The BenQ monitors that Levelup uses for WNF and The Runback have apparently been getting rave reviews...here's a link to the coupon code as well as the monitor model. not sure if it also doubles as a TV.

I have the Asus that they've been using at EVO, and have found it to be quite powerful as well.

I'm not why you consider it the best deck in the format. When was its last GP win, just out of curiousity?

GP wins do not make for the best deck, so bad form there. If anything, consider the top 8s the deck puts up, which are nothing to scoff at. Jund is always there.

Jund has the most consistent gameplan of any deck in modern right now. It's got a removal plan, a threat plan, a disruption plan-the deck is a very well-oiled machine. I don't think it's farfetched to consider Jund the best Modern deck. I know if I had serious cash to drop on a modo deck for modern, I would snap buy Jund and never look back.

1 mana 2 power guy, I will take it and be VERY happy.

There is nothing wrong with that card. Perfectly balanced with a good ability in the event of a mana flood. Sign me up for 4 so I can light people on fire.

I could see Venser holding his price due to the alt art but Jace, not so much.

FTV foils are generally regarded as terrible, even among people who ordinarily enjoy foils - like myself. And the original printing of a card is generally what's worth the most, unless later printings have alt art and/or is otherwise very exclusive.

While I would be inclined to agree with you, this is a foil Jace, TMS we're talking about. Whether or not FTV foils are regarded as terrible makes no difference. The edh players will salivate over him. 250, no less, one year from now.

I'm quite confidant that, this time next year, the Jace out of this set will be a 250 dollar card, minimum. I suspect Venser will also be worth a fair amount.

The Swords and Hymn are pretty huge as well.

Same, though Venser, Hymn, and swords will also add plenty of value. I expect to triple my money in about a year or so.

Yeah I've never not have the cards in multiples in my drafts so far. All your points are what I feel about the cards, just that I need a bigger sample size.

    Nightwing Shade, Mind Rot

Hello all, just wanted to get your opinions on the above cards in M14 limited. I have run both to moderate success in this format, but I am a bit iffy on their playabilities. Shade is expensive to pump and play, but he flies. Mind Rot is always a card that I have difficulties judging format to format. Considering this format doesn't seem too fast, I can see Mind Rot being very good here.

Calling shenanigans on your hydra line, if you played vs. any player with any removal spell you were straight dead, he is certainly not even remotely close to Pack Rat in terms of being able to do that.

I have won 3 drafts and a pre-release playing mono black splash a second color for 2-3 cards. This draft format lends itself extremely well to mono-colored decks-lots of 2-symbol costed cards. Black has some of the best commons (Deathgaze Cockatrice, Liturgy of Blood, Quag Slickness, Mark of the Vampire, heck, Minotaur Adomination punches through most bombs), sick uncommons (Doom Blade, Sengir Vampire) and bomb rares (Nightmare can be sick in mono colored, Lilliana's Reaver, to name a few). Small sample size on my part, but to say it's bad is HORRIBLY ignorant. Tempo plays arent that amazing in this format, and 2 for 1s are hard to come by. Being the removal deck puts you so far over so many decks, and Litrugy of Blood is a complete blowout, allowing you to swing a game 180 degrees in your favor-I won games where I was completely backfooted, drew it, killed a guy, played a guy, and just stomped out to victory thanks to the tempo play.

If any color gets my , it's probably White. I feel like it's such a top-heavy color (heavily reliant on uncommons and rares), that it is relegated to the support color role. Blue gets eaten up by Giant Spider, but it has stuff that can let it run mono color or use white as its support. Red could be the same as White, though I haven't played with it enough yet. Black and Green, though, can easily be mono-colored and you'll 3-0 a draft with ease.

He is the trump in every aggro mirror ever. I just played B/R zombies on modo (normally an easy matchup for mono-red anyway), and the guy could not do anything. Triple Gravecrawler? That's nice, block two, shoot the third, you have no more board, gg sir.

  • posted a message on [Variant] which Red/x deck do you think will be the strongest variant?
I'm stickin' to Mono Red, and just replacing Pyreheart Wolf with Boros Reckoner

I fully understand the power of Boros Charm, but a) do not desire to introduce a level of variance into my deck that is only there for 2-4 maindeck copies of a card and b)introduce a card into my deck that could actually be clunky.

It's entirely feasible that there will be games where me not tapping out to swing in full will be much worse than leaving up mana to fight a Verdict. This is not a situation I have any interest being in. Plus, making my mana worse to fight one, maybe two cards? Pass-not worth it.

I really don't care how smart of a business mind you are, LandBoySteve, but in your hypothetical scenario of what will happen if the RL isn't done away with, to think or assume that WOTC would actually go out of business because of it is...absurd.

I missed the part where the RL affects their cash cow...that thing called Standard.

I do love that this is a hybrid-costed card. So far, from what I've seen, I think Mono Red will still be better than boros aggro. There have been very few aggro-themed cards that would push me into going for a secondary color (Boros Charm and Frontline Medic, mostly), and this card being hybrid-costed can let me stay in a single color.

Pyreheart Wolf vs. this...I'd probably just play this guy. There are too many instances where the Wolf is straightup bad.

I'm more thrilled that they got the flavor down pat and that we could easily seem some constructed-worthy boons if this is what the keyword is.
