I would choose Bloodflow Connoseiur because it is a free sac outlet that can be fetched with pod or used to fetch a 4 drop with pod. Mortar pod isn't bad, but I feel like it just isn't as good as bloodflow, but it probably has a place in the sideboard.
Corpse Traders won't work because of the simple fact this deck won't have 3 mana open to sac a creature 9/10 times. Bone splinters might work though.
The above two posts are exactly why I was talking about putting it into a pre-existing powerful shell. I think that the u/b zombie shell or the zombie pod shell works the best, but you can't play this deck just focused on the combo. It would have to be something you can use from time to time to break an unwinnable situation. All the cards except possibly driver for the dead are good enough to be in the zombie pod deck anyways, so I thought including this combo would increase the number of outs you had while not taking away from the aggressive shell of the deck.
Also, if we some how added white to the zombie pod deck (yeah this might be a bit of a stretch) we would get access not only to sun titan as a pod target, but lingering souls.
Oh, and another thing. Michael Jacobson was testing a deck that was a zombie pod deck on modo, and it was really awesome. It wasn't quite good enough to be tier 1 I think, but it might be able to incorporate this combo relatively easily.
I think that is an excellent starting point for you if you want to go with a pod version of the deck. The edits I would start out with would probably end up looking like this:
I think this deck may not be able to exist as a pure combo deck within the current standard meta.
1. Aggro Control: This is typically a bad match up because they counter our combo pieces while applying pressure. This role is played by the very popular delver decks in the current meta.
2. Graveyard Hate: A lot of decks already play graveyard hate in their sideboard. Between surgical extraction and Grafdigger's Cage, our combo is already defeated by many sideboards.
Given this I think this shouldn't be played as a pure combo deck. I think it should be incorporated into the zombies deck that is already running blood artist and probably should be running Bloodflow Connoisseur.
That is a really awesome deck idea. I am not sure if I quite agree with the way you structured the deck, but I think the theory behind it is definitely doable. I am going to try to experiment with the deck before suggesting any changes though.
The red planeswalker sort of is a bit underwhelming. I feel like he can only really be used as a sideboard card for rdw if u/b control is popular or in a weird r/w/b brew running. R/W/B would haveaccess to lingering souls, faithless looting, gravecrawler, unburial rites, norn, and a decent mana base, so I guess its possible.
I would think a few JTMS and maybe some counterbalances would go a long way in this deck. I could see you having the counter top combo since you are already running brainstorm and enlightened tutor. It just seems like having a second lock would be good in this deck.
That is an awesome idea. I would suggest running darkblasts and life from the loams in your build also. I think I would end up with something like this:
EDIT The decklist I made when thinking for some reason that dredge put the card on top of the library. Please ignore this. /EDIT
Why would any deck running daze and FoW crush this? I would think that the tempo loss is enough to allow me to play more spells. If they are going to play around my spells fine, I am not looking to win in the longer game that you have to play to if you are trying to avoid spells. The things that STP deals with are just he miscellanous things because not every deck is a stoneforge deck. I might side out the STP for submerge, but I am not going to play submerge main deck and Forked bolt just doesn't deal with Maverick.
what modern decks run first strikers? Also, all of boosts from various instants and sorceries should be able to boost him enough to make the first strike irrelevant.
Seems a bit like you are playing for god hands instead of for just the normal game. I don't think you can get off your combo with boneyard wurm in enough games to make it worth running it since it is not a reusable threat.
Also, since when has Jund been control?
I started trying to make a deck that uses bloodghasts and gravecrawlers in modern after seeing Sam Black's amazing legacy decklist. I eventually ended up with this. I like the deck so far, but I am certain there is room for improvement.
The deck operates on two game plans:
Plan 1:
Fauna shaman + cheap creature + vengevine
Pretty straight foward, it is the most consistent way to win if you can get a fauna shaman to stick.
Plan 2:
Viscera Seer + bloodghast
then
Viscera Seer + bloodghast + fecundity
then
Viscera Seer + bloodghast+ fecundity + Orzhov Scion
At this point your opponent is essentially locked out of the game. Every time you sac a bloodghast you get a token you can then sac with teysa to exile one of their creatures while scrying and drawing a card for every creature you sacrifice.
Plan 2 might sound a bit unrealistic, but it is much easier to assemble then you would think due to the amazing power of scrying off your recurring creatures. This deck is really fun to play and has been testing pretty well so far. Any help is very welcome.

1x watery grave
1x godless shrine
1x hallowed fountain
3x gemstone mine
2x horizon canopy
The reason for the low land count is really because of life from the loam, which is a very powerful enabler.
The use of fetchlands make bloodghast much better.
I wanted to have a 1 2 and 3 drop available to dredge up, so thats what determined my dredge spells.
I like remand better than mana leak because it allows you to draw a card (and by doing so resetting the top of your library.)
Have you thought about running drowned rusalka, remand, or darkblast?
Anyways, thats just my opinion. I really like your idea.
Also, since when has Jund been control?
