Gore Vassal2W
Creature - Hound (U)
Sacrifice Gore Vassal: Put a -1/-1 counter on target creature. Then if that creature's toughness is 1 or greater, regenerate it.
2/1 "Rid them of their unfaithful organs. Bring new hearts to the unbelievers."
- Tome of Machines, verse 1703
So basically, a 2/1 for 2W that you can sacrifice to either kill off an enemy X/1 or weaken their creatures, or save one of your other X/2+ creatures from a kill spell (but give it a permanent -1/-1 in the process). Very flavourful, its easy to see what they're going for with the "white phyrexians", even if they look like eldrazi
So if it doesn't kill the creature it basically taps it? That's..kind of cool. This set is full of bizarre cards. This seems like it should be BW or B to me.
So it kills 1 toughness stuff but not 2 toughness stuff (tho, it makes them 1/1s...)
I don't think its playable in constructed.
I think its unique though, and I like it.
Interesting, a little bit overcosted for such meidocre ability, low stats of 2/1 can be killed by Arc Lightning. The upside, it can regenerate your titan, the downside, it weakens it a bit.
#1 - What's the dumbest idea you ever had?
#2 - 15/15 for 15?
#1 - Make it dumber
#2 - Give it protection from removal and counter?
#1 - DUMBER!
#2 - Add Timewalk?
#1 - DAMN IT MAN, I SAID DUMB!! DUMB !!!
#2 - It destroys everything when it attacks.... And wait, I have a friend who plays mill decks... I want to beat him too.
#1 - Excellent! Recess is over, go back and learn sex-ed with the other 6th graders.
Oddly enough it's very handy at getting rid of small and pesky Infecties.
Odd pretty much sums up this card.

Edit: Thanks for putting that in the top post, LC.
I love, love, love this little guy. He's adorable (in a creepy way) and I find his ability to be absolutely elegant and appealing. I don't care how good or playable he is, he has a special place in my heart. <3
Yeah, I just sat and looked at the card for about five minutes trying to grok it when I was trying to write that article. It just feels out of color/flavor, despite still kind of fitting in the world. I love and loathe the impact it's going to have on Red Zone combat though. Which side is it going to be used on and when... Fun and flavorful!

Well the headache I have just got worse, I stared for a good five minutes dissecting how this damned thing worked. Now that I know, it's a fun little ☺☺☺☺er.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
This card is weird, but in a really good way. It can kill an X/1, shrink an enemy, or save one of your dudes. I like these kind of card designs, 2 seemingly unrelated abilities that have neat synergy, and I've seen a few of them in MBS so far.
Why is this W? Because it's defensive I guess. It probably has something to do with how W Phyrexia interprets -1/-1 counters.

I like that you can save your big guys if need be...or *tap* a creature before it can attack that turn.

dont forget that in some cases -1-1 counters can be useful for certain abilities. like that quill guy or whatever his name is.
its quite possible theyll print something similar.
I wish more of the preview cards were like this, instead of umpteen infect versions of mirrodin block cards.

How are you tapping down creatures with this...?
