I'm thinking of starting my own bot. I have a few questions that I would like to pose to the community.
I'm thinking of buying small server hardware like the HP Proliant Micro Server with upgraded memory and CPU.
I'm currently looking at the MtGo Library bot software.
The idea is to have one server with multiple virtual machines running on it each with its own instance of MODO and the trade bot software. On a 1mg line.
My problem is that I'm struggling to decide whether it would be better to go the Linux route using some sort of windows emulator for the VMs or if it would be better to go with windows route and use Windows Virtual PC.
Windows Virtual PC looks attractive to me as the VM's would have legal Windows on them but I'm not quite sure Windows server 2008 is Windows Virtual PC friendly.
I've ordered myself a HP N40L and with a memory upgrade I'm sure it will be up to the task of running a few instances of XP/MTGO/MTGOLibrary. I'd say VMWare is definitely the software of choice and VMWare EXSI is definitely worth checking out.
In my experience MTGOLibrary is a great piece of software and despite all the warnings I'm confidant that Albert is running a legit service. I know people have their doubts but I've found Albert to be great to deal with and as they say "haters gonna hate". With the MTGO V4 update looming, a lot of people seem to think it is a bad time to get into bots but I think the more the merrier. There are a few big name bot chains that people will always go with, and Wizards don't will never officially support the secondary market so I say go for it. If you love MTGO, and have a little IT knowledge, I think you've got nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Any suggestions?
If youre thinking of virtualizing I would highly recommend VMware. It is without a doubt the easiest setup and most mature software out there.
