Not to be a downer, but does the stack work that way?

Great Aurora is cast and resolves first, and then the Hedron Network triggers it's leave the battlefield effect. This way, Omnath only returns to play after all the lands have been put into the battlefield.

Unless I remembered it wrong, but an entire block of action needs to completely resolve first before any triggers that come as a result may be resolved.

This has been the product of a thought experiment in making a deck built around the Foe-Razer regent. It helped that I managed to receive 3 of the promo ones over pre-release weekend.I seriously love the promo art and utterly loathe normal art, which looks more like a overgrown moose then a dragon. Anyways, I've messed around with to different deck lists, one Mono-Green and one that's a R/G Dragon mix. The main point of the Mono green list was generally efficient creatures, as you are getting above average P/T for what you pay. The R/G list is build more around the Dragon ability of Frontier Siege, since the best G/R flyers are, you guessed it, Dragons and the list evolved from there.

    Mono-Green

    R/G Dragons

Anyway, always looking forward for any Comments or Criticisms.

Actually, there was some changes overall thanks to Sting's insight. So here's the decklist

The potential changes I'm thinking of making for this deck is:

    +1 Polluted Delta
    -1 Forest
In order to help smooth out my mana distribution since I would need to support BB things post sideboard.

    +1 Assault Formation
    +1 Phenax
    -2 Collected Company?/ Triton Tactics?

Like I said in the previous post, Collected Company has been wildly unpredictable sometimes so it may be a good idea to cut it. Yet the allure is still there, since it works okay as a combat trick and to replenish your board. But there's also the change it will tuck away the win cons, since I've had one Collected company tuck 2 Silumgar's and an Assault Formation and giving me a Sidisi's Faithful. I'm pretty conflicted on this. Triton Tactics has been overall kinda meh as well, since there were games where I held it in my hand for a while and just didn't need to play it. Usually, it was the first card I cut when I started sideboarding.

@Sanmarco82: The great thing about this deck is the fact that you can stall pretty hard, so you have the time to draw into stuff. I've found that an early game Assault Formation does put you into a more aggro match, as most early game creatures can't match our high toughness/power output. Once you hit mid- to late-game, however, Assault Formation turns into a support card for a more control oriented game with Phenax as the win-con. The thing with the original U/B Phenax mill was that it was always weak to creature builds as the 0/X's means that the opposing player could chip away at your health with all-out attacks. Unless you have some form of one sided board wipe, you were rushed down pretty hard. With Assault Formation on the board though, you instead can punish any full on rushes due to some highly favorable blocks. This means you enter a bit of a stalemate, as he tries to build his board enough to do an all out attack, while you just wait to draw Phenax. This is where the counter-suite and Reality Shifts shine and you get to dictate the pacing a lot more. It helps that with the popularity of Courser, you know when a Reality Shift would hit a non-creature and when it hits a creature.

TL,DR: I've found that win-con drawing was pretty consistent, but I am considering adding a copy of both to make it even better. For all the fault of Collective Company, sometimes it does let you tuck away what would have been awkward land drops Since often, I'm in top-deck mode.

Personally, I feel if you're going to do that, you might as well just go into Abzan Goodstuff. The only time having a 5/5 is more relevant then a 4/5 is in the case of Rhino v. Rhino or maybe hitting Sheeps. Rakshasa Deathdealer is okay, but there's no synergy with Assault formation. The whole point of Assault Formation is the fact that Wizards weigh Attack way more then Toughness so we get more value for what we pay. With things like Disowned Ancestor, Trailblazer, and Sidisi's Faithful, you're getting a 4 Attack equivalent for 1 mana, with Savants a 3 Atk/Mana, and things like Sheep with 2.5 Atk/Mana. With Rhino and Deathdealer, it's only a 1.25 and 1 respectfully. Yes there are additional upsides to casting them, but it's the same with most other cards out there so it's harder to evaluate sometimes.

Well, this is a day late, but here's the results of my FNM. Went with the deck list in my post, except the 3 Negate, 2 Disdainful, 1 Dissolve counter suite.

Went 3-1-1 and placed 4th, due to the fact that somehow 1st/2nd drew in previous games.

    Round 1: 1-2 U/W Heroic
Game 1 went as well as expected, with a few wall ready to block. However things really went bad once Aqueous Form happened. Game 2 had him drawing most of his creatures and not so much his Heroic enablers, so my creatures were able to force their way through. Game 3, Didn't draw any of my win cons, and he had answers for all of my removal. Didn't help that I had a Drown in Sorrows for 2-3 turns with out the 2nd black, which would have wiped his board pretty hard.

