Battalion - Whenever ~ and at least two other creatures attack, all creature you control get first strike and trample until end of turn. They cannot be blocked by token creature this turn.
Feels very specialised towards that particular role, though the first strike makes it good, regardless. Trample feels like such a weird addition but more is more, I guess.
I think this card is good, or at least as good as the mechanic will allow. I however, cannot fathom how that little guy can grant other creatures trample.
Wizards must have thought mono-red in Legacy needed some help as that seems to be the only color getting any love (while and Burn splashing white) in terms of Legacy playable cards. This is probably a one of or maybe more in Goblins. I'm not sure what it replaces, but it can allow you to alpha strike a lot sooner and get the Piledriver through for the win. I'm very excited to test this.
Raging Goblin that gives first strike and trample seems OK. It might be good enough to see play, I'm just not really sure if making your team a little better in combat is worth playing a 1/1 body.
I'd say Legacy gobs have a new weapon, though I don't know what to take out. Maybe a one of to grab with the matron or ringleader?

Hmmm, somehow I feel as though raging goblin has been outclassed...
On a more serious note, I rather like this card and it will certainly see lots of standard play. If RDW takes off as a thing expect (and Ash Zealot) to be $7-10. Probably also legacy playable in goblins

That's what I was thinking. If you run Krenko and Kiki-Jiki you could cut one and add this (preferably Kiki-Jiki). Or add it in place of one Mogg War Marshal.
This can easily make a home in Modern RDW or Modern Boros, on standard it is a very strong card for aggro decks. The Battalion ability is quite goopd as well giving your creatures First Strike, Trample and Unblockable to Tokens (take that Lingering Souls). This and Hellrider would be good friends. Now how to take care of Blind Obedience.
#1 - What's the dumbest idea you ever had?
#2 - 15/15 for 15?
#1 - Make it dumber
#2 - Give it protection from removal and counter?
#1 - DUMBER!
#2 - Add Timewalk?
#1 - DAMN IT MAN, I SAID DUMB!! DUMB !!!
#2 - It destroys everything when it attacks.... And wait, I have a friend who plays mill decks... I want to beat him too.
#1 - Excellent! Recess is over, go back and learn sex-ed with the other 6th graders.
First strike and trample are really just two forms of evasion as long as you don't have lure shenanigans or combat tricks, and the third ability is some pretty blunt evasion, so evaluate it as a raging goblin (with soldier tribal too!) that makes an alpha strike quite evasive. Is that playable? Probably. He seems pretty fairly balanced to me, good enough to maybe see play, maybe not. I just hope he doesn't wind up broken, in standard or legacy or whatever
Seriously though, this guy reminds me of Withengar Unbound
Its 3 forms of evasion on 1 creature!? On withywings it was terrible and stupid because they were so redundant that flying alone could have done it in most cases, but here, the evasions are all fairly limited in effect and can all have big impacts in their own way, and the fact its not just applied to a single creature gives it an actual purpose (3 evasions on just one creature is silly)

Battalion - Whenever ~ and at least two other creatures attack, all creatures you control are probably unblockable until end of turn.
I think to be a combat trick you really need to be able to manipulate your opponents blocking choice. This guy just feels like the department of redundancy department making a sleep effect on a gobbo.
To block withengar unleashed, you need a flying black or artifact creature with a big enough backside to make the difference.
To block this guy and his alpha strike, you need non-token creatures that you can afford to throw away to first strike and have big enough backsides to soak it up or win combat
I think its evident how silly it was on withywings, how it might even make some sense here. A centaur healer can take down a gobbo in the assault, including this guy here, whereas to block withy, you needed to comb your way through gatherer and figure out how much life you can afford to lose to the attack, because 14 toughness artifact or black fliers aren't exactly forthcoming
You guys are underestimating this guy I think. I play Esper control and I use Sorin/Lingering Souls to slow my aggressive opponents down to where I can stabilize. This guy just makes it so that RDW ignores all my creatures and hits me in the face. My whole build will probably have to change because of this guy.
I...
I honestly don't know how to evaluate this. I'm thinking you'll want to play him last, so they don't see the first strike / trample coming, but then they'll just chump block him - a 1/1 is not fearsome, even with first strike and trample.
But if you play him on turn 3, and you've left open mana to Bloodrush the +4/+4 trampler onto him, that very well may be the end of your opponent's defense.
Sure, he may be fun in legacy. But attacking with a 1/1, whether in limited or standard, is generally a terrible idea....
Curious.
EDIT: Somehow missed the token-hate. Well. That makes him a much better sideboard option vs control, and vs anything thragtusk.

You also just got Blind Obedience, which single-handedly assures that RDW will no longer be a relevant matchup for decks with white in them.

I'd consider him more for legacy when dropping him on turn 3/4 will be for an alpha strike.

I gave this some more thought, and realized that I'll probably never play this in Standard. It's never going to survive through one combat, unless the opponent doesn't have a 2/2. And if they don't have a 2/2, why do you need combat abilities? I don't think this does anything unless the opponent only has tokens.
You also just got Blind Obedience, which single-handedly assures that RDW will no longer be a relevant matchup for decks with white in them.
Statements like this are so silly. That card hardly shuts down an entire archetype all by itself. It hardly even shuts down Hellrider, it merely prevents it from attacking for one turn...you still get the ability bonus.
Nice aggressive 1 drop goblin but he'll have a big target on him and will probably be smacked with a big stick before he get his battalion off. Better to have him drop later when you've got other creatures out already. This does as, pointed out above, make him more of a combat trick than a creature.
If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.
