However, in today's culture of Justin Bieber, Jersey Shore, and Twilight, where every song on the radio, every program on television and every site on the internet is just another monument to the pinnacle of human stupidity, it's certainly not the worst thing that people could be watching.
This is very interesting and is great flavor. But more importantly, who is Melira?

Interesting, looks like as some people predicted, they brought back the Tatterkite effect, not totally unexpected, but still a sensible way to combat infect.
Good enough in limited. It really shuts down the infect deck, but if MBS makes the draft format a little more diverse it may not be good as it would be right now.
Not first pick material, but I could see it going in the top 5 to first half of the pack for sure.
the clever thing about tatterkite was it was a 1 toughness creature that was good at blocking wither. this ability on an already formidable body just seems less exciting to me. doesn't make it a bad card, just banal. it's kind of like putting first strike on a creature with high toughness... not irrelevant but strange. a 3/1 first strike is cute. a 2/4 first strike is some what pointless.
he does obviously survive multiple infect combat steps, sure. but he was going to trade with 2+ guys anyway (barring proliferate)
Odd that this "Melira" has gotten absolutely no mention so far.
It's kind of odd that for a "story-driven block" there hasn't been much story. No short stories, only one and a third comics, and no extra novel tie in. They really need to amp things up a bit.
Cool card, but at 5 CMC, it doesn't do much against aggro-infect in Limited. Would rather the Keepers have been a 1G bear with the Tatterkite ability.

There have been "field reports" on the Mirrodin minisite, and there will be a block novel as usual. The "story-driven" aspect is more to do with how the block was designed anyway.
Smeh. Goodish in limited i guess, little slow and still great target for grasp. If it was cheaper smaller then i think it would be fantastic, as it stands its ok.

Some comments:
I like the art on it
Interesting ability - I think only one that has it until now is Tatterkite
Ok mana cost
Good for defense and offence (more for defence because of the counters, like against wither and infect)
Can see this card seeing a lot of play
4 stars from me

Hopefully MBS will open up another limited decktype, seeing uw metalcraft and bg infect all the time is getting stale
