Oh, I totally forgot about the NC killing Eidolon application
And yes, I do think the lifegain is potent against burn. It's essentially a counterspell that you can cast after they've resolved something. Bonus points if you kill something in response to their smash to smithereens.
For all affinity players and those who have played against affinity recently, I have another question:
What is the general consensus on Ensoul Artifact? I tried it at states (3-of) over Thoughtcast and was extremely disappointed. Is it a preference thing, a trap, or a must-have? What is a good number to run and what other non-artifact/core spells do you run alongside it? When do I side it out and what decks does it do well against?
My meta is pretty burn heavy. What do you suggest to run and bring in from my sideboard? I always have trouble in this matchup. My current list is similar to Frank Karsten's from his Updating Affinity article not long ago.
I am considering 1 or 2 nature's claim and/or spell pierce. Are those good ideas? I'm a fan of Spell Pierce as it was in my old build and was always nice to have post board in a variety of matchups.
I'm attempting to PM someone in regard to a market street deal. I PM'd once last night and once just now, but both don't seem to be there upon page refresh. It is also stuck saying that I haven't read the last PM in the conversation (which I have).
If it makes a difference, this conversation started before the forum update.
I read another PM from a different sender just recently and that message was taken off my unread messages list as intended, though.
I'd be pretty disappointed with a 4 CMC red one. We have Hellrider and Ogre Battledriver. There's no room for 4 drops in monored. It'd have to be insanely good. What we need is a 2 or 3 drop.
Maybe ridiculous idea here, but what if it's Red's first enchantment removal? I mean in a set that seems to be a bit enchantment heavy, has a Red planeswalker as the poster girl (hinting at maybe breathing new life into red), and the word "academy" in the name... seems like maybe it lines up.
Just a thought. Unlikely I know, but it's weird that the only card to get rid of enchantments in red is Chaos Warp (as far as I know) (edit: and ratchet bomb I guess, but that's not red), but that' doesn't really count now does it?
Enchantments matter in black? This is concrete proof of a strong enchantment subtheme (at minimum) in Theros, or at least in one set of the block. Isn't black the color that could give two ****'s about enchantments usually? (Along with red)
All fingers are crossed for the long-awaited enchantments-matter block. Don't phone it in please, Wizards!
If this happens, I hope Wizards prints the first ever red enchantment removal card.
I take it you haven't paid any attention to standard for the last 2 months?
But what about us mono-red folk?
The top standard decks are just dipping into red for a few goodies. I feel like Wizards should provide us with some things that reward us for committing to the color.
I think quitting magic is an overreaction, but red needs some love. Sure we got Boros Reckoner, but that card is as much white as it is red so it feels like like a backhanded compliment.
Why are you asking about goblins specifically? Do you like them?
yes, i play standard goblins no matter what
I know I'm sort of an odd one out when it comes to this, but only 2 goblins in a core set seems kinda weird. Maybe slivers just pushed out all the space for them, which is really unfortunate.
I suppose I can sorta count Door of Destinies in my favor though.

Thanks again.

Grats wizards you did it again
Not sure if those names are sarcastic or not, but I'd definitely play the first two. The fourth one would go in my sideboard.
No.
Stomping Ground was in the video. (10:12)
Goblin arsonist is also at 9:02
The video does not only use M14.
Goblin Arsonist is visible at 9:02-9:03ish
what's the deal there?
edit: stomping ground is also visible at 10:12, so maybe they're not all M14 cards

...and it needs to be goblin for obvious resons
