How about building decks that can beat it instead of complaining? Mono Black had no issues beating it in the past and its slow enough to get shut out by burn. Aggro decks also have a fair chance to beat it. I'm not even sure how you can be complaining about these things if you're mentioning the word "competitive", if you don't like it go play somewhere more casual.
Thanks for your pretentious feedback! I clearly acknowledged your criticism before hand, and you were still condescending. Did I not state that it's a great deck? Like I said before, I don't have any problem with being "competitive", I just don't like that only black and green are effective against it. I clearly addressed that in my post. I built a deck that seems to be good against everything except this and it's annoying. That was my point. I don't mind losing, but losing an hour after you start with out any really challenge to your opponent is boring.
"Black and green" are not the only colors effective against control. Any aggro deck puts pressure on it and has the opportunity to shut it down, (red, white, green, even blue aggro), RW burn can kill the player with few creatures. Not to mention Detention Sphere is not the best card in the world with all of the enchantment hate in standard. WGx hexproof decks have anti-control creatures like Voice of Resurgence and hexproof forces control to draw 1 of 4 verdicts in their decks. Even just mentioning "black and green" is kind of dumb since you can splash black into any deck for thoughtseize and duress which just poop all over control decks.
If you feel like playing UW is unproductive and taking too long then you're free to concede, and they've probably won at that point anyway. If it's unreasonable call a judge for slow play. I don't see the point of your rant.
It's a forum. People post their opinions and discuss things for fun or learning opportunities. There's a lot mcre removal than just the ones you listed. I run Boros Heroic, and it's so good against everything except for this. And the reason I don't concede is because there is still a possibility that I win, it just sucks that I have to wait 20 turns to find out. And I never said I would call a judge for that.

Okay, so this is basically just my rant. Before you read on, consider that although I do find it annoying, I am A. Playfully babbling on about something that I also give credit for, and B. Trying to see how others feel about this.
I get really annoyed with azorius control in standard. Why? It's a really good deck, don't get me wrong. Brilliant and effective. My problem with it is how the games seem to last over an hour, and the entire game is, play a land pass turn, then on my turn i play something, "Nope, i counter that", they take their turn, play a land and pass turn, then counter my next spell. Rinse and repeat. If I do get to play anything, it is destroyed immediately by supreme verdict or exiled by detention sphere. If I do get lucky enough to get them low on cards and life "at the end of your turn, spinx for 7", they gain seven life and draw 7 cards, and I only have, yep you guessed it, one card in hand. Supreme verdict, pass turn. i play one spell, counter, i play another, next turn detention sphere. it's so annoying. I don't mind control, but this is beyond obnoxious! Couldn't they make control a bit more interactive for more competitive games? instead of endless counters and draws? at least give other color's decent options to battle against it other than black and green. Sorry again guys for my annoying rant. I just wanted to see what you guys have to say about this deck?
If you had more creatures, you wouldn't be stuck with dead targeting spells. You want around 24. Add Phalanx Leader, and add Bestow creatures because they work both as beasts and as auras. Keep spells that help your creatures live and get past blockers, and about 6 removal spells. Anything more is for the sideboard.
I ran phalanx leader and he was terrible. the thing is, red and black have so much removal against aggro that it's not worth it, even if you have a god's willing or boros charm.
Well I tried having a lot of creatures, and it didn't work out. Heroic is amazing, but it doesn't help when you have 3 favored hoplites and 2 phalanx leaders with nothing to trigger heroic. They are also easily removed by a lot of spells not only individually, but collectively as well. It really didn't work out because they suck by themselves. After I switched it around, it got a lot better. I used to run phalanx leader, but players kill it immediately if I drop it turn 2.
So a few months ago i posted a version of this deck. I have made huge changes to it because it's so easy to disrupt heroic. I find it annoying when i play against black and i start off with an iffy but playable hand, then they turn one thought seize me and remove the one card i can build off of, then they thought seize me and then i'm at the mercy of my top deck (which, at FNM, always seems to be lands! Every freaking game i top deck land after land after land when all i need is one decent card!) It's funny because I only run 21. Anyways, I'm done with my rant. I have trouble when I need to draw and I obviously can't (which is annoying!) because boros has no draw. There's a lot of decent removal spells, so I can't complain about that. I guess im just asking for help against the meta and for help on building a good sideboard. Thanks for your help. I am open to any suggestions.
I have Mizzium Mortars especially for Blood Baron of Vizkopa, it's so annoying! I don't know why Fiendslayer Paladin isn't just pro red and black lol. It seems like there is so much white hate in standard right now and not enough to fight against it.
Elvish mystics, lightning strike, doom blade, young pyromancer, magma jet, gray merchant, etc. anything used in top tier standard, and modern decks usually.
I think the soul sisters package plus Chalice of life is a good plan. as well as Rest for the Weary. Well of lost dreams is great idea. I saw it do quite a number with a Wellwisher before. Brutal card.
I'm not liking guardian's pledge here. Maybe something like Awe Strike?
i was thinking about that too. A while back I was looking at a similar car to Guardian's pledge for only one, but I can't find it anywhere.
Hey guys. I'm not sure if I posted this in the correct place, so I apologize to the moderators in advance if I did. Anyway, I am going to FNM this friday and plan on trading in a lot of my cards that I won't be building decks around. I have probably over 1,000 standard commons and uncommons and I want to see if any of them are worth anything (by that, I mean like 50 cents or even a dollar). So, my question to everyone on this forum, which commons and uncommons cards are probably the most valuable in standard right now? After reviewing everyone's replies, I will gather up each copies of the ones that I am not using and sell them on Friday! Thanks everyone!
I also run a similar RW deck, but instead of the Akroan Crusader I am running the Akroan Hoplite. I also have more burn in my deck with Shock and Boros Charms (which you do as well).
I honestly prefer the Akroan Hoplites bonus for attacking with other creatures over generating 1/1 tokens, but I see the versatility it would provide. Over all I like what you have here we'll see how mine fairs on friday.
I used to use Akroan Hoplite, and he was good sometimes, but it was hard to get him through sometimes if the game lasted long enough for big creatures. Can I see your version of the deck?
