I thought the same thing about Last Airbvender, even if they messed it up, at least they'd have some cool bending scenes

nope, 10 dudes to float a rock

here is hoping this isn't a movie where chandra and jace and gideon pool their magics together to summon a giant growthed grizzly bear

Last Airbender- My favorite story directed by my most hated director.

tbh though, I kind of hope they shy away from PWers summoning things to fight. I think it'd work waaaay better if they just gave characters spells or abilities and they fought themselves.

I was really hoping this guy's ability would be something specifically minotaur tribal but am in no way disappointed with this card. I don't care if the card never sees a t8 or becomes a tournament staple either. He's pretty sweet on every other level as far as a magic card is concerned. Seems like a sick commander too.

Wizards has really reached the point of just printing money. They get to justify 75 pieces of cardboard for a msrp of 75$ that would cost maybe 20$ for the same amount in normal packs. I'm not complaining, I'm sure it will have the value to the person buying it but holy crap. Business is good for them right now.

Kamigawa • Current interest developed too recently to be incorporated into the current 7 year plan without serious juggling. Kamigawa 2.0 has to be a guarantee home-run in design, to even see the light of day.

I don't know if it's just me but I highly doubt it would take much to fit something into the next "7 year plan". when MaRo laid out the last one in full detail and retrospect the plan simply seemed to be let's make magic for 7 more years. Which they want to do anyway. There was absolutely no reason to me why they even call it that. There's no beginning or end to it design or story wise. It wasn't even 7 years long after the "plan" was finished.

I don't think they need to print a hoser for thoughtseize or that they will. It's a fine card. But if they would I would speculate some kind of card that has to be playable regardless but with some kind of ability like "if a spell or ability an opponent controls causes you to reveal this card they lose 3 life"

I'd like to see a block that takes place on a different plane every set. Use some reason like the eldrazi ravaging the multiverse. They've done enough cross block synergy on account of std that with some effort they could do 3 different sets in 3 different worlds and make it feel cohesive. It'd also be a safer way to revisit places that might be seen as questionable. Make the big set something safely popular and then 2 smaller sets. Something like Ravnica/Kamigawa/Shadowmoore. With these 3 examples you'd have a lot of spirits and tribal in general. Also some multicolor. Just examples but you get my point. May e the next big nostalgia block can come this way?

It wouldn't do anything about older cards but I had an idea to make large amounts of reprints going forward less of a problem. They could use the artwork to their advantage. Basically make every card from here on out full art sweet looking cards. Every card you open in a pack is pimped out basically. Then later on when they want to do a large number of reprints like throw a bunch of fetch lands in duel decks or some other product they would then have the full rules box and less visually appealing versions of cards. That way all the people who already have the cards would maintain value because everyone knows the more desired versions of cards demand a higher premium but anyone who needs them can get the newer, less appealing and cheaper version of the card.

Can someone explain how wizards could even get in trouble legally by getting rid of the RL? I don't see it. I'd be willing to bet the original printings would maintain or increase value anyway.

Kamigawa was unpopular because of gameplay, not the plane itself. I would also bet a revisit done right this time would be very well received.

  • posted a message on [[BaseSpec]] Ashiok
I always assumed Ashiok looked like one of the returned but somehow became a walker. I agree though that they seem to be building a lot of general villains up but then again I think that because I believe they have absolutely no idea where the story is going.

Even if they did something like this irl there is a chance that it would not devalue the original printings. People who play Magic value the bling factor of the cards they use. Reprints do not mean card prices automatically go down and we've seen plenty of examples of this recently. Tarmogoyfs actually shot up when MMA was printed. A foil thoughtseize from Theros is not even worth a regular original printing. from Lorwyn. In this game there is a premium for the more desired version of a card. Nobody actually knows what would happen (just like in real life financial markets) but I want to throw the idea out there that reprints might have the possibility of not effecting prices of originals or might actually make them worth a little more.

  • posted a message on Psychic Intrusion interaction
So I'm playing on Magic Online and I Psychic Intrusion my opponent's Sea God's Revenge. When I try to cast the revenge I am only allowed to target my own creatures and not my opponents. So I end up doing it eventually anyway just to get the scry effect but the spell doesn't resolve because my own guy is now not a legal target for the revenge after I cast it. I understand the last part but was it correct that I couldn't target my opponent's guys but my own in the first place?

Also I'm new so forgive me if I did card tags wrong. It's my first try.

  • posted a message on [???] Venser has been Phyrexianized
I think it'd be sweet if Venser was made to be the villain and leader of the Phyrexians. They need a new Father of Machines or whatever they call it anyway. He has the knowledge on how to travel the multiverse without planeswalking which is something they need. He doesn't need to be a walker himself anymore, Yawgmoth wasn't. And it's fantasy so who cares if he's dead. We're talking about Phyrexia here. They could do anything with a dead body. The whole idea intrigues me because Venser was the very first neo-walker. I initially thought it was weird that they killed him like this considering that fact. I'm all for making him the new leader of Phyrexia and the new main antagonist of magic in general.

  • posted a message on Just finished the Ravnica novels
I read those novels when they were new. One of the only things I remember specifically was Niv losing to the nephilim and having a very weird exit. They were the last set of MTG novels that I enjoyed though.

Perhaps off topic, but one of the worst things they did story wise was the whole revamp in Time Spiral with all the new walkers. Not so much that they did it, because it was a good idea in general, just that they did it without having any idea where they were going. It was a good chance to just have a reset button and start fresh but now so many years later it seems like they did it on a whim.

We have two more sets coming with ten two-color gods (and probably other multicolored cards), yet this will be drafted last once all three are out. Seems like the first set in a block (which will be the last set drafted in draft) would be a good place for mana fixing.

I could have sworn in one of the original announcements they said that this block would be drafted normally again. Anyone else see that or am I imagining things?
