I'm sure most of you have heard about the shooting at UAHuntsville, but I would just like to ask that any of you religious MTGS'ers keep the university and the faculty members families in your prayers and thoughts.
Two of my professors are dead and one more (who is also my academic advisor) is in critical condition in the neurological ICU, so I ask that you pray for all the students in my position who have lost our role models.
no, its Huntsville, Alabama. I saw & skimmed the story last night before work.
@ Mr. Wes Coleman: I'm more of a spiritual individual than I am religious, so no prayers here. (no offense intended).
HOWEVER, I do offer my condolences. 'Tis definately an unexpected and unfortunate act (as always).
My thoughts are with your and your peers.

(about the English language) It's kinda like a raft that was cobbled together from parts of three different boats and since then has been kept barely afloat with crude repairs every time a leak appeared.

Thank you so much.
I recently heard my microbial ecology professor and academic advisor has suffered no major neurological damage, but has lost one of his eyes and needs considerable reconstructive surgery on his jaw.
The department secretary, Steffi, is still in critical condition as of my last checking.
Unfortunately, we lost three professors in our very small department. Dr. Maria Davis (whom I had as a professor last spring for Cell biology), Dr. Adriel Johnson (an A&P professor and advisor to any pre-med/pre-dent/pre-pharmacy students), and our department chair Dr. Gopi Podila (whom I also had as a professor for developmental biology and know personally. It kills me to know his little girl is without her father because of this senseless act). The entire department is in disarray after this tragedy and many of us are left without advisors, professors, and role models.
I know that any continued thoughts would be greatly appreciated by myself and the UAH community.
Gosh, this is awful...what are things coming to? I went there (mid 90s) and used to play Magic at Dr. Bob's Game Shop (which no longer exists) on S. Parkway. My thoughts are with those whose lives were lost or affected.

Dr. Amy Bishop is a crackpot, the amount of info that has come out about her recently is amazing.
I'll be moving to Alabama this year, so I've been paying attention a fair bit to the local news and such down there, this seems totally out of the blue but the more you find out about this specific thing that pretends to be a woman, the crazier it all gets.
My condolences for your school and peers, keep your head up and keep on keeping on.
This may sound controversial, but I say also pray for Amy Bishop, because she has to accept that she is a festering wound in the fabric of society and guilty of the deaths of perhaps four different people in her life.
Pray that her trail of arrogance and sociopathy is over, and that she will accept the consequences, be what they may, and serve as a cautionary example to other chronically resentful, maladjusted people that they need to get help before they commit a senseless act of violence. Pray that this example strengthens the resolve of those who have to live with such creatures in their workplace, their families, their communities, to step up and call for help before a life is taken.

On the bright side he can become a cyborg with a camera to replace his other eye. They can attach a camera to his brain, if it's fully blown out, and have the camera in his eye socket, but I don't know the quality and the other problems that come with having a camera rather than a glass eye.
Then there are the less conventional artificial ways if the eye is more intact:
Sadly, this stuff is still mostly experimental. But at least we have some of the best plastic surgery in the world and hopefully in a few years he'll look good. Hopefully in a decade or so he'll have a fully functional eye as well.
