Well its part of a cycle, we do know that for a fact. Mark Rosewater said it yesterday there was an unspoiled cycle of Lords.
I get that, just saying I'd find it unlikely the cycle would involve landwalk....they could update Elvish Champion, Zombie Master, and Goblin King, but giving something Plainswalk?
Great card but what Merfolk do we have in standard now even worth playing? Do we even have any Merfolk in standard? I have a Legacy Merfolk deck that this will obviously fit nicely into, but standard? Don't see it.

I assume M13 and Ravnica will give us some goodies. Wait, were there merfolk in the old ravnica??
It's strictly better than Lord of Atlantis, because it doesn't buff your opponents' Merfolk. Mind you, I think everyone's going to be running both of them.

Negative.
Wait..

I wonder if Simic have been replaced with UG Merfolk in RTR! Kiora was designed at the same time as RTR (just like Ral). Momir Vig is dead and the Simic are in deep **** after unleashing Kraj.
Ok its slightly better lord that now dies to shock instead of bolt. Lord being 3/3 was pretty relevant since its not popular(currently) to play against another merfolk player in legacy bear in mind. Im thrilled about the cycle. This card not the biggest fan of(don't play the folk) but seems pretty decent.
What i do like is the fact maybe the other lords are 2 cmc and zombies would love a 2cmc lord not just in standard bear in mind. Goblins 2cmc lord will probably be ok but not outstanding unless they actually don't care about legacy(if it does something retarded good) lol. and if its not zombies its vampires that would make standard interesting since it probably has to be black which in return makes the nocturnis actually look like a very playable card.
Very nice. I hope there will be Merfolk support in the upcoming sets, so we don't have wasted lords (Merfolk Queen, Goblin Chieftain) in M11 who were useless with Innistrad.

This does 100% the same as Lord of Atlantis, if your opponent is not playing Merfolk as well.

Guess what im rebuilding for legacy and or modern? Merfolk plain and simple!!! This card allows for three different creatures that can be lords of atlantis. I love this card and i want 4!!!!

2cmc Lords are pretty off the hook in established tribes, I'm curious to see what develops for the other colors (assuming this is indeed the cycle). Elves and Goblins could get a serious boost from a good 2cmc Lord.

Merfork Lord anyone? So the cycle begins.
Mark Rosewater said we have more Lords coming, can't wait to see the rest.

No, pretty sure they're just updating Lord of Atlantis so it only affects your creatures.
EDIT:
I get that, just saying I'd find it unlikely the cycle would involve landwalk....they could update Elvish Champion, Zombie Master, and Goblin King, but giving something Plainswalk?

Agreed, that's pretty good news for a deck that seems to be making a few inroads again. One more reason to keep the Vial at 2.
Really? I hope they're all 2cmc. A RR goblin lord would be pretty awesome.

As a note, Merfolk of the Pearl Trident also fits the crunch. Maybe we'll see a 1 drop Merfolk =)

Yeah, any Merfolk deck will want both, the question is what they will cut for it. Coralhelm Commander/Merrow Reejery (?)