    Round 2: 2-1 Mono-red Rush
Game 1 went pretty well, managed to curve up into turn 1 Sidisi's Faithful, turn 2 Caryatid, into Turn 3 Savant and Assault formation. Game 2, had mana problems, stuck on 2 lands for 5 turns, which was more then enough time to let him build up momentum. Game 3, kept an extremely greedy hand of Caryatid, Caryatid, Silumgar, and 4 lands. Played Silumgar turn 4 and then Phenax and Savant turn 5. Was playing it way too close with 4 life after board wiping him with Silumgar, but managed to mill him out in 2 turns.

Round 3: 2-1 Temur Ascendancy Combo
Game 1, he though I was some form of Sultai control when I negated his Temur Ascendancy and Reality Shifted his Polukranos, but that changed after I slammed down some big buns and Assault formation. Game 2 ended pretty fast with a 15/15 Mistcutter Hydra charging at my face. Phenax and Assault Formation shone pretty bright in Game 3, as he wasn't willing to chip away at my health with all out attacks when Assault Formation is on the board behinds a few walls. Won by milling him for 23, and then 30 cards. It is a tiny bit cruel, but kinda hilarious seeing his face when he had a Reclamation Sage reveal from Courser and I played a second Assault Formation as backup.

    Round 4: 2-0 Chromatiflayer
Both games had Turn 2 Savant, Turn 3 Savant, and then Turn 4 Assault formation with counters in hand. Aside from a Satyr Wayfinder game two, he really didn't have any creature presence as he was trying to dig for a good Soulflayer delve.

    Round 5: 1-1 R/G Pump
Game 1, had the variety of blockers to stall thte early game, but misplayed when I chose to Reality Shift a Prophetic Flamespeaker despite the fact that I had enough blockers. The manifested card turned out to be a Phoenix and just bashed my face in through flying damage. Game 2, I basically had all the advantages when he was stuck on 3 lands up until turn 8. Absolutely did not help when I casted Whelming Wave turn 6, when he had 2 Monastery Swiftspears, 1 Prophetic Flamespeakers, and a Satyr Hoplite on the field. However, Game 1 had dragged on long enough that I won on turn 3 of overtime.

Overall thoughts: Assault Formation/Phenax together does wonders. Collected Company may be cut, since it's on the unpredictable side. Some times, I managed to get double Coursers, and other times I completely wiff. Will need a few more games before deciding to cut them or not.

If you really want to be weird, there's always Sight of the Scalelords. Will hit almost everything that's relevant in the deck while still letting us use them as walls.

I guess? But that's why Black is only a splash in my main deck, with 7 land based sources which all come in untapped and 3 from the Caryatids, versus the 4 total Black symbols from Silumgar and Phenax maindecked. It gets slightly messier if I side in both the Drowns and Plagues, but even then, it should still work OK. Also, the only EtB tapped lands I'm running are my Temples of Mystery, and that's going to be in regardless of the Black splash.

It's just we're basically building the deck to completely revolve around Assault Formation, enough that once it gets removed one way or the other, there really isn't any way we can win. Unless we add in things like Phenax and maybe Prognostic Sphinx, the only hope we have is to somehow out aggro other decks if we have Assault Formation or stall until we do. But we don't have too many combat tricks like flying or trample so we can be chump blocked for days. If we're stalling, it's just more time for the opponent to build up board state, as for every block we're doing, nothing dies due to the proliferation of 0/X's we're playing.

@ SirTibbs: Interesting take. Is there a specific reason you're not running Windswept Heaths? Also, do you have a backup plan just in case you never draw Assault Formation?

@ Triumvirate, @Sting: Good call on the anticipate. However, card space for my deck is tight enough already, hence all of the 3-of's. Is there any card you guys would suggest me to cut in favor of Anticipate? Here's a breakdown of my calls:

    Creatures:
Sidisi's Faithful: It's a 1 drop 0/4, that when push comes to shove in the late came can potentially bounce a creature in a clutch moment.

Dragon's Eye Savants: The best bang for the buck. A 0/6 for 1U, with the option for the Morph Hand peek.

Sylvan Caryatid: 0/3 Mana dork, always helpful, especially in those moments when you need an extra B.

Wall of Frost: One of the biggest butts for it's costs. Also helps with blunting Siege Rhino's and other land-bound fatties.

Courser of Kruphix: Helps get past those moments of disgusting manaflood at twice the speed! Also some incremental life gain, which is a small bonus.

Silumgar: A bit of a meta call for me. There's a lot of decks that run Rabble masters, Elspeth, or other various x/1 creatures in my meta right now. Having hexproof is just icing on top of the cake.

Phenax: Plan B, cause there are way too many ways of getting rid of Assault Formations right now. Erase, Naturalize, Dromoka's Command, Reclamation Sage, Banishing light, and other "fun" stuff.

    Enchantments:
Assault Formation: What this entire concept is built around, need I say more?

    Instant/Sorcery:
Triton Tactics: An 1 mana instant that helps with both of our plans, either a +6 damage for Assault Formation, or a minimum of +12 cards milled for Phenax, or even both!

Reality Shift: Having some removal is always nice, especially when it's not Black.

