I'm bumping this post to make people aware that the Dragon Life Counter is back on the market. Below is a link. Graphics have been updated slightly and some sound has been added. Enjoy!
Got back from a pre-release this weekend. Last night, Boros won. Today, my friend won went 4-0 with Orzhov...had about 12-14 extort cards in his sealed 'box'. Crazy.
Also, since you seem to be new to Commander/possibly Magic, here's examples of each of 'characteristic defining abilities' and 'color indicator' that make a difference; Any of these kobolds have red color identity, and the flipped sides of Garruk Relentless and Elbrus, the Binding Blade, both of which add black to the color identity (so they're green-black and black color identity respectively.)
Thank you all for your answers. I've actually played Magic since Antiquities (I have quite a collection)...then stopped playing for a long while.
Grath, thanks for the link. Great info, I appreciate it.
Last weekend we had a Commander session where a friend played Sword of Body and Mind. Since this was truly our first Commander game, there were still some questions regarding what cards are allowable in decks.
Another friend suggested that this card was unable to be played in the mono-white deck because when an attack is made, a 2/2 GREEN wolf token creature is created. His argument was that his mono-white commander was unable to 'control' this wolf creature, therefore the Sword of Body and Mind shouldn't be allowed in the deck at all.
I thought it was simply the color of mana in the cost and possibly the body of the text that mattered. Can someone clear this up for me and my friends?
(Simply having the color-words (blue, green red, etc.) doesn't matter, right? It's the mana symbol?)
39 here...began playing when Revised was released. Have a nice collection from Alpha on up. It's kinda cool to be able to show the youngsters what magic looked like when it first began. Relating with them...not hard at all. But, I feel for those that don't even have the ability to play face-to-face because of where they live. Try Magic Online...it really isn't that bad.
Also, I believe most Android-powered phones support Flash...not about the newer ones because Flash isn't included on them? So, if you want to do this on the go, you can. Sorry iPhone owners.
I was actually in the middle of making an app to do just what you were looking for when I read the C&D to the creator of that iPhone app. Of course, that C&D was simply for the deckbuilder part. He was able to continue on with the rest of the app. I figured I'd be wasting my time if they were to send one to me as I release it.
Support Shalafi! His app really is great and worth the money. Support your fellow android developer!! (see sig. *wink* *wink*)
This game is meant to be fun. If you want to play competitively with the big boys, then naturally, you're going to have to spend some money to acquire the cards necessary to win.
I split a box with a friend - then I came home a couple of nights ago and found a box my wife bought for me. Ha!
I think I have 7-8 copies of every common card in DKA, still no Sorin. But, for me, opening packs is simply fun - ever since the Antiquities set I've enjoyed buying a box and discovering what is inside. Now with visual spoilers all over the web it makes the discovery and surprise less exciting. From this point forward, I'll have to buy individual cards as I can't justify the $100-120 per box.
So, does my opponent have the option to only have one pile? Or, am I reading that wrong? If so, wouldn't that player simply put them all into one pile and choose the empty pile to sacrifice?
Wonderful site here. I originally began playing MTG right after the Third Edition was released. I went through a period of buying Magic cards and building a nice collection only to sell it 10 years later. I entered many tournaments while living in Southern California at the Hilton hotel at LAX. Made to the final 16 (or was it 32) in one tournament. Had tons of fun...wish I never sold my cards. Now, 20 years later I'm back in the game!
About a year ago I ordered a 1000-card lot on eBay to start my collection back up. Some of the cards I used to have included Time Walk and Timetwister. I never had the money to invest in the rest of the Prime 9 though. As of today, I'm probably over 4000+ cards and climbing.
Within the last few months, I've been able to introduce this game to both of my sons. Now, whenever it's game night, my 6-year old gets so excited because he gets to play with the adults too.
Glad to be here - look forward to some engaging conversations!

Ok. Now I feel stupid. And, the card makes total sense now. Thanks for your help.
