I played a b/u deck last night with mad control to a 3-1. A bunch of evoke, pestermites and prowl. No bombs but a lot of dig from blue. Everything just fell into place, as no one at the table was taking blue. Started off g/b but the u cards passed to me were too good.

If you are drafting and the guy next you shuffles every draw it is annoying. He's shuffling 2 cards and taking 1 minute + on 2 cards....seriously??????????

First against rebels b/w was: first game was uneventful I bounced a bunch of creatures and he just overwhelmed me with ca from rebels.

second game get him down to 6 and he grabbed too much removal down 0-2

second match: storm....he screwed up on storm count first game and I win with 2 goblins

next game he saw nothing and I kept tapping lands with pestermite, He couldn't recover

third match: doubling season/artifacts, first game he was modularing the heck out of guys till I took possession of his big guy and rode it to the win.

next game it was was riding 3 fairies (prowl is the pwn). I bounced 2 moduler guys and rode faries to the win

fourth match: r/g thalids. good friend of mine and his deck couldn't compete to turn 3 and 4 pestermite.

game 2 was more of the same---2 minute match.

someone opened a foil goyf/rare goyf same pack different table. I was qq IRL.

I have drafted this a few times and think the controlly/farie deck is the best that I have played. So much dig for reasonably costed creatures seems really good. My bomb was divinity of pride which didn't hit the table at all without removal from opponents. I had 3 crappy rares so pretty pysched that I got 5 packs for $25. 2 free packs I opened were meh but still for the price it was great.

I love both cards. SFM is better right now in legacy. I think the issue is that right now stoneforge partners much better with popular decks out there including maverick, u/w control, etc.

Black is very underwhelming in legacy unless you have a targeted deck with it, such as pox. White is just a better partner with other colors.

I recommend Batterskull over the Fire and Ice. You have a really bad Zoo match, and a rough UR delver match, without it maindeck.

I've tested a lot against zoo. I agree Batterskull is awesome. But, if you can get jitte out against zoo it's pretty much GG, as they can't keep up. If you use some combination of jitte + creature you're going to win the matchup 60-70% of the time.

I still disagree with soFaF over soFaI, but I am one of the few.

Comparing Huntmaster of the Fells to Bloodbraid Elf is like compariing Thoughtseize to Bloodbraid Elf there both completely different cards there is no comparison to be made.

Huntmaster will be strong in midrange decks but those decks will need to be burn heavy like jund decks were to take advantage of his flip side.

He also seems fine in the RUG decks backed up with Countermagic that everyone is brainstorming with right now.

Comparing huntmaster to bloodbraid is what people do in magic all the time. For the same casting cost does this card do work? With your thought process people would play reality strobe the same amount as time spiral. Congrats you have joined the bandwagon too.

The two best decks in standard will quickly become WW(white weenie) and RG aggro. It might even become Jund if there's a good enough way to splash black.

That being said, Huntmaster will be a x4 staple in RG aggro. He's the RG baneslayer. Life gain, token maker, and damager doer.

He's about 100x better than Bladesplicer in every way possible. Best thing BS does is create a 3/3 with first strike. If BS was as solid as you think she is, she'd see play in WW as an aggressive 3drop. Truth is, she's only in pod because you simply never want her, just the 3/3.

Control could become the third best deck in standard IF they get a 1cc or 2cc cancel spell. Otherwise, these two aggro beats decks WILL dominate Standard and Huntmaster will be one of the main reasons.

Lol, can you read? I said the card was going to be good, but it's not like people are going to flock to g/r b/c of this card. Does he make g/r better? yes. Is he such an insane card that it's r/b or nothing? no. Calling him the baneslayer of g/r is a bit much? Embelish at all?

Bladesplicer still makes a better token than him....:)

[QUOTE=Screamin;/comments/5556404][QUOTE=dpg20;/comments/5556142]No the value it gives you is much closer to Bloodbraid Elf than Blade Splicer

It's not going to take over standard by any means but it will be a solid inclusion to any deck that can support RG in it's manabase.

Right, which no one is arguing, but to act like it's any more than "solid" is being melodramatic.

Keep telling yourself that and it will eventually come true. You're right, this card will soon take over standard.

It's actually more impressive than some people are making it out to be it is one of the best cards in the set.

Being that roughly 20% of the cards have been released that's a bit aggressive. It's still closer to blade splicer than bloodbraid elf.

Explain to me how this is worse than Blade Splicer.

slight hyperbole...my point is that it's not as impressive that some are making it out to be. Though blade splacer beats it in a fight.

so maverick is the equivalent of G/W Stoneblade, could see that given some of the lists, but is that what your inferring?

he's inferring that in this particular deck blue isn't all that helpful.

stasis seems like a win more card in this deck. if we are splashing blue wouldn't bant aggro be a better course?

blue just for the point of using stasis seems pretty meh.

Fire and Ice takes Delver and Clique out of the equation entirely. Feast and Famine clears the ground. We aren't concerned with our guy being bigger than theirs and them chumping. We want the sword to TRIGGER.

And the person, who shall remain nameless, that said that the discard aspect of SoFaF was not beneficial should just go stare at himself in the mirror with a sullen expression, possibly while his father stands behind him and shakes his head.

agree on SoFaI, but your analysis of FaF is bad at best. If you're using it because Gerry T used it in his list than admit it. It's great in the punishing fire list, otherwise it's questionable.

Maybe instead of acting like you know it all, you should open your mind to other's thoughts.

I have been testing some and Garruk, Primal Hunter seems to have great synergy with explorer pumping out lands.
