I'm surprised its doing so well tbh. I have the deck myself, and in 15 round tournaments you tend to lose a match or two just to bad draws and its semi inconstancy. For lower, say 9 round tournaments, I find it tends to be better. Happy both it and ad naus are doing well though!

Everyone complains about reprints, at least they are printing some cards for the kids to play with. The real mtg scene is type 1, no kids, all adults, and everyone has the cards or proxies them and plays the game for FUN (I think that is the point of Magic, I could be wrong). Even some of the newer cards have made a splash in type 1. I now know why everyone says this site is a joke and full of tools. I can not believe that people complain about what cards wizards prints especially if this is meant to be a draft/limited format. I love this game and have been playing since the first box of alpha was sent to my comic book store.

I believe the issue is the large cost of these packs, which in turn should mean more dollar value reprints, since they increased the pack cost. So yes, those people's complaint are entirely valid. If you want to make the argument that the set is for kids, then sure, those "kids" now have to pay an extra 3$ a pack over last years cost for the exact same thing, arguably worse, and kids don't have the same amount of disposable income as adults.

Ari Lax's list in today's premium article.
I haven't watched the videos, can't tell if it's good or not.

    Creatures (25)

    4 Ghor-Clan Rampager
    4 Goblin Guide
    4 Kird Ape
    4 Tarmogoyf
    4 Wild Nacatl
4 Eidolon of the Great Revel
    1 Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
    Lands (21)

    1 Forest
    1 Mountain
    1 Breeding Pool
    2 Copperline Gorge
    2 Sacred Foundry
    4 Scalding Tarn
    2 Stomping Ground
    4 Windswept Heath
    4 Wooded Foothills
    Spells (14)

    3 Become Immense
    3 Boros Charm
    4 Lightning Bolt
    4 Path to Exile
    Sideboard

    2 Chained to the Rocks
    2 Phyrexian Unlife
    2 Stony Silence
    3 Destructive Revelry
    3 Geist of Saint Traft
    1 Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
    2 Molten Rain

His list is actually pretty close to what I posed the page previous. I use mutagenic grwoth of become immense since it can be played when tapped out. Kird and tarm I also used diff creatures, but basically the decks the same premise, though I feel he should also be using atarkas.

Been testing this lately, its actually a ton of fun for a small zoo list. The extra land drop from Atarka's Command coupled with the lynx and a fetchland can deal some significant damage. Playing around with the mana base a bit still, but so far its pretty solid. Timely is hand for fighting souls matchups, if they block with souls you can pump your tokens with command, or just trade off. Sideboard may still need some work as well, possily plus one rending volley. Comments welcome.

What are people running to combat the burn matchup?

I run 4 dragon's claw but usually I concede and go smoke or do something else.

While this sounds hilarious, I basically agree. For the few wins I can squeak out, I'd rather just take an hour nap instead between rounds. The lack of white with bring grixis hurts the matchup.

stirrings really isn't all that great in this deck, it can use more consistency, but not in the form of stirrings, because it only finds cards you needed a few turns ago.

I've loved drawing stirrings. If I don't have an amulet in my starting hand, and had to mull, seeing one or two is great because it will get me one, or another bounceland to accelerate a bit with summer bloom. I'm not a fan of sleights because i tend to use my blue mana on serum or transmuting, so having one green and one blue search is nice on the mana, especially with a simic growth chamber out.

Goyf isn't special at all. It's only special because of its price tag. Note the difference.

And yes, as what damagecase pointed out. They changed it on the whim, after keyboarddojowarriors like us found holes within that statement.

Basically, "mythicness" is when Wizards feels like it.

Thats why I like CFB's Hit or Myth. They actual discuss if a card feels mythic, instead of just it being a great card or not.

G4 2-0 vs UWR Twin - first game was a long one, maybe around 30 mins. turn 3 path on titan which I pact of negation, in response he paths again. I land another titan two turns after which he snap paths. I land another titan the turn after which eats another path. Manage to win on my last and only titan. G2 Faster titan get him down to 4, he has 3 open mana, so i pact for another titan and give it hast so he can't tap down both or path both for the win.

This is the kind of match that really makes me think dragonlord dromoka is amazing, letting us attack with titan as soon as he comes out, without fear of path. I will be testing it out 1 in MB along with 4 Titans, when Dragons is released.

On another note, I don't think I've seen this yet but I am willing to try 1 batterskull mainboard as sometimes I'm just dudrling about with plant tokens. Would be good to do something awesome with them! XD

Only issue with dragon is you'd want to drop it first then, so it'd just be path'd on the opponents turn, leaving your titan to still be path'd the turn after. With dropping a titan first at least you still get the two land triggers, to help ramp into further titan or get the tolaria west package. Also you'd need a selesnya sanctuary to cast the dragon. Could work, but I feel like I'd be just a so so card. I still like sigarda though.

hey guys, went 3-1 last night at my LGS modern night. There never is a top 8, just pack payout.

G1 2-0 VS UR Twin. G1 was pretty straight forward, lost a titan to electorlyze and flame slash, but got another. g2 was faster after a slaughterpact on a deceiver after my titan was tapped down.

    G2 2-0 vs goryos Griselbrand

G3 0-2 vs infect - just couldnt get a titan down fast enough both games. Think he won on t3/4 both times.

I am considering replacing a city of brass with another basic forest, just to help with paths/blood moon. It would allow me to still cast titans and pay for summoners pacts. Needs testing.

I know Wistful Selkie is played for the devotion, is the draw a card a big deal on it? Has predator ooze been tested instead, or as a split? Could help the boardwipe issue

So obviously scratch every th ing I said. Wizards went ahead and printed the answer Modern needed to Splinter Twin. Glad to see Wizards recognized it as a problem in the format.

Uh yeah, a card that is arguably worse than combust and is so dang narrow that its useless versus almost every deck

huh? Have you seen how excited most people are over the card? Most can't wait to replace combust, since the only thing combust hits that rending volley doesn't is siege rhino, and most people don't being in combust to just hit a siege rhino. Volley still hits all of twins creatures, resto angel, etc. The one mana over two is huge. Volley is the real deal.
