Follow-up question, how does a spell with Split Second interact with Maelstrom Nexus? Say my first spell this turn is Krosan Grip, will the Split Second keep the cascaded spell from being cast?

Because Krosan Grip is on the stack, you cannot cast anything else. The cascade trigger would resolve and you will remove cards like normal. You won't be able to cast the spell and all cards will be shuffled to the bottom of your library.

I could be wrong, but since when is their ever printed a card with a activated ability that has a trigger ability in the effect? I see the COST:EFFECT, but also the 'whenever'. Is this a trigger, an activated ability, both or impossible??

No, Aurelia says "attacks for the first time each turn", so only 1 time per turn

It says when [this] attacks for the first time each turn. If you attack, get a second attack phase, and the. Cloud shift you have a brand new angel that hasn't attacked yet this turn. You should get another ( third ) attack. Will obviously need to see FAQ and such to confirm.

If someone in our group did this to someone else in our group, the person who wasn't going to the GP and didn't drop wouldn't be in the group any more. AKA, it is rude. It's within their right to play out any match. That doesn't make it not rude.

If that is the attitude, why go to a GPT at all if you aren't going to the corresponding Grand Prix? Shouldn't I scoop to anyone, in any round, that is going? If its the finals and they want to give me all the packs in exchange for the byes, sure. But assuming they want a standard prize split + byes, what is my incentive?

If I get paired down last round before prize, I usually say something like, 'if I win I would get a prize, but if I lose neither of us get anything. I'd be happy to split the prize with someone if I got one.'

I feel like this is the wrong side of the "fine line". If you say "If I win, I get a prize, but if you win neither of us get anything, would you considering conceding??", thats fine.

Even alluding to something in return is Bribery.

If he does scoop to you and you give him a pack or two after the tournament, I think thats a-ok. But that cannot be part of his incentive to concede.

No, during the regular combat damage step, damage is dealt by creatures with double strike and creatures who did not deal first strike damage.

Since Aristocrat dealt first strike damage, no additional damage would be dealt during regular combat.

WoTC has said it is perfectly A-OK to sell extra guild packs.

    From: http://www.wizards.com/wpn/News/Article.aspx?x=2012_09_19_RTRRetailers

It's okay if you don't use all of your Guild Prerelease Packs at your Return to Ravnica Prerelease. Return to Ravnica Guild Prerelease Packs are only available at the Prerelease; there won't be more manufactured. If you have some left over, consider using them to draw attention/interest in your other Return to Ravnica affiliated events like League or during the release weekend. You can even award them as prizes at future events after the Prerelease. The Guild Prerelease packs are also marked as a sellable product for $24.99, though you cannot sell them until Return to Ravnica's official release one week after the Prerelease.

Once it's shown clearly how Jeff Liu's loop is going to play out, theoretically eventually Liu will be able to kill his opponent, so couldn't they just end the game with a victory for him?

I saw something like that happen in a tournament game that was being streamed and one guy was basically going on for a long time keeping adding mana to his pool, his opponent stopped him, asked where it was going to end up since he couldn't really stop it, and then conceded the game to him and moved on to the next match.

The difference with Four Horsemen is we don't know exactly how the loop ends. If you can declare the number of iterations and the exact game state after the loop, its legal. Four Horsemen requires an unknown number of iterations to get a graveyard configuration that isn't known exactly, but includes a number of key cards, without hitting Emrakul.

No, Sorin's ability does not cause damage, which is the only thing you can redirect to a planeswalker.

To be clear, this also isn't loss of life every time, they could gain life

  • posted a message on Vexing Devil
When the Vexing Devil enters the battlefield his trigger will go on the stack. If you let that trigger resolve, the opponent can choose to take 4 and you cannot respond to this choice.

If you Cloudshift with the trigger on the stack, Vexing Devil will leave, return, and another trigger will go on the stack. It will resolve first, and your opponent can choose to take 4. You will have to sac the devil. The next trigger will resolve and your opponent can choose to not take 4 damage. Since that devil no longer exists you don't get to "keep" it.

They are linked abilities, the Leave on Stack 4 is from the previous object, it won't return anything as nothing was exiled by that object.

Thanks, that makes sense. Infinite mana fun spoiled.
