I don't see how you can not run Gitaxian Probe in a deck like this.

Also I just saw Elite Arcanist and I think he is a nice fit even though he is quite fragile but still repeatable Lightning Bolt every turn is quite alluring. I may just cut Nivix Cyclops for him.
I should warn you that this doesn't work how you think it does. the sacrifice is part of casting fling, not the resolution, so casting fling will destroy the cyclops before its on cast ability can trigger.

Regarding Nivix Cyclops I chose him since he is a tough little bugger and at 4 toughness can keep me alive long enough against early threats to build my army. And apart from that if by paying UU1R I can play Artful Dodge, Flash it back, atack for 7 unblocked, cast fling and throw him for 10, hence a 17 damage move for 4 mana. If I have one Guttersnipe online that's an extra 6. Wee Dragonauts I can really consider since they are very cool and have evasion so I don't need to wait for Dodge.
Remember, I'm a bit of a noob strategywise so I consider this a cool combo.
Regarding lifegain and pyroclasm, I didn't really consider them, any help on that? The pyroclasm doesn't happen a lot in my minute playgroup but my wife really digs soul sisters.
I chose Dodge over distortion because even though is costs one more to double cast it, it allows me to bide my time if I need to and cast it a couple of turns later.
Rune Snag and Think Twice definitely have a place here and I'll swap.

Basically it has some different win cons. Either a mini token army, a lot of burn from Guttersnipe or pumping and flinging Nivix Cyclops
I think I packed a diverse draw/counter/burn suite of instants and sorceries to handle things and not run out of gas.
I'm using 22 lands because the avergae CMC is 1.87. I don't know if I should cut down to 20 lands and pack to more instances/sorceries.
What if they decided to correct his costing? Instead of 2UUthey made him cost like 5UU just to even him out?
It wouldn't be exactly the same! I'm just spitballing here.
