My favorite card has to be Leviathan.
It was one of the original big blue fatties and the artwork by Mark Tedin was awesome. Playing Kitchen Table magic, I always got oohs and aahs from my opponent when I landed one of these or cheated one into play.
Fun times!
I've seen walmarts in remote areas sell entire booster boxes of ravnica and theros when they released in the card sections. They've got the special security devices on them like on electronics and have another sticker on the overwrap that says do not open for individual sale. Sells for exactly retail at 143.64 and that doesn't even include tax...
Personally I'm gonna try to pick one up for the convenience factor of grabbing all the decks at once and not having to buy them individually on eBay or something. I think the extra 20.00 is well worth all the bells and whistles and not having to go to separate sources to get them all.
I received my shipping confirmation and actually got a phone call from FedEx that someone needed to be present to sign or that I can schedule for my package to be dropped off at a FedEx pick up center. I had standard shipping.
Did anyone who also got one notice any heavy traffic on the site or was it pretty smooth?
Side note: I was using an iPhone to do this. I had to pull over as fast as I safely could.
A few years back they had some sealed boosters in similar packaging labeled as vintage booster packs. The ones I saw each had only one pack and was at a 7.99 price point. It had Betrayers of Kamigawa packs.
^This.
I've also picked up a few which contained the Divine vs Demonic decks, mimeoplasm and zedruu commander decks. Usually the cases that they come in are clear and you can see what is in there. I ran into one that was packed with 5 land packs. That would have been a horrible purchase. A lot of these deck packs are thrown together from damaged product that the major retailers give back to the vendors like Excell with Target. I spoke to one of the vendors when they were stocking one day and they were pretty upfront with all the questions I had.
They are available for order now and will start shipping out May 1st
I thought I wanted one at first but now that I've had time to think about it, it's not for me.
Toys R Us tends to mark up their prices on many other things they sell including MTG stuff. Their regular boosters cost 4.99 and the regular precon decks run close to 18.99. If they have the Deck Builders Toolkit, they run that close to 27.99.
They even tried selling the Kaijudo Under 10.00 bundle for 15.99 until I complained to their manager that it says on the box that it's under 10.00.
They mark up things like LEGO as well. One of their managers told me they do this because they get product (such as LEGO) from their distributors early and are allowed to sell it earlier than it normally comes out. Doesn't seem right but they do it.
It popped up at 5:21PM PST on my AlertBox but the product still technically states out of stock. I'm guessing it didn't get re-listed since they're closed, but just noticed this change.
I'm sure I'll eventually get to pick up pieces of this. Maybe some of us will get lucky and snag a FTV 20 at msrp and swap it for the promo walker set.
Crazy. As much as I wanted these, at least seeing the sold out sign puts closure on this for me and I can go back to enjoying Magic normally.
And just like those days, I'm gonna close my eyes for a second and it will be gone.
The things we do for these pieces of cardboard
My buddy waited in line for these just to fall 5 people short. Now it's come to this!
