in FRF.
I feel more and more tempted to preorder this guy and throw him in over Giest for a bit of testing. Am I completely crazy for this or no?
Geist has performed pretty poorly for us in the last year or so. Giving this a test.
I'm okay with three new cards. Don't need massive turnover every set.
Kiora, Courser and Brimaz will fit nicely in my cube. I wouldn't be surprised if word of mouth on here gets me to add Xenagos or Pain Seer in a few weeks.
I don't think it's easy as there are quite a few options at that level. But I certainly believe she's a role-player who caters to a narrow archetype and not much more.
That's legit. I think what we're seeing with recent Planeswalkers in regards to Cube is more case-by-case (Cube-by-Cube?) evaluation as opposed to universal. I remember with Ashiok guys like WhiteWolf were very clear that his play group wouldn't want a card like that. I know that the only UG deck that regularly sees play for us is Opposition and this is the card I want in that deck, especially in a control mirror.
Honestly, I'm bad at reading Planeswalkers in Cube so I don't have anything to start the conversation with except for here she is, the Simic Planeswalker we've wanted. She's a bit of a Swiss Army Knife. A bit of protection for herself, neutralization of a fatty, ramp, card draw, poops out monsters if you can get there. And it's not like this is Boros - an okay PW can easily crack medium-big cubes' Simic lists.
I've gushed plenty already about this card so I will just say that everyone should test this card in their Cube. It came up in a draft again on Friday & won a game by milling. The opponent only had 4 creatures in their control deck and he ended up +2'ing the whole way. This is the only game (out of the 10 or so it's hit the board) where it milled out the opponent. The losing player had several creature kill spells in hand but no way to deal with a 3-drop walker. T-3 walker, +2 to victory. I know this is unusual but it did happen.

Yep, I played against a control deck this weekend where I had Ashiok out. I never got to the point where I wanted to X-out a creature but the threat was there. And against control it meant if I did hit one I could have slammed it next turn. For what little damage I was threatened with Ashiok soaked up at least a few points. I think it definitely floats around the five spot in Dimir. As much as I love Dr. Teeth, this is a better card than Psychatog.
In a set full of flavor this might be my favorite flavor card so far. However, it's a slow card designed for a slow set. Probably gonna be wicked cool uses in Theros block but, sadly, not my Cube.
This is not a card I ever thought we'd get to see. I guess since black doesn't get to deal with enchantments it gets snap planeswalker removal. Cool beans.
I think Vengevine and Master are both much better.
Absolutely. Not even close. The only cards this has the chance to replace in my cube are Genesis and Deadbridge Goliath and I'm not sure this is better than either of those.

We also cut Mystic Snake at Gatecrash so...

Stonewright has been on the bubble at 600 and I'll gladly welcome this cutie in.

I have the exact same potential adds so far at 600 plus the Hammer of Red God and the Dimir Planeswalker.
Have you tested Polukranos at all yet? I'm still on the fence as well.