Disdainful Stroke/Dissolve: Counters to avoid those untenable situations like staring down a Crackling Doom with Silumgar on the field, or a End Hostilities when you have a packed board.

Collected Company: Always good for refilling the field after it get's wiped when you didn't have the counters mentioned above or to punish an all in over-extend. Generally, will always give you value, as you'll be spending 4 mana and having a decent chance of getting 4 or more mana's worth on to the field.

    Sideboard:
Drown in Sorrow: The BB cost might be pretty risky, but this is another meta call for me. the G/W Unseen devotion is slowly turning out to be a thing at my shop, and this could severely blunt some of the damage.

Prognostic Sphinx: Plan C, and it helps that it can scry long and hard for what you need at the the time.

Virulent Plague: Our deck depends on the quality of our creatures, not the quantity, and this helps us in the age-old quality v quantity match=up. Sadly does not affect morphed/manifested creatures. But hey, can't have everything in life.

Naturalize: Good for getting rid of pesky opposing enchantments and artifacts, such as Banishing Lights, Temur Ascendancy, Jeskai Ascendacy, Mastery of the Unseen, Chained to the Rocks, Perilous Vault or various other doodads.

Negate: Just when you feel like you need a bit more counters.

Whelming Wave: Bit of a oddball, but generally works pretty well in those moments when you are staring down a token army, or a manifested Horde, or a fully suited up U/W heroic guy that just hit me in the face for 8 unblockable damage on turn 3.

No, I'm not traumatized by the fact that I've been bum-rushed to hell and back by Manifested things or stalled so hard by First Response that Game 1 went to time would have been a draw had he not drew Warden of the First Tree and had the mana to activate him all three levels the turn he played him, on turn 3 of time. Why would you say that?

Anyways, moving forward. I think one of the problems we're going to face in the future is the R/G midrange Dragons that people will be trying to brew. Aside form maybe Monastery Flock, we don't really have any good flyers with a decent toughness to beat that. Times like this makes me miss Wall of Denial, even if we can't attack with it. Shape the Sands may be a good choice in the sideboard in cases like that, but what other options do we have aside from a heavier Black investment and removal?

@ tbone2177: You need to be careful about Temur Battle Rage. While the double strike is nice, almost nothing in the deck will trigger the Ferocious unless you have an activated Phenax.

Anyways, this is my rough and tumble deck list, which will always be subject to change:

Was brewing up a similar deck. However, I was thinking of running Dragon Eye Savants in place of your Archer's Parapets since it has 1 higher toughness as well as no defender.I'm still debating adding a one drop in the form of Sidisi's Faithful. Also, I was thinking of running Triton Tactics as a surprise combat trick that can work for either Assault Formation or Phenax. Finally, I had Reality Shift in place of your Hero's Downfall, since my black black was only a small splash for 2x Phenax, 2x Silumgar.

    My personal Magic Christmas land has a potential for a turn 4 Kill;
Turn One: Land, Sidisi's Faithful (0/4)
Turn Two: Land, Dragon Eye Savant (0/6)
Turn Three: Land, Wall of Frost (0/7)
Turn Four: Land, Assault Formation, Activate Wall of Frost, Triton Tactics for 23 Damage total.
Though given your specific mana-base, this would be a lot harder to pull off.

Come to think of it, what would happen if you have a mirror Archetype? It doesn'tquite neutralize it, since both cards are stating I can have this and you can't. So which cards gets overall priority in determining whose effects happen?

Back in the ye olde tymes of INN/RTR, I had a Bant sphere of safety deck. Now I kinda want to see if I could rebuild the basic concept of the deck. Given that we lost the easy mana base of the checklands as well as the mana filtering of abundant growths and such, I feel that the safe path is to stick with a single color, which devotion helps support a bit. Anyways, here's the decklist.

This is a bit of a random brew in about 15 minutes, it feels like I'm trying to do a midrange deck, yet my side board seems to want to transform this into a pseudo-Weenies deck at the same time. I hope that you guys could help iron out some wrinkles in the deck.

I'm pretty sure it's random at least card wise. Personally, I do think that there seems to be a rarity skew.
Last night, I pulled a Detention Sphere from my Azorius guild pack, and then a Vraska, Grave Betrayal, Havoc festival, Volatile Rig, a foil Mizzium Mortars, and a Search the City. Today, when I was playing Rakdos, I pulled a Grave Betrayal from my guild pack, and then a Hallowed Fountain, Isperia, Foil Righteous Authority, Foil Mana Bloom, Jace, Martial Law, and a Wild Beastmaster.
Given the pool today, I was basically heavily invested in playing Azorius again, despite being a Rakdos Guild member.

Do we know what the Artifacts are? In the Card list breakdown in the first post, daygl0 has a Civic Saber and Street Sweeper listed under artifacts, but it seems like it hasn't been quite spoiled yet.
