So I'm trying to use the FreeCardBot. I fill my trade list with what cards I want but when I type 'done' (with or without the apostrophes) nothing happens. I can't complete the trade at all.
Is this an issue other people are having or is it just me? Either way what can be done to fix this?
Has anyone tried a more control based build that runs a playset of kaervek's torches? Despite the glitch I've come to rely on that card a lot with all the creature removal I've encountered from MBC decks running around. Obviously still run a few creatures but build the deck more around getting to a big kaervek's torch instead of a creature beat down?
If you're going to run a fierce empath shell you don't need full playsets of each of your finishers. Just use empath to tutor them up and run a larger variety of options to use as finishers. Fangren Marauder pairs great with the egg shell. Those are just my initial thoughts.
I'll have to post the list I'm running a bit later but I played against a nearly identical mirror match. The only differences I found were that he ran more dig spells and instead of ulamog's crusher for a wincon he ran steamcore weird. His deck was pretty interesting and better tuned for a mirror match but he couldn't handle the crusher. After sideboard he boarded in significantly more land hate than me, I pulled in 3 stone rains, he pulled in what seemed like a playset of stone rains and atleast one or two earth rift and managed to take out all of my mines ruining my chances at a tron ever again. Lucky before he could take care of my tron indefinitely I dropped the crusher and he had nothing to do to take care of it.
Ultimately saying though mirror matches are rough! It comes down to who can typically manage a tron fastest without it being interrupted before the game starts rolling. Needless to say it was definitely the most fun I've ever had in any matchup.
As promised here's my decklist. It's not the exact same as what it was when I played the matchup but very little changed.
Tron has seen some play here and there. Not trying to be repetitive here but post was simply the better land option as has already been said and for the reasons said.
As the OP my opinion of the deck is dwindling as I look at the meta. Decks like Kiln Fiend, Delver, Mono G Stompy, hexproof and others are decks that can stomp on Tron. Tron has difficulties assembling the mana base needed which can take multiple turns which are valuable time for these decks. The meta is CURRENTLY filled with decks that are bad matchups. Post bannings though it is still semi-uncertain what the meta will look like and after the bans are officially through the meta will look significantly different.
Tron has great matchups against slow decks because the longer the game lasts the more mana turns in our favor and we have simply better end game options than other decks.
A theory I've been looking at with pauper involves using more card with phyrexian mana than mana ramp. That way we can focus more on assembling Tron pieces and not have to worry about being mana screwed while still dropping valuable cards to protect our late game.
Honestly, I don't think building them a deck will dove the problem. If as you said they are losing interest in the game, I don't think giving them "better decks" will solve the problem. Part of the fun is building your own deck, and getting stomped everytime (especially if you are new or inexperienced) kind of ruins it imho. One solution could be to play less competitive decks, maybe giving yourself some deck building restriction or some wacky theme (like peasant decks, or ooze tribal, or whatever fancies you).
I'm not building them a deck. I'm building myself a less competitive deck. The theme I wanted to work with was masticores. Their decks aren't absolutely terrible but my decks are way too good for theirs (I win at least 4 out of 5 games and the ones they win are usually because I stuck with a hand that was absolutely terrible when I really shouldn't). Thus the theme I wanted to work with was masticores because they are so entertaining to see in combat.
So currently my friends who I play with just for the fun of the game don't have decks nearly as good as some of my more expensive and competitive decks I've built. Basically they have built their decks from the few boosters they've opened and the few commons some of their friends (including me) have given them. This has led to boring games fairly consistently as I sit and watch me slowly decimate them. Also I've noticed they haven't had quite as much interest in playing as much. I do not want to scare them away from the game simply because the decks I've built are too good. This led me to the masticores.
The masticores are awesome cards mechanically but they aren't as powerful as many other cards that exist. I want to build a deck that looks fun, plays great, and isn't going to consistently decimate my friends' decks. I haven't brewed anything with the masticores but I would love to. So my request is if somebody could help me out here with brewing a masticore themed deck that won't be too dominant in simple tabletop matches but is still fun to play. Also I'd request keeping the budget down significantly since I only intend to use this deck for the fun games with friends until they start building more competitive decks.
You should keep play testing this deck and post some matchup results with more specific details on what cards helped win or lose. I wanted to try running a 3+ color version but was thinking I may be getting too greedy with mana base to allow for consistency. Starting from a wide variety decklist might be a great place to start to find what's working well and what isn't.
I like the idea of more options and more variety. I'm just worried it may not be consistent enough.
He's referring to G(r) Tron in Modern which has shown more success than Mono U (not to sound like I'm bashing Mono U since I play mono U).
Although the question here has nothing to do with modern. Modern and pauper are not the same format. The question isn't if porting the modern tron decks is a viable strategy it's if there is some possible way of building a tron deck that could be viable in pauper.
I've been running a U/R version that has held decent MUs against both U/B trinket control and MBC. Though I found the more common aggressive and fast MUs a problem. I'm going to try running more flame slash and lightning bolts but is playing Tron in pauper probably just going to be better by rushing to building the tron or leisurely assembling the tron in a control deck is the question I'm encountering.
Is this an issue other people are having or is it just me? Either way what can be done to fix this?
I hear you Gammy! Doesn't help that I don't get many chances to play right now either.:(
I've been looking at places to put more counters in and I was thinking that's where it works the best. So those will very likely change.
