With m14 the biggest headache to bant hexproof will be this card. along with various sac effects running around, a 1 mana instant speed token creator that occasionally also hoses graveyard strategies seem to be a good sideboard choice. thoughts?
also with celestial flare in m14, how many people will now send in their mana dorks alongside their suited up stalker/Geist to play around it?
This deck concept appears to be pretty fun to play, but it really lacks any sort of creature removal or protection spells other than the "hexproof" mechanic. There doesn't seem to be a way to really deal with larger creatures. To me, the goal will appear to beat the top tournament decks. So we'll need speed for "flash", resilience for Jund, and graveyard disposal for Reanimator.
+2 angel of thune - Must be dealt with, or your creatures can get out of control!
+1 unflinching courage - Love this Behemoth Sledge in enchantment form.
+1 witchstalker
+4 scavenging ooze - Even if not playing against reanimator, it keeps your opponent's graveyard empty.
+3 brave the elements - I'm just a huge fan of this card. Can be used offensive or defensive. Protect your creatures, or cast it pre-combat to possibly prevent them from blocking.
And of course, got to include a couple gavony township until it rotates! I'd also play with the concept of either replacing Ajani with Garruk, or have a 2:1/1:2 in the deck. I'm just a big fan of Garruk, so i'm a little bias
in my opinion your version slows down the deck way too much. bant hexproof looks to kill on turn 4-5, which makes the archangel irrelevant. it only runs 23 lands usually, plus because it needs all 3 colors as early as turn 2, gavony cannot be played to support the already shaky mana base. we also don't need the scavenging ooze because junk reanimator is one of our best match ups(they just can't race against bant hexproof and they don't have ways to deal
with the hexproof creatures)
if you're going GW selesnya aggro you might as well be running Shuuhei Nakamura's list. It's much more aggressive than trying to go GW hexproof, which does not offer the explosive t2 Geist t3 pants draws.
to the complainers: go through the set, look at the amount of creatures that actually have power 5 or greater, think on the implication of a 4 cmc mind control at uncommon, reevaluate what you just wrote
you rank witchstalker way too low for the amount of impact it will make in bant hexproof decks. that is a tier 1 deck and it just got better with m14, not sure where the "janky aura deck" came from. despite everyone's distaste for bant hexproof (even the pilots of the deck don't like playing it) I think after m14 everyone should dedicate some sideboard slots against the archetype.
For those of you who sideboard Advent of the Worm, what do you side it in against? What do you side out for it?
generally I side in advent against UWR for after they verdict or sneaking it in after a restoration angel. while susceptible to azorius charm I find the advent + rootborn defense plan (2 and 2) makes the post board game a lot different and most people won't anticipate both of the cards together. I run my list with fencing ace which I side out after almost all game 1 (makes you wonder if I should run him main board at all). if you don't have ace in the main I suggest silverblade as the next card for the axe.
I was responding to a person who made the same argument you did for why Seer is good. We could continue to go in circles, or you could both admit that since this is all random there is a chance you will end up helping your opponent more than you help yourself.
If you are relying on him for direct damage, you are playing the wrong kind of game. As noted above, you are just as likely to help your opponent as hurt them with this card.
quote me or sig me or whatever you want, but mark my words, this will be one of the tournament defining cards in the coming months.
Ok, how about if they flip two lands and you flip a 4 drop and a 2 drop? Is that better for you?
if they flipped 2 lands, how are they winning? cause man lands are still in standard? cause lands deal dmg? seriously, why can't you think for yourself for once?
let me spell it out for you: you play this with delver, you're playing aggro tempo, you don't give a rats ass if they flip a land cause that means 1 less answer they have for you, all the while you're beating their face in. and that 2 drop you flipped? Is it an azorius charm(tempo/cantrip)? dimir charm(time walk/counter/removal)? snap?
So you're saying Bob is bad because it gives cards in favor of life? What if you hit a 5 drop and a 2 drop and they hit two lands? Who comes out ahead then? You're argument makes no sense.
sorry, please point me to a deck that plays bob, is competitive, and have cards with cmc 5 and greater as their main threats. go on, I'll wait.
please don't make me spoon feed you everything, this card screams "build around me!" obviously you build a deck with a low curve.
Dark Confidant only gave YOU cards. This gives the ability parity. To compensate they give you a better body for the mana cost. In the defense of this card, it does do it on your turn, which is good.
The better question you should ask yourself is... If Bloodgift Demon only gives YOU cards and has a comparable body and rarely sees play, what does this do better than that? And is being one mana cheaper worth the other disadvantages?
lol... this is NOTHING like bloodgift demon. I'm sorry but, the power level is just incomparable.
giving everyone a card might sound bad, but what you fail to realize is that it is only bad if everyone can use all the cards drawn, if you are on turn 5 and have 2 5 drops in your hand, where as I have 2 spells costing 2 and 3, all I gave you is 5 dmg to the face.
esper delver will be a thing, people just don't know it yet. anyone hating on this card needs to learn to evaluate cards better, this with azorius charm, dimir charm, thought scour and snapcaster = limitless options
wait what? have you read the cards carefully? consuming aberration mills only opponents, and treasury thrull's ability triggers when it attacks, not when it deals combat damage to a player.
To be honest I was assessing the value of this card based on standard. In standard, a 1/1 DoubleStriker that won't see play until turn 4 doesn't seem all that good to me. It actually could prove quite useful in limited however.
well, to be honest, out of the 5 keyrunes from RTR only rakdos keyrune has seen some fringe play so, there's nothing to be disappointed about if non of the gatecrash keyrunes will be standard playable. I think they're mostly meant for limited anyways.

advice: stop evaluating cards in a vacuum. kthx
