I bet someone, somewhere within Wizards, tried to put the card name on there one more time... just so you'd have "Five-Alarm Fire" five times. Sadly, it was not to be.
Cool design, but I'm not sure if it'll see play outside Limited. Creature aggro decks probably don't want to be doing this T3. Though the fact that you don't have to sacrifice the Enchantment means it could be reused.
In a swarm deck, perhaps? Goblin swarm with Krenko and the new Fervor-with-legs?
You guys seem to miss that it's not combat damage dealt to a player, just combat damage in general. It gives you a little more reach when they have a blocker and you're swinging into them constantly.
Look closely people, it triggers on your creatures dealing combat damage in general, not just to a player. So anything sent into combat will generate a counter.
I can see this as a faux Shrine of Burning rage for red decks to reach that last bit of damage.
I wonder if I would have even played it if costed R.
Pretty underwhelming card.
I'm pretty sure it would see play in Boros if it costed R...
in a aggro deck your creatures will do combat damage to something way more than 5 times in a whole game....
and it'll be essentially at least 5 damage to anything for R
at 1RR, will be a pretty high pick for limited, probably nothing more.
I actually like this card. It'll probably be one of those cards that looks good on paper but never quite makes the cut, but still. Hate the name, though.

I'd say the big drawbacks are that:
- your opponent can see the 5 damage coming from miles away and will play around it.
- you might not be able to use it when you need it (example: you're in mid/late game and need a threat removed asap. If you draw this, it's no help at all.)

I use the Duels Of The Planeswalkers layout, though I'm right-handed and keep my deck and GY to the left. I dare you to ask me how tempting it is to hold flying creatures in a floating pattern over the table.
Its a worse Hellrider without a body for 1 CMC less.
Effectively you swing with creatures, build up counters, throw counters at your opponents for damage. I see this as an interesting thing in combination with the Medic for turn after turn buildup.
Cool card, Hellrider is typically better though.

edit: nath'ed
edit2: oooooh double strikers and aurelia
It counts any combat damage, not only to player.
Edit: 'nath'd 2 times.

Pretty underwhelming card.

I agree, and I know I wouldn't play it even for R. I read it four times because I thought I missed something. "It can't be that bad", I thought.
Three mana for four damage, and you have to wait for it? It really is that bad, even if you build around it. Wasted rare slot as far as I can tell.
(Edit: Though someone might very well break it with double strike and prove me wrong)

Five-Alarm Fire 1RR
Enchantment (R)
Whenever a creature you control deals combat damage, put a blaze counter on Five-Alarm Fire.
Remove five blaze counters from Five-Alarm Fire : Five-Alarm Fire deals 5 damage to target creature or player.

Right now, I don't see it having any business in rdw. It might see play if Krenko, mob boss became a key card.
If anything, I'd say it being a fixed Umezawa's jitte.
