I would value Tormented Hero more than Ruthless Ripper tbh. You are essentially giving up the advantage of playing up to 12 2 power one drops (a feat may i remind you that does not come around often and is primarily responsible for potentially catapulting MBA to tier 1 status) to play Typhoid Rats, and that is not exactly a card I would be excited about. Pushing through 2 damage by being cute and unmorphing ripper, tempo loss aside from playing a 3cmc 2/2 in the first place is just straight up worse to playing than playing the actual 2 power creature.
I have the option of either and am still testing so will let you know how things go after the tournament.
Sideboard is still being worked on, tried out fetches, but found the lifeloss to be too much versus card gain and Chapin's article from last week supports that. Will report back after to let you know how it goes.
I get that. Nothing would make me happier than to see an opponent at 2 life with one in hand. I just feel I would rather draw a creature than this card. I think Sign in Blood is more suited for MBD than MBA.
Sorcery speed draw (Sign in Blood) does not really appeal to me, but let us know what you find. I have another SCG IQ this weekend and am determined to make this work.
My apologies to the thread, I went 2-2 at FNM, losing to an event deck in the process. I switched to Jund Monsters for the SCG IQ. Best move I ever made though, as I won and got the blue envelope...
Taking this deck to an SCG IQ this weekend. Will report back with results.
Best of luck! Represent.
Thanks for the vote of confidence... I was thinking about Jason Ellis and what he said in his video about Pain Seer being a card he would ideally like to replace. I have been finding it does not last long on the field as people just don't want me to draw cards. I was then thinking of playing Brain Maggot and Spiteful Returned as the 2 drops in the deck. Now it is possible that Pain Seer is the best decoy in the world, flushing out removal before the 3 drops come down... Thoughts?
this is what i have, would love to get Boon of erabos in there.
pulling bile for 2 scarhide when i get 2 more scarhide.
no mater how hard i try im just not feeling tormented hero but i may go with it 2/1 for one is good, and this feels like i need another 1 drop
went with nightveil over herald for a lil disruption and to make them chose between a 5/5 flyer that draws them cards or a 3/3 flyer that takes their cards.
temples are there mostly for scry but who knows may snag something with the nightveil
any imput that is constructive is appreciated
Your decklist wasn't displaying, so I fixed it. The decktags can be tricky, you need to put the number before the name or it won't display anything. -rujasu
I'll comment more in-depth later, but the firs thing that jumps out at me is your curve. 18 three drops, 11 two drops, 10 one drops is definitely not ideal for this deck. Check out lovemeacombo's list from a page back for a solid curve example:
I cannot take credit for that list...lol, Tomaharu Saito posted it on Twitter among a bunch of other decks. I just copied it and took it to a 3-1. Last Friday, I put Spiteful Returned in place of Brain Maggot and I finished 2nd again with another 3-1. Lost to Mono Black Devotion AGAIN.
